Blood Primordial: Start With S-Rank Blood Dragon Bloodline
Chapter 59: Immortal Zombies
The regeneration was very fast, and more importantly, his spear penetrated its skull, yet it still regenerated like it was nothing.
This was really troublesome, and he couldn’t think, ’Could it be I have to use my blood explosion? But would it be enough?’
He wasn’t sure, as these zombies didn’t have typical regeneration; it was something else.
Still, he knew it wasn’t unkillable; his new spiritual weapon, Hell Crimson Spear, should be able to annihilate it. Still, he didn’t want to use it in front of others, as, although he didn’t truly know how rare spiritual treasures are, they are definitely something a shrimp like him can possess.
Not to mention his Hell Crimson Spear seems to be very extraordinary even among the spiritual treasures.
If he shows such an extraordinary spiritual weapon, not only the people from whom he robbed it, but also other noble families and different organisations might come after him.
He already had like a million troubles that he didn’t have solved, yet adding another mess would be worse.
Therefore, he could only take his time and search for the zombie’s weakness. There had to be one.
Otherwise, creating dozens or even hundreds of seemingly immortal zombies like these would be far too easy.
If they were truly this difficult to kill, why hadn’t their creators simply sent these zombies out from the beginning?
They could have destroyed the cities with their tireless, seemingly immortal bodies.
There had to be a weakness. He stopped attacking aggressively and started to try to find its weakness or at least something about these zombies. He not only looked at the zombie in front of him but also the entire battlefield, as he wanted to see from every different possibility.
The more he looked, the more he felt all of them seemed to take the same time to regenerate. But they seemed to release the same level of energy. Like it wasn’t regenerating multiple zombies but a single one.
However, that shouldn’t be the case, as every zombie received a different amount of damage, yet they need the same amount of energy? He felt he was going in some direction, then suddenly Stella’s voice rang in his mind.
"Master! Master, can you hear me?"
"Stella! Is that you?... How are you able to talk to me within my mind?"
"Yes, Master, it’s me. And how I am talking, I didn’t fully understand, but it seemed I could connect with Master whenever I want."
Max was surprised to hear this, and this was surprising. When he thought about this, he felt he could also do the same. This surprised him, but he quickly calmed down as this wasn’t the time to play with and asked, "What’s the matter? Why did you want to talk with me?"
"Ah, yes, master, I seemed to see something weird about these monsters." She said with a doubtful voice.
"Oh..." His eyes glowed, as it seemed she also had found something about these zombies.
"Quick, tell me."
"Hm... Master, it seems like there is something similar to a thread made of spiritual power coming out of every single one of them."
Stella paused for a moment, as if trying to understand what she was sensing.
"And all of those spiritual threads seem to be connected to a single monster. Or... perhaps it’s the opposite. It feels like every spiritual thread is coming from that one monster and connecting to the others."
"What!" Hearing Stella’s words, he was surprised, and his eyes couldn’t help but glow as he seemed to have finally found a weakness, and it might be the biggest one.
"Where? Which one?" He quickly asked, and she quickly told him.
He quickly looked at the one that she told him. And he was surprised to see it, as it appeared to be a short and weakest zombie but quite slippery, like trying to remain out of sight. But now he noticed there was something different about it.
It seemed purer. More importantly, its aura appeared to weaken slightly whenever the other zombies regenerated.
He immediately knew it was the core of these immortal zombies. Other zombies wouldn’t weaken as long as it was alive. But other bloodline awakeners would eventually notice this too.
They weren’t idiots, and they had been fighting these creatures for quite some time.
Once they realised that the zombies were sharing their strength or connected to a single source, they would naturally begin searching for that source.
Then why are they doing this? Max’s expression became serious.
Perhaps the purpose of these zombies wasn’t to kill everyone immediately.
Maybe their true purpose was to stall them in the first place. To keep the bloodline awakeners occupied and achieve whatever goal they have.
Since he had found the trick, he didn’t immediately attack it. He waited, as he didn’t know if he could disrupt the hidden enemies’ plan; he wouldn’t become their next target.
So he instead watched the battle like some sports event as he calmly handled the spear zombie with ease.
The battle continued for some more time as all of them were feeling agitated, as this would never end. No matter what they did, these zombies just regenerated and returned to peak condition in a matter of moments.
But as Max expected, a few sharp ones quickly took notice of that small, slippery zombie. Whose aura seemed to have weakened a bit.
They didn’t see the spiritual threads like Stella, but they just knew it had problems.
"Quick attack that short one!" One of the bloodline awakeners seemed to be from a noble house he didn’t know and had an upright aura, shouted.
Immediately, the bloodline awakeners closer to it attacked without hesitation, as it didn’t matter that they had to try.
It was quickly attacked by four or five bloodline awakeners and could not escape, and was quickly injured.
But quickly, it healed its body just like before.
But then something unexpected happened. The other zombies suddenly stopped regenerating. For a brief moment, their bodies remained damaged without healing.
Max’s eyes narrowed. ’So that’s the weakness.’
The core zombie couldn’t regenerate itself and the others simultaneously.
As long as it was forced to regenerate, the energy sustaining the other zombies would be interrupted.
The seemingly immortal zombies had finally revealed their weakness.
