[BL]The Matchmaker Guide Doesn't Want Love
Chapter 2: Ch 2: A prophecy for new Encounters
"I hope you do realize that you barely made the cut to be admitted to our academy. You should consider it a miracle, even. You got saved by your excellent writing-portion marks."
Noah kept a smile on his face even while facing the harsh words of the teacher put in charge of him. He could see the dislike on her face, and she pulled a disgusted expression every time she looked at his card.
If it were up to her, then someone like Noah, who was classified as an ’orphan’ as well as a B-Class Guide, would never be allowed anywhere near this prestigious academy.
But the system did not work that way.
’Tsk, to think I am stuck with a low-class like this. This is all because that A-Class Guide got into a civil dispute.’
The teacher was not happy, and Noah’s attitude was not helping his case in her eyes.
Noah looked far too happy, and that stupid grin on his face made the teacher’s blood boil. She wanted him to keep his head down and feel guilty for taking such a prestigious spot, and she made sure to convey it through her eyes and expressions.
If this student had any decency, he would ask to withdraw now.
But Noah smiled back at her with the same stupid grin, causing her to break her composure. In the end, she snapped and decided she was not going to deal with him anymore.
"Here, these are your papers. Take them and head back to your room. Classes will start tomorrow, so make sure you get there on time."
Noah nodded and exited the room. He did not mind his teacher’s attitude, nor her sneer or disdain toward him. The only thing that mattered was the number on the card he had been given.
He exited the room and skipped toward his own room happily when his body moved on its own at the last second, causing him to sidestep the door that suddenly opened.
"I am sorry. I did not mean to-"
The person on the other side spoke timidly and immediately bowed his head. His large frame and delicate face made him look timid and harmless. But Noah knew better than to fall for such a façade.
Alan’s cold eyes searched Noah’s face, looking for a weakness to exploit.
But Noah refused to give him one and instead plastered a smile on his face.
"Hey, it’s fine. See, you missed hitting me, so I’m fine. You don’t have to look so worried."
Noah waved his hand around to show that he was fine, and Alan’s face softened. Anyone else would think he was relieved, but Noah kept focusing on his eyes.
They looked cold...and interested, which was not good.
The only person Alan was supposed to show interest in was his future soulmate. And that meant it was time for Noah to make his exit.
"Don’t worry about almost hitting me, pal! Ah, I have something to tell you before I leave. Give me your hand."
Alan did not move, so Noah decided to grab it himself. Alan tried to pull away, but he did not struggle too hard, causing Noah’s grip to remain firm.
"You are going to find your soulmate soon. My power tells me that you will soon meet the person who will become the most important person in your life. You have to make sure you keep them close."
Noah was not a forceful person, but at this moment, his eyes looked dark, and his presence felt overwhelmingly dominant. Even if the other person wanted to pull back, they would not be able to muster the will to do so.
That was what happened to the SSS-Class Esper, Alan.
And before he knew it, Noah was gone, leaving him alone in the hallway. The Esper left behind looked shocked as he tried to grasp what had just happened.
"What happened?"
Alan questioned, looking down at his hand that was quickly losing the warmth it had held just seconds ago.
Something about Noah’s presence had felt familiar, but he could not recall why it made him feel so nostalgic. It made him want to grab that wrist...and break it.
His head had suddenly started to hurt, and Alan felt sick. He needed to get rid of this pain before it became too much. And if that meant getting rid of Noah, he would do that as well.
"That student...he was a Guide. If so, then I’m sure we will cross paths again soon enough. I’ll take care of him once classes start tomorrow."
With that decided, Alan turned around and headed back to his room.
As an SSS-Class Esper from a wealthy family, he had been given a room of his own. He was going to lock himself inside and sleep this headache away.
...
"That was a close call. I was not mentally prepared to run into Alan. It’s a good thing I’m quick on my feet and managed to make an excuse before running away."
Noah took a deep breath as he reached his room. He had successfully managed to dodge Alan, and he had finally reached his destination.
He took another deep breath before knocking on the door to let his new roommate know he was there. He did not get a reply from inside, so he took it upon himself to open the door and enter.
"Please pardon my intrusion. I am your new roommate. I’m Noah, a B-Class Guide. It’s nice to meet you. Let’s hope we both get along well."
Noah maintained his cheerful façade as he looked toward his roommate’s bed. He immediately noticed the angry glare his roommate gave him for barging in so loudly.
But there was no greeting, making it clear that his roommate had no intention of getting along with him.
Daniel was making it clear that he wanted nothing to do with Noah. The only reason he was tolerating him was because they had been assigned as roommates by the academy.
This was acceptable to Noah. He had no intention of forcing his presence on Daniel either. For now, simply being in the same room as him was enough.
Slowly, Noah would work to bring both Daniel and Alan closer together.
And once they were, his own presence would quietly fade from their lives.
