Meanwhile, Noah had already reached the teacher’s office, completely unaware of the argument silently happening inside Daniel’s head. He knocked on the open door before stepping inside.

"Teacher, I have brought the report from the finance committee."

Their teacher looked up, and the smile on her face immediately made Noah uneasy.

"Ah, you are finally back."

Noah frowned at those words, wondering why she sounded as if she had been waiting for him.

"I apologize if I took too long. There were some issues while I was delivering the report."

"Oh, I am sure there were."

The teacher accepted the papers and looked through them before turning her attention back to Noah.

"You did well, Noah. In fact, you did so well that I have another important task for you."

Noah’s expression stiffened.

’Of course.’

He should have known that simply delivering the report would never be the end of his troubles.

"What kind of task?"

The teacher leaned back in her chair with a smile.

"You will be assisting the senior division again tomorrow, but this time, you will be working directly with one of their departments."

Noah’s uneasiness deepened.

"Which department?"

"The disciplinary committee."

Noah’s heart sank.

’Why does that sound like the worst possible option?’

The disciplinary committee, just as the name suggested, was a student body that was responsible for peace and order in an academic year. But it was an unofficial body that ran across several years.

It had not been established for the first years yet, but once it was, it would become another obstacle in Alan and Daniel’s way.

At least, that was how it was in the original work.

Coincidentally, they were also the villains during the academy festival arc.

Usually, second years were not associated with the first years, but Alan was so famous that he got to bypass this rule and was invited to join anyway by their teacher.

Alan, who was bored and also arguing with Daniel at this point, decided to do so anyway, only to discover that they had set their eyes on Daniel.

Confused about his feelings, Alan ended up helping Daniel escape from them, and that was how it got them both close.

But this time, the offer to join...or rather, to assist the seniors had fallen on Noah.

’I am not naive enough to think that this is a good thing. Those seniors stayed clear of Alan because of his family and his powers. There is no way I am going to be able to handle them quietly. Ugh, I want to decline...’

"Teacher, I am a little busy-"

"And so am I...but that does not mean I get to decline the work I am given. I am saying this for your own good, but you better lower your expectations for the future. Now get to work."

In the end, it did not work, and Noah began to consider just skipping his assigned work.

Noah stared at his teacher for several seconds, trying to decide whether arguing would actually help him or simply give her another reason to make his life miserable.

’If I refuse, she will probably find another excuse to punish me. If I accept, I will have to spend another day surrounded by those seniors.’

Neither option sounded appealing.

"I understand, teacher."

Noah reluctantly accepted the documents she pushed toward him, and his teacher immediately looked satisfied with his response.

"Good. I knew you were a sensible student."

Noah forced a smile while taking the papers.

’Sensible? I am being threatened into accepting this.’

He turned around and left the office before his expression could betray his thoughts. Once he was outside, Noah looked down at the documents and immediately felt another headache coming.

The disciplinary committee had a long list of responsibilities, and Noah was expected to assist them with organizing security during the festival. This meant checking the barriers around the different sections, reporting suspicious activity, and helping the committee deal with any conflicts that might occur between students. 𝑓𝑟ℯℴ𝓂

’Why do they need a first-year B-class guide for this?’

Noah could already guess the answer.

They wanted someone they could push around.

A weak guide would be easy to order around, and if anything went wrong, the teachers could simply blame him for failing to perform his duties properly.

"Ugh, this is ridiculous."

Noah continued walking while reading through the documents, completely lost in his thoughts, until he suddenly heard footsteps approaching from behind.

"Is everything alright? You have quite a sour look on your face. Do you want me to resolve this situation for you?"

Erin was in the corridor as well, and he walked toward Noah with carefully precise steps. He looked a little on edge, which made Noah curious about his day as well.

But something inside him told him that it would be better not to ask. After all, Erin had his own life to live as well.

As for his situation...

"No, it’s fine. I was a little annoyed that I have to be the errand boy for the next few days until the festival, but it should be fine. I can handle this..."

"Noah, about this festival...can you skip it? All these people do is cause you trouble, so it feels bad to see you running yourself ragged while trying to appease them. If you are worried about your reputation, then I can make an excuse-"

"It’s fine. I don’t want to do what the teachers have asked me, but I also don’t feel like missing this festival. As you know, this might be the first and last festival I ever get to enjoy in my life. So I want to make the best of it...even if it sucks."

Noah assured him with a smile on his face.

He was worried as well, but he did not want to show that to Erin. But Erin still had a tight expression on his face, showing that he was not happy with the outcome.

Sigh

"Alright, I won’t say anything since you want to attend the festival. But remember, you can back out and choose not to participate any time you want to."
