Black Clover: The Son of Fire Dragon Igneel
Chapter 717: SFDI - 717
Chapter 717: SFDI: Chapter 717
The strategy meeting was not held at Dragon’s Circle but at Fairy Tail on the continent of Ishgar.
If the opponent were only Ignia, it could still be considered within the scope of a Century Quest, which Drake had the ability and obligation to handle himself.
However, with Zeref and the entire Alvarez Empire crashing the party, things were different.
At the very least, Mavis, the First Master of Fairy Tail, had become involved, and she needed to be informed.
Furthermore, for a large-scale war like this, Drake would need to rely on his companions and the strength of that "Fairy Strategist."
And as Drake had anticipated, upon hearing that a great war was about to break out, with opponents more terrifying than the last, the guild members were not fearful but excited.
This was not because they were battle-crazed individuals seeking war and bloodshed, but because they all understood the significance of this war.
Whether Zeref or Ignia emerged victorious, it was clear that the outcome would endanger the entire world.
To be honest, the guild members didn’t care much about the fate of this world, but they couldn’t stand by if their guildmates were harmed.
So, they shouted, "If the opponents declare war, then we fight!" and discussed together how to defeat both the Black Wizard and the dragons.
Well... that was quite in the style of Fairy Tail!
However, Drake was very interested in the intelligence Natsu and the others had brought back.
The rampaging Water Dragon God had been jointly stopped by the group, expending all his magic power but also regaining his sanity.
Afterward, the Water Dragon God provided them with two pieces of information.
First, the location of the Wood Dragon God. Second, the Gold Dragon God was related to the alchemist guild Golden Owl.
However, this was all information Drake already knew from the original story, so it wasn’t of much use.
It did, however, remind Drake of a few things. The first was about the Water Dragon God. Drake didn’t believe he had completely lost his power and become a normal human.
The Dragon Transformation magic constructed by the Great Labyrinth of Dogramag might reactivate his powers, and possibly even Selene’s. It would be troublesome if teammates suddenly turned into enemies after the war began, so these issues needed to be dealt with beforehand.
Secondly, there was the matter of the Gold Dragon God and Athena.
To be honest, Drake didn’t care about Athena, the "dragon-slaying weapon." Magic originated from the "heart" of a mage.
Until Athena truly gained emotions, even as an enemy, she wouldn’t be a major problem.
However, Drake had to be cautious about the Gold Dragon God. After all, the act of conceptualizing oneself was simply too exaggerated.
Such "out-of-spec" power was often the source of unexpected events, and in war, unexpected events were absolutely unwelcome.
Drake sighed. It seemed he needed to visit the Golden Owl before the war began to deal with the Gold Dragon God first.
He could also, as in the original story, try to recruit Athena to his side. For a war, any opportunity to strengthen oneself or weaken the enemy should not be missed.
Thinking this, a flash of inspiration struck Drake.
He had indeed been somewhat anxious about the impending war recently, and had forgotten that there was considerable room for maneuver within the Alvarez Empire.
That’s right, Drake was referring to the Spriggan 12, the strongest force within Zeref’s Alvarez Empire—twelve powerful mages with the ability to single-handedly destroy nations.
And among the Spriggan 12, Drake could currently think of two who could be persuaded. One of them was even among the two strongest of the Spriggan 12.
So Drake called a few companions aside, surveyed them, and said, "What I need to discuss with everyone today is about the opponents in the upcoming war. The opponents we might face could be somewhat special to you."
With that, Drake first looked at Lucy and said, "One of the Spriggan 12 of the Alvarez Empire is Brandish μ, the nation-destroyer. As for her identity, you can ask Aquarius.
So, Lucy, she’s your responsibility! Even if you can’t win her over to our side, you must at least get her to withdraw from the battle."
Brandish’s mother, Grammi, was a maid trusted by Lucy’s mother, Layla. In fact, Layla had even entrusted the Aquarius Star Dress key to her.
Brandish didn’t know that her mother was murdered by her colleague, Zoldio. She only knew that the Aquarius Star Dress key, once entrusted to her mother, had returned to Layla’s hands, so she believed Layla had killed her mother.
As long as the misunderstanding was cleared up, Brandish’s stance might change.
However, Lucy looked bewildered. She had no memory of Brandish and couldn’t understand why Drake was entrusting such a high-ranking enemy general to her.
She would definitely have to ask Aquarius about who exactly she was later.
Drake had great confidence in Lucy. After all, she was the protagonist. Although she often got into trouble and provided fanservice, her halo was still quite bright when it mattered.
With her current strength, it was not impossible for her to defeat Brandish head-on in her awakened state, let alone the fact that Brandish had a significant weakness.
The first was Brandish’s severe pollen allergy. In the original story, this was why she so carelessly became Fairy Tail’s captive.
Secondly, the Aquarius key was once held by Brandish’s mother, so young Brandish had undergone a period of "training" from Aquarius, to the point that Brandish now acted completely unlike a top mage when seeing Aquarius.
And now, with the Aquarius key still securely in Lucy’s possession, as long as Lucy summoned Aquarius, Brandish would be no problem.
Drake turned to look at Erza, his tone becoming slightly more serious, "Among the two strongest of the Spriggan 12, one bears the title ’Crimson Despair.’"
Upon hearing the word "Crimson," Erza couldn’t help but glance at her own hair, then asked, "What does she have to do with me?"
Drake replied, "Her name is Irene Belserion. She is likely the world’s strongest master of supplementary magic.
At the same time, she is the originator of Dragon Slayer magic, arguably the mother of Dragon Slayers. She is a person who has lived for four hundred years due to Dragonification.
But for you, most importantly... she is your mother."
Everyone was stunned; Drake’s words were simply too unbelievable.
Erza’s image to everyone was one of independence and strength. They simply couldn’t imagine what her mother would be like.
Natsu and the like probably thought Erza had sprung from a rock and had no mother at all.
However, Erza proved as strong as Drake had predicted. After a few moments of daze upon hearing such news, she spoke, "My mother? So, is she someone we can win over to our side?"
Drake shook his head and said, "It might not be that easy. Due to past experiences, your mother’s personality has changed considerably. Awakening the emotions deep within her heart won’t be easy."
Erza clenched her fist and said, "Don’t worry, I understand! Even if she is my mother, I won’t let her harm my comrades!"
Drake believed this; in fact, he had no doubts about the resolve of any member of the guild.
Finally, Drake looked at Mavis’s ghost, who was sitting to the side, swinging her little legs.
"First Master, the next issue is yours."
Mavis pointed to herself and asked, "I’m involved too?"
Drake’s expression was peculiar as he said, "The other of the two strongest among the Spriggan 12 is named August, titled the Wizard King.
He is your and Zeref’s son, a biological one!"

Everyone’s expressions were indeed as wonderfully varied as Drake had predicted!
