Beast Bonding System: Cutting Ties In A Post Apocalyptic World.
Chapter 427: Act of temporary madness.
Logan was still on the floor, wiping blood from his mouth and picking up his missing teeth. He looked around, completely unaware that everyone had just watched one of his darkest secrets on their screens. He rose and pointed at Hunter with pure rage.
"You hit me?!" Logan spit out blood and snarled. "You little bastard! Just wait! I swear I am going to deal with you later."
Zyra stepped forward, her shoes clicking softly against the marble tiles. She looked down at Logan with eyes as cold as ice. "Save your threats for another lifetime, Logan," She said calmly, her voice echoing clearly in the silent room. "Because after what everyone just saw, your crimes are surely going to get you executed before sunset."
Logan froze. "What do you mean my dear?" He smiled, wiping more blood from his mouth. "You should be condemning the wild animal who had just assaulted me, not making weird speeches!"
His eyes darted nervously around the room, feeling deeply uncomfortable with the cold, disgusted looks everyone was giving him. It made no sense to him_ he was clearly the victim here!
Loveline stepped out from the crowd, her mouth hanging open. She finally spoke what everyone else was thinking. "You... you killed Lita?"
Logan froze, shocked by her question. "What are you talking about?! Who is Lita?"
"Samuel Frood sent everyone a gift before he died....the video of you killing your daughter and her mother." Zyra shared with a big smile. She didn’t want to admit that she had done it, in case Logan had what it took to seek revenge.
Logan jumped to his feet, his mouth wide open yet no words came out. After the 6 hours had passed and no video surfacing, he had thought that he was in the clear. Logan had thought Samuel’s words had been common threats like he had suspected but no, that motherfucker had screwed him over!
Before anyone could chime in, the giant TV screen mounted on the wall suddenly clicked on with a loud beep! The exact video played on the big screen in full high definition, blasting the audio throughout the entire lounge.
Logan’s face drained of all color. He shook his head frantically, his remaining teeth chattering. "N-no! That’s not true! I’ve been set up! This is a complete fake!"
Zyra tilted her head, her voice calm and innocent. "Oh? Are you saying that Samuel set you up?"
Logan smiled_ a big, foolish grin, almost like he thought Zyra had asked that because she finally understood his awful plight. "Yes! Exactly!" He announced loudly to the crowd, feeling relieved. "The video is manipulated! Samuel is the one who actually killed them! He framed me. I don’t even know those women."
Zyra looked at him with deep sympathy in her eyes. She handed it to him a bottle of water that was laced with the oath sap. "Here. Drink some water first and calm down. You look very stressed."
Logan took the bottle with trembling hands. "Thank you, Zyra. Thank you for being so understanding and reasonable! This is why I want to marry you."
He uncapped it and gulped down huge sips, wiping his chin before handing the half-empty bottle back to her.
Zyra quietly spoke to the system. ’Beauty, broadcast everything happening right now live to all public channels.’
The wall screen flickered, and across the city—on thousands of street billboards, TV screens, and link bands_ a live feed of the guest lounge popped up.
Zyra took a step back and looked at Logan. "Logan, was Lita Frood your biological daughter?"
Logan opened his mouth to say no, but his tongue betrayed him. "Yes!"
Immediately, Logan slapped both hands over his mouth, his eyes bulging in absolute terror. He shook his head wildly, trying to force the truth back down his throat.
The grand elder stepped forward, his voice thundering through the room. "Did you kill her?"
Logan pinched his lips tight together, pressing his fingers against his mouth until his knuckles turned white. But the oath sap in the water was far too strong. His lips burst open, and the words tumbled out like a runaway train.
"Yes! I killed Lita! And I killed Ursula too, because those two useless women were going to ruin my plan of marrying Zyra. They deserved it."
A collective scream of horror erupted through the room.
"Arrest him!" the grand elder roared, veins bulging on his neck. "Guards! Grab this monster right now!"
Hunter stepped up, leaning down close to Logan’s panicked face. "Who else did you kill, you psycho?"
Logan blinked rapidly, his jaw moving entirely on its own. "Samuel, Celeste, Antonio....."
The moment the name Celeste left Logan’s lips, Mr. Claw froze. His face went completely pale, and a heartbroken cry ripped from his throat. "No! Not my Celeste! Whose name did he say?"
The grand elder cut in directly and asked, "Logan, did you kill your wife?"
Logan tried to stop himself, but his mouth betrayed him. "How else was I going to re-marry unless she died? She deserved it too. That ugly bitch held on to the position of my wife for too long. If it wasn’t for her father’s money, why else would I tolerate her ugly face. Do you know how hard it was to eat while staring at her? And don’t get me started on the bedroom--"
Before anyone could even blink, Mr. Claw pulled a small silver gun from his inner jacket pocket, aimed straight at Logan, and pulled the trigger.
Logan flopped backward with wide eyes, and a look of pain on his face.
Loveline let out a scream so loud it could have shattered glass.
Zyra quickly tapped her wrist. "System, stop broadcasting."
The live feed cut to black.
The mayor_ now very much ex-mayor_ lay motionless on the marble floor. Around the room, several soul maidens looked at the body, then looked at each other, and slowly folded their arms. Not a single one of them made a move to heal him.
Mr. Claw dropped to his knees, the gun sliding from his hand. Tears streamed down his face as he sobbed bitterly into his hands. "My sweet Celeste... I should have known! I let a killer marry her!"
Aaron rushed to his father’s side, wrapping his arms around the crying old man. "It’s okay, Father. Come on, let’s go home. You got justice for Celeste, now we must get custody for her children. The Speggers will never raise our blood."
A few guards quietly carried Logan’s lifeless body out of the lounge, and Aaron helped his father stand up. The Claws left immediately after, looking broken and exhausted, while the Speggers hid their faces as they left in shame. They knew they were screwed from now on. The Claws would ruin them.
Some Speggers were already planning to take what they could and run to another nation.
In their hurry to save themselves, they forgot to claim Logan’s body!
