Chapter 43: Ch 43: Rushed to Medical Wing

"Student Alan, help us calm the other students and put Student Noah down. One of the other teachers will help him to the medical wing-"

"And when will that be? I am sorry, but I don’t think I want to take that chance when it comes to a human life."

The teacher looked taken aback by Alan’s words, and she blinked at him as if seeing him for the first time.

Alan had always donned the mask of a polite and well-mannered student who listened to teachers. And since he never talked back or gave the teachers trouble like other espers, they thought of him as a meek but powerful esper they could control.

But this time, Alan had snapped back, and before the teachers could recover, he ran off with Noah in his arms.

Daniel broke free from the crowd and ran outside as well, followed by Ethan.

They reached the medical wing one after another, and Alan handed Noah over to Riku, who looked surprised but not shocked by what had happened.

"Let me guess...the others said that this was a ’drill accident’ and prioritized the other students’ safety while ignoring the injured party? This is quite common, so you kids better get used to it."

Riku’s cut-and-dry way of speaking made Daniel frown, but before he could say anything, the medical esper started to check Noah’s injured side.

The burns were not severe, but they covered a large area. It was going to take a long time to heal naturally.

"Tsk, it looks like I will have to use my powers after all. But this might require a few sessions. As for the eye...the vision can be restored, but the physical appearance might be compromised. You all should step out because it is not going to be pretty."

Riku warned the trio, but they decided to ignore his words. They wanted to be there for Noah when he recovered.

Their determination made the medical esper sigh, and he admired their courage. But these kids were far too young to witness what Noah was going to look like while he recovered.

"Hey, I am not joking here or making a suggestion. The sight of Noah recovering is not going to be pretty. And he is likely going to scream a lot. I do not want one of you to get influenced and decide to play hero in the middle. Do get out-"

"I can handle it!"

"I can handle it as well."

"I will stop them from interfering if that happens."

Alan was the last to speak, and he was barely holding himself back at the moment. Riku doubted he could actually hold anyone back when the time came.

But as much as he wanted to send them out, he could feel the power rolling off Alan and Daniel. Even Ethan was likely S-class, which meant that going against them would only leave Riku injured.

He could deny healing Noah, but the pitiful kid lying there injured was too much for his tender heart.

Sigh

’Well, I guess I am compromising my safety in the end.’

"Alright, stay there. But if you interfere, then it will only make things worse for Noah."

He told them and placed a hand on Noah’s face. His powers started to work, and the room became silent for a minute...before the screaming started.

Noah’s flesh started to move and rebuild itself back to its perfect state. The burns were being forcefully healed, but the pain of growing new skin was making Noah scream.

"Darn it-"

Someone moved behind Riku, and he tensed up, expecting to get hit. But someone else stopped the person who moved.

"Darn it! Let me go! Can’t you hear how much he is screaming?"

Daniel complained, only for Alan to snap back.

"Noah needs this to heal. The doctor told us that this was part of the healing process. We need to trust him and Noah for now."

"Fucking hell..."

The room fell silent once more as the medical esper performed his task and healed Noah.

The skin looked mostly healed, but there was still too much damage beneath the skin that he had not healed.

But Riku was not going to try to heal Noah anymore today. Otherwise, it would be mentally damaging for the guide. He knew more than a few people who had tried to push their limits and gone mad because of it.

’I will need a guiding session after so much healing...’

Riku began to assess himself, only to notice that the usual fatigue that came with healing was not present. Instead, he felt even fresher than he did after receiving deep guiding.

’What the hell?! How did this happen...’

His eyes fell on Noah, and he felt curious. He suddenly suspected that this was something Noah had done, and he wanted to confirm his suspicion. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ

He had read Noah’s file, and it marked him as a B-class guide. But what if that file was wrong, or if Noah had evolved or possessed hidden potential? That would mean Riku had found a hidden gem he could claim.

If he could be guided this much just through treatment, then how much better would natural guiding be? He wanted to find out and-

"Are you done? Can you step aside so that we can take a look at Noah?"

Alan asked in a calm voice, but his eyes were narrowed in suspicion. It made Riku realize what kind of thoughts he had been having, and he quickly snapped himself out of his mindset and coughed to hide his uneasiness.

"Your friend should be fine now. He is resting because of the intense pain, but he should wake up soon. If he is not able to see through his right eye, then tell him not to panic. It will take a few sessions to heal."

Riku told the trio before he stepped aside to calm himself down.

He was not sure why he had those disturbing thoughts. He was not a pervert, much less attracted to someone 15 years younger than him.

No, it had not been Noah himself that attracted him, but the guiding that was trying to hook him.

"Tsk, what a dangerous kid. He might become someone important in the future."
