[1735] – Y07.235 – The Children Are So Cute V

  • Next Chapter

Adam seemed to have been taken by death that day, for as he returned, the children all stared up at him.

‘Do you know how difficult it is to take basically 20D6 damage every single day?’ Adam returned with his eyes, though they wouldn’t understand, and though he healed himself with his magic, it was still a terrible sensation, and after he had allowed an Iyrman to learn enchanting, through his very specific way, losing his EXP he had earned, the half elf let out a long sigh.

Even so, it was best to do this, for the half elf seemed gaunt, it was best for the business if he Awakened many Iyrmen to assist with the enchanting. His deal with Jaygak seemed to be quite fair, too, and he hoped the Iyr would accept all the tax he was willing to pay in exchange, although, he supposed even if he didn’t offer them that much, they would have accepted, for the Iyr was always wanting for enchanters.

‘I really am insanely powerful, aren’t I?’ Adam thought, and as his twins held onto him tightly, to the point even little Virot was frowning for the sight of her pale, gaunt father, who was almost a ghoul. The girl clutched her mother, huddled within her mother’s arms.

Thankfully, the next day was a set of birthdays Adam had been excited for, as he revealed the greatsword to the twins, the teens staring down at the long blades, one red, one blue.

“Thank you, cousin Adam!” Kalokan declared, reaching out to hug her cousin, far too tightly for someone who was that sick, however, she looked down towards Jirot, blinking towards the girl, who flushed lightly, smirking playfully.

“Obviously, the red one is for you, Kalokan, for you are so fiery!” Adam returned, hugging Kalokan, and he tried to lift her up, but was unable to, not as a joke, for he was truly that sick. He did so for Damokan too, who whispered a thanks into the half elf’s ear. “My quiet, cold Damokan, the blue sword is for you.”

Damokan hugged his cousin in return, and it was this time he realised his cousin was so small, for once the half elf could blot out the sun with his height, and now he was…

Just a man.

The others also gifted Damokan and Kalokan their gifts, including little Inakan, who brought over a bracelet for each, and little Mokan, who brought up a ribbon for each, one blue, for Damokan, one red, for Kalokan.

Minakan and Alykan had brought out a pair of books, one with a blue cover, the other with a red cover, while Naqokan brought them a dagger, one blue, one red, that which she had bought in Aswadasad earlier in the year.

“You are both so grown up now…” Naqokan said, hugging each of them tightly, squeezing them with great effort within her powerful muscles. It was only yesterday they were little children, and yet now they had grown up to reach even her chest. It was not long ago when she could easily carry the pair within one arm, barely the size of her torso.

“Since it’s my day off, I suppose it’s time we play some Warriors and Wanderers?”

“Ock! Kako, papo, we found three of the Blood Seals of Doragu!” Jirot said, staring at the twins. “We only need four more and we can slay the Dragon God of Celestia!”

“Why are we slaying the Dragon God of Celestia?” Kalokan asked. “He has been our staunch ally…”

“He betrayed us, kako, he betrayed us.”

“How?”

“He killed Bokold the Kobold.”

Kalokan’s lips formed a circle, her eyebrows shooting up. “No!”

“Yes!”

“The seventh?”

“The eight and ninth too!”

Kalokan continued to gasp. “No! No! Not our Bokolds!”

“I know!”

Adam smiled, and with that he collected his notes, and began to prepare for the game quickly as the rest of the children prepared themselves, and they played alongside their kakos and papos, this time the twins played with the twins, and later the triplets would play with them, and then the rest of the teens would join them.

Vonda assisted little Jarot and Jirot so Damrot and Kalokan could remind themselves of the system, and Naqokan assisted Minakan and Alykan, who played alongside their elder siblings.

Pamarot laughed wildly as she tossed the dice, the dice which she had almost put into her mouth, but Adam had made sure she tossed it properly, however as it was out of her hand, she pouted, until Adam began to blow raspberries into her stomach, causing the girl to cackle and cry out, squealing in utter delight.

“Pamarot, our Pamarot! Who allowed you to be so cute? You are so cute, so chubby, just like… I guess your grandfather has betrayed you by getting jacked, huh?”

“Goo!”

Monarot stared up at him in surprise, for she wasn’t used to seeing him this way, and she turned to her mother, blinking up towards her. Thankfully Pam brushed along her cheek and distracted her away from Adam.

As the evening came to them, Adam settled himself in the corner, for the children remained with their papo and kako, showering them with affection.

“Are you alright?” Vonda asked, sitting beside him.

“I’m fine.” Adam peeked out to his wife. “Seeing all these children about, are you okay?”

“It is the Mother’s blessing that I am surrounded by so many children,” Vonda replied, smiling warmly.

“I mean, if you want more children around…” Adam wiggled his brows towards his wife, smirking playfully.

“If you wish for it.”

Adam let out a soft sight, and then glanced to the side, towards little Pamarot. “We should let Pamarot have all the attention for now.”

The baby girl was within her mother’s arms, reaching out to her mother’s face.

“Although… Jirot did expect a new sibling soon…” Adam mused.

“I see…” Vonda sighed. “Jirot is so hard to defeat.”

It was then a shadow formed over the estate, and the Elder made her way towards a particular pair in the corner, though paused, allowing the children to greet her.

“What’s up?” Adam asked.

“The Iyr is no longer doing business with Aldland, until the matter is settled.”

“The matter?”

“Of Death Dog.”

“Aaah!” Adam nodded. “Oh. Right, I guess we don’t have to do business with Aldland. What fortunate timing we went to Aswadasad when we did.”

“The Countess of Red Oak must be in great pain…” Jaygak said, though her smile threatened to swallow them whole.

Adam, too, smiled, and as he looked to his children, he stood, for the good news brought him renewed strength. He stepped out, with Vonda following a short ways behind him, also wishing to walk after hearing the news.

‘I need to figure out how to pivot the business to something more…’

Vonda wondered if the restriction applied to Life’s Rose. Even if it did, could she still ask Adam? She couldn’t. Could she?
