Chapter 412: An affair!

Hunter let out a heavy, loud sigh, his shoulders slumping as he lowered his head. He braced himself and asked, "Trinity, or mother empress, as you prefer, tell me everything you know about my birth father and how I came to be born."

He held his breath, and Zyra did the same, waiting for the big revelation.

Trinity blinked her glossy, unfocused eyes and drawled, "I don’t know who your birth father is."

Hunter snapped his head up, staring into Zyra’s eyes in disbelief. Zyra’s jaw dropped in absolute shock, mirroring Hunter’s exact expression. Trinity was under the overwhelming influence of the Oath Sap_ it was physically impossible for her to lie right now! If she said she didn’t know, she genuinely had no clue!

Zyra shook her head frantically. "Wait, wait. Maybe we’re asking the wrong question! Trinity, who was Sabrina’s sperm donor?"

Hunter leaned in closer, his voice dark and commanding. "Tell us every single detail you know about my mother’s artificial insemination!"

Trinity burst into a sloppy, loud laugh, looking like someone who had chugged three barrels of cheap wine. She scratched her head messily. "Ah... that! It all started when I told the girls the real, juicy story of how Eve Johnson actually got that famous Somnivore from whom she harvested the first core."

Zyra frowned, interrupting her. "Hold on. Who are ’the girls’?"

"Sabrina Kaelion, Tori Demerides, and Zena Scorpion," Trinity slurped out.

Zyra’s heart skipped a beat, her brows knitting together tightly upon hearing her own mother’s name, Zena Scorpion. How on earth was my mother dragged into this mess!? She shook her head violently to dispel any rising suspicious thoughts, focusing back on Trinity.

Trinity continued her rambling narration, swaying on her knees. "You see, everyone thinks Eve and the first seven soul maidens fought that Somnivore heroically and captured him. Total lie! The real truth is that Eve seduced the foolish Somnivore named Zolger! After that foolish freak fell head-over-heels in love with her and gave her all his trust, Eve betrayed him! She drugged, led to his capture, and ripped out his core. But that wasn’t the only thing taken from him in the lab. Eve had samples of his sperm that she had been secretly keeping during the term of their relationship. She had stored them secretly in one of the Johnson family’s high-security labs!"

Zyra gasped loudly. "Holy shit!" She whispered. This was the kind of revelation that would make news. It changed everything they knew about Soul maiden origins...especially, the first heroic seven. It also changed what they knew about Somnivores. Apparently, they could fall in love with humans! They didn’t blindly hate the entire race.

Trinity cackled softly. "After I told the girls that secret story back in the day, Tori tilted her head and asked, ’Why keep the sperm? What would a half Somnivore offspring even look like?’ I told her that Eve had run trials before, but all the human girls died during the process... they did not get past the first trimester, and no Soul Maiden was willing to volunteer as a test subject. So, the samples were just locked away forever. But then, out of nowhere... Sabrina stood up and said she wanted to try it! She said she was happy to do it!"

Hunter squeezed his eyes shut in disbelief. "I can’t believe what I am hearing."

"We all laughed it off back then, thinking it was a joke!" Trinity grinned like a maniac. "But a few days later, Sabrina came to me with a dead serious face and said she wanted to do it. I was super curious, so I agreed to help her. But when we checked the stored samples in the lab... they were completely ruined! Not viable anymore! Sabrina was so disappointed, but she swore she wasn’t giving up."

Trinity leaned forward, her voice dropping into a dramatic gossip whisper. "Months passed, and we all forgot about that. But then, then Sabrina secretly confessed to me that she was having a real relationship with a Somnivore."

What!? Both Hunter and Zyra gasped so loud it echoed through the entire cell. "A relationship?"

Trinity nodded like a bobblehead. "Yep! A real one! This Somnivore had fallen deeply for her, and Sabrina planned to do the exact same thing Eve did_ gain his trust and steal his sperm and core! The other girls thought she was totally insane, but I cheered her on, especially after she took it a step further and actually got pregnant! She lied to Horas, telling him it was an artificial insemination, and everything moved smoothly... at first."

Trinity chuckled darkly, shaking her head. "But the pregnancy was hell on her. It was like the child was sucking all the nutrients from her. Her hair fell out, her teeth, her skin turned gray! Others get a pregnancy glow, she got the opposite, whatever that is. Then, two months after Hunter was born, Sabrina came to see me. She was very infuriated! She smashed things, shot a few transport beasts, and drunk a full bottle of wine by herself. When she was sober enough, she told me what had happened. The Somnivore dumped her! He called it off, saying she was not worthy of him."

"It wasn’t like she was in love with him, so why was she so angry?" Hunter asked, his fists clenching tight.

"Because her master plan failed!" Trinity laughed hysterically. "Sabrina wanted to use you, Hunter, to trap that Somnivore and make him give up the secrets of his race and location of other Somnivores! She went through an excruciatingly painful childbirth that literally put her in a coma for days, all for that plan. And then the guy just backed out! That’s why she hated you so much from that day...calling you useless! You were a constant reminder of her failed scheme and probably, greatest humiliation!"

Trinity stroked her chin, her eyes rolling. "Later, I found out Sabrina wanted to use that Somnivore’s core to make herself the ultimate hero and transfer the Divine Soul Maiden title exclusively to the Kaelion family. I threatened her, saying if she ever tried it, I’d expose her secret! But then Zena, with her loose mouth, started demanding that Sabrina confess everything to her father right away. Miss save the world was worried that the hybrid child could become a weapon the Somnivores would use to cause mayhem. Sabrina begged Zena for ten years... at least until Hunter was old enough to understand who or what he was."

Trinity snickered mockingly. "Sabrina was never going to let that secret out anyway. Exposing it wouldn’t just destroy her_ it would drag the entire prestigious Kaelion family straight into the mud!"

Hunter took a deep breath, swallowing the heavy, bitter truth down his throat. He stared at Trinity’s blank face. "I get it now. But... do you really not have the slightest clue who my biological father actually is?"

Trinity shook her head sluggishly. "No. Not a clue. Sabrina was determined not to share that part of the story. She knew that if she did, I would go looking for that Somnivore, kill him, take the core and claim the glory for myself."
