As Adam stood, he yawned, having finished the rings. There were four, and as he picked one up, he dropped to a knee, and held the ring up to his wife. “Darling…”
“Again?” Vonda joked.
“No matter how many times I ask you to marry me, it probably won’t be enough,” Adam replied, and with that, he slipped the ring onto one of his wife’s fingers.
“What does it do?” Vonda asked, feeling the gentle magic running through it, and as she spied it, she turned her hand, admiring the simple design, and she turned it once more, noting the rose intricately carved upon the signet, that which was obviously designed by the hand of her adorable son.
“It grants a bonus to enchanting,” Adam replied, and he claimed a ring for himself, though as he was about to place it on his finger, Vonda’s fingers plucked it from his, and then slipped it onto one of his fingers. He had picked one with a leaf, and he smiled, though as they slipped it on he frowned. “We probably shouldn’t wear this in case someone finds out they’re rings that give a bonus to enchanting.”
“It will be fine, for if they assume we are enchanters, they will not believe we are the Enchanter.”
“Ah, I guess so…” Adam shrugged his shoulders, and with that, the two held hands and made their way out.
Vonda stopped them after a few minutes, turning to look towards her husband, her eyes glistening with a playfulness her daughter inherited.
“What?”
“You were meant to Fabricate.”
“Oh man. I was…”
“I wanted to tell you now so you would have to walk back and I would have more time with the children.”
“You really are your daughter’s mother.”
“Which daughter?” Vonda asked, and as Adam smirked, she winked. With that she sauntered off.
Adam turned, but paused. He considered calling out to his wife, but he waddled back to the shrine.
Since he had finished his enchanting for the week, it meant he had an additional day to spend with his family, and he could easily spend most of his manage the next day just creating various items, and once he was done, he would be able to surprise his children by returning early.
As the next day came, and he completed his plot, he returned to find his children were not within the complex.
“Where are they?” Adam asked, turning towards Jurot, who was whittling away the various horses.
“They went to see those of the business,” Jurot replied, blowing against the wooden horse.
“How’s the carving going?”
“Good. How was work?”
“Good.” Adam nodded, and Jurot nodded in return. Adam turned upon his heel. He approached a particular place, but found his triplets turning towards him, even as Jonn was in the middle of revealing his swordplay to them, topless. “Hey! Hey! Put a top on! There are children about!”
“Daddy, I’m going to get jacked like baba too,” Jirot said, scrambling to her feet as she rushed over to her father, her younger brother and sister following after her.
“What about jacked like me?”
“No, you have too many muscles.” Jirot side eyed her father.
“You’re good,” Adam whispered, holding out his palm for the girl to low five. “Our daughter is too charming.”
“She is neither too charming, or lacking in charm, a Scribe Mage is as charming as she…” Vonda paused. “Means to be.”
“Okay, look, you guys need to chill on the references.”
“It is your fault,” Vonda said.
“You say it so much, daddy.”
“No I don’t.”
“Daddy, yesterday when you can back late, what did you say?”
“Okay, that was one time.”
“Daddy, you said it after we came back from wishing Mustafa a happy birthday.”
“I did?”
“Yes!” the children each said.
Adam shrugged his shoulders. Then he gave Jirot a pointed look. He thought a particular phrase.
“Do not try it. I have the high ground.”
“How did you know?”
“Daddy, I know, I know, of coas.”
“Of coas,” came the echo.
Fred awaited for them to continue their little play so he could step forward and reveal his own swordplay to them. Even if the children had seen greater swordplay than his own, they were Iyrmen, and so any swordplay was fun to see, whether it was good or not.
‘My magical sword is beautiful too, at least,’ Fred thought.
It was at another place where a particular figure stepped out. He was short, with long white hair, green eyes, and he wore a large greatsword upon his back.
“What are you doing here?” Baztam asked, eyeing up his grandniece, who was in the middle of swinging her greatblade a hundred times.
“Training,” Haytam replied.
“I thought you would be with the farmerguard.”
“He is a Lead now.”
“Mmm…”
“Do you disapprove.”
“I suppose he is at least an Expert.”
“I will whip him into shape.”
“Why?”
Haytam paused, and tilted her head. “He has a fire in his heart.”
“He is Aldish.”
“He is Florian.”
Baztam paused a long moment, considering Rock Hill, and then realised it was technically Florian. “Hmm.”
“If you speak of me of my marriage once more, I will tell my niece.”
“Which niece?”
“The one who calls my uncle her baba.”
Baztam thought of his brat of a nephew, who had fought rather well recently. “I cannot believe he is a Master.”
Haytam’s sword stopped. “Me neither.”
‘I suppose if he was to marry the Mad Dog’s daughter, he needed to be at least a Master?’
At the estate with the business members, Adam settled himself, all the while Rick, Charley, and Greg each returned, noting the appearance of the guests, each grand guests, from the Crazy Father, to the Ray, and to those who were grander than even they, their children.
“Lead Rick!” Jirot called, almost causing his heart to burst from the stress of speaking with the second most terrifying child. “Working hard?”
“Hardly working,” Rick joked.
Jirot cackled, and held out her hand, and Rick lowfived her gently. “You are so funny, Lead Rick.”
“Please speak of your father to pay me one additional silver for my good joke.”
“Daddy, daddy, you must pay Lead Rick an additional silver for the good joke!”
“Dear, you know that your mother was the one who assisted in making the pay brackets, so if the Lead does not like how much money he earns…” Adam raised his brows.
Jirot gasped, her head snapping to Rick, who closed his eyes, hoping he could slip away from existing.
