Chapter 298: What it looks like

Seoha’s POV

Taesan leans on me as we make our way through Hwangyeon.

Led by a guard, we make our way out of the building to join the group of people sitting at a round table outside.

"This place feels like it’s stuck in time" I say with a shy whisper, and Taesan nods.

His eyes are narrowed and they’re mapping out the whole place.

Hwangyeon feels like a private child born out of the mixing together of a town and a city.

"It does, doesn’t it?" I ask Taesan, tugging on his arm to pull him out of his restless monitoring.

My mountain tiger is tense and is slowly taking his protective form.

"Do you like places like this?" he asks and I crane my neck to look at him.

"Yes, this place is really cute" I say, waiting for Taesan to get down from the last step.

"Then I’ll build one for you" he says and I shake my head in refusal.

"I don’t want this. I just want you, me and our pups...and Mountain Atelier" I say, and at the mention of Mountain Atelier, Taesan’s face drops.

"Shit" he curse, finally getting off the step and breathing harshly from the effort.

"I’ll have to make some calls, and call Junho too" he says, running his fingers through his messy hair.

"Only when you’re rested, come on. They’re waiting for us" I say and we join the people waiting.

It’s the whole Hwang family.

Yujun is here and his mate, Jaehyun, is by his side with their children.

Grandma, Jisu and Yeon mom are next to each other. There’s also a man who’s as big as Taesan sitting next to Yeon.

The man follows Taesan’s movement with his eyes; I think he is the famed former Lord Hwang Hanuel.

There are two women clinging to each other. The brighter looking one is smiling warmly at us and leaning into the colder looking one.

Everyone looks so homey and comfortable with each other, and I can’t help but wonder...are they really a mafia family?

"Hurry, my baby" Grandma lifts her hand, beckoning for us to move faster.

"How do you feel, Taesan?" Yeon asks and my mate nods grimly. His lips pressed together in a straight line as he stares at everyone guardedly.

"You should say thank you" I whisper to him, but he ignores me.

We take our seat on the bench, and he immediately plants me on his lap in front of everyone.

Oh goddess...this man!

"Aww, Gawon, aren’t they the cutest?" the bright young lady says, and little Haeri lifts her head.

"I’m the cutest!" the little girl says, making Yujun sigh.

"Kang Taesan, I understand you are not familiar with us all, so I’ll introduce you to everyone" he says and gets up.

"This is my mother-in-law, Yeon, and this is his husband, Lord Hwang" Yujun gestures to Yeon and the man next to him.

Lord Hwang keeps looking at Taesan without saying a word, and I’m starting to get concerned.

"These are my pups, Haeri and Soobin" he gestures to his children with love in his eyes.

"And this is my younger sister, Yunah and her mate, Gawon" Yujun points at the female couple.

"Hi!" Yunah says brightly and Gawon mutters something under her breath.

They feel so...lived in that I can’t help but look at Taesan.

Will we have a home and future that feels like this?

Maybe a place with just us, Jisu, grandma, Minnie, Junho and the pups. It would be so beautiful.

"I’m Kang Taesan, captain of the underworld" Taesan introduces himself.

"I know who you are" Lord Hwang says coldly and Jaehyun looks between his father and my mate.

"No mafia duties at this table" Yeon says with authority and at the omega’s command, the building tension between Taesan and Lord Hwang simmers down.

I can’t help but stare with awe. The man’s command is so effective that even Taesan relaxes next to me.

Wow...I’ll have to become a cool omega like Yeon mom.

"We’re having chicken and beer" Yunah says brightly and Yujun gives her a scolding look.

"Oppa, we’ve established that I’m no longer a little pup" the girl says and Jisu laughs under her breath.

"Aigoo, this is such an unhealthy meal" my grandma complains as Yujun unpacks the delivery bag.

I watch everything quietly.

The breeze is blowing lightly and I’m leaning against a quiet Taesan as everyone eats, talks, and laughs.

My grandma fits right in with the Hwangs like she belongs, while Jisu keeps stealing glances at Taesan and I.

I can tell she’s comfortable with them, but she’s also not freeing herself to have fun since Taesan and I are still feeling awkward.

"Jisu keeps looking at us" I whisper to Taesan and he takes a sip of his beer.

"She is a member of our pack, so being around a new pack is fun but strange for her" my alpha says.

Our pack?

"But we didn’t establish a pack" I say, still keeping my voice low.

"We’re instinctive creatures. Our alphas, omegas, or betas know when they belong to a family" he explains and I nod.

Maybe that was why I didn’t run from Taesan when I had the chance even though I was terrified of him.

"That’s so touching" I blink away my tears, and he brings his face close to mine.

"It’s either that or she wants to see me kiss you" he says in a low voice and my eyes widen comically.

"Yah" I land a kitten punch on his forearm.

Taesan laughs and I fall more in love with the way he’s smiling at me.

"We’re having a family time and you two are talking by yourself" grandma says loudly and I turn my attention to her.

"Sorry" I say.

"Tsk. I blamed the big rock boy for being obsessive, but you’re just like him" my grandma says with a fake blush.

"Grandma, stop embarrassing me" I whine as all eyes turn to me. The introverted side of me is starting to come out and I’m likely to blush till I give myself a fever.

"Leave them alone...oh, someone is coming" Yeon mom says as he gets up again.

Haeri gets up as well and points at the gate.

"Mama! It’s my wife! It’s Sooinie" the little girl says, and I get to my feet just in time to see Yuki and Taerin coming in with my daughter.

"It’s Sooin" I whisper to Taesan with happiness.

"Daddy!" Sooin calls, and she sounds just like the first day she called me daddy in the hotel.

The day she changed my life.
