Chapter 142: 142: NOT AN IDEAL NEWS.

That night, Nyx wore a black hoodie to cover himself up as he left to meet Katy.

He had arrived at the street, strolling through with both hands in his hoodie’s pockets as he walked.

Not too long after, his phone beeped. Nyx paused as he pulled it out of his pocket and smiled at the message from June.

[How are you doing?]

Nyx smiled as he stared at the message for a while, thinking before responding.

[I’m fine. You?]

He stood there with a smile, waiting for a response, and June replied almost immediately.

[Fine.]

[Where are you now?]

Nyx hesitated. He looked around at the street where he was and figured that telling June about it would only be a hassle for him.

He didn’t want June worrying about him when he was just going out to meet someone. So, he casually smiled and replied.

[I’m at the dorm. Why? Do you miss me?]

June replied:

[You’re overthinking.]

Nyx smiled as he stared at June’s next message popping up.

[Be careful, okay? It’s not too safe out there without me. So remember to stay in at all times.]

[And always remember to let me know if you wish to go out, okay?!]

Nyx smiled as he replied.

[Okay. I’ll do so.]

They were done talking, and Nyx continued smiling at the messages. With a sigh, he looked up and put his phone back into his pocket.

Then, he immediately continued walking toward his destination.

But as he was about to make the final turn onto the street leading to the restaurant, Nyx came to an abrupt stop.

He stood there, staring at the scene ahead. At the people before him. And at that moment, he knew he was in trouble.

But it was already too late.

The last thing he could remember was gas rushing into his nostrils before his vision went blank.

---

[Hi.]

[How are you doing??]

[Where are you?]

[Are you busy?]

[I guess you are. Remember to text me or call me back when you’re free. I’m waiting!]

[Hi, you aren’t picking up your calls. Are you really busy? Call me when you’re free.]

[Hi. Are you okay?]

June kept resending messages at intervals throughout the day, but Nyx wasn’t responding to any of them.

He had tried calling as well, but his calls weren’t going through at all.

And while June sat on his bed that night, he grew extremely worried.

It had been a whole day since the last time he spoke to Nyx online, and now Nyx suddenly wasn’t responding to his messages at all.

He was worried as endless scenarios ran through his head, but he brushed them all off, hoping that Nyx was simply too busy to reply.

"That’s probably it. He’s at school, so maybe they did another test or something," he comforted himself with the thought.

But even then, something wasn’t sitting right with June, and he felt the need to confirm that everything was okay.

Late that night, June immediately called Ryan, who was already asleep.

"Eh? What’s it?" Ryan got up from bed, adjusting his glasses. "Why are you calling so late... or early...?"

June explained that Nyx wasn’t answering his calls or replying to his messages, and that he was worried.

"Help me check on him tomorrow, okay?" he requested.

Ryan ran a hand over his eyes with a yawn. "You lovebirds never give a single person a minute to sleep, I see..." He yawned again. "Okay, then. If you’re so worried, I’ll check on him. Okay?"

"Thanks a lot. You’re the best," June said before they ended the call.

With that, June grew too anxious to even sleep that night. He couldn’t help but wonder what was wrong with Nyx, whether he was okay or if something had really happened to him.

He guessed he’d have to wait until the next day for Ryan to bring him the news.

And waiting was literally killing him at that moment.

But the news did come the next day.

---

June was asleep when his phone rang. He instantly woke up and picked up the call from Ryan.

"Hello?"

June didn’t hesitate. He immediately began asking questions.

"So? What did you find out? What happened?"

Ryan hesitated before breaking the news to him.

"I couldn’t find Nyx around the academy at all."

"I asked around, and no one saw him. The last time they saw him was the day before yesterday. Yesterday, he wasn’t around the academy at all..."

As soon as he heard the news, June gasped. At that moment, he could tell that his worst fear had already come to pass.

And it wasn’t a good thing at all.

He was more than certain at this point that Mr. Kevin had succeeded in his plan in collaboration with Mr. and Mrs. Faux.

June gasped as he struggled to hold the phone firmly.

"Hello? Are you there...?" Ryan asked.

June struggled to speak. "Are you free? Can we meet up today?" he requested. "Nyx’s in trouble. We have to find him right now..."

"Of course I am," Ryan said. "Drop the address, and I’ll meet you as soon as I can," he assured him before they ended the call.

June didn’t hesitate. Panicking and struggling to walk steadily, he made his way to get changed without even remembering that he was yet to take his bath or anything.

Nyx was missing, and that was the most important thing at the moment. So, he immediately changed into something and rushed toward the door.

But as soon as he opened it, he was met with Grey standing there.

Grey had been standing at June’s door for a while, contemplating how he was going to knock and go in. He had been thinking about how to ask June his questions and everything else he wanted to know.

But June had already opened the door.

Now, the two of them stood opposite each other, staring at each other without a word.

After a while, Grey finally spoke.

"I need to talk to you about something."
