Beast Bonding System: Cutting Ties In A Post Apocalyptic World.
Chapter 390: Beast Buffet.
The scene they walked into, was like something out of a nightmare. The beasts raining from the sky and corners of the stadium weren’t normal feral beasts_ they were huge, mutated King Beasts, whose bodies were weapons.
They weren’t just killing humans, they were actively hunting and chewing them up like snack chips. They were slaughtering defenseless half-life beasts too. They seemed to have only one command in mind: kill.
"Form the perimeter! Wind blades, left flank!" Sabrina’s voice boomed over the screams.
Zyra looked up and saw her mother-in-law. The woman had already arrived in the stadium, her sword spinning like a hurricane as she sliced a two-headed flying horse in half. A group of soul Maidens immediately fell into formation behind her, summoning heavy gales of wind to push back the encroaching beasts.
But the King Beasts were too huge, their hides so thick that the wind blades barely left scratches on their scales. This new breed of ferocious beasts seemed to be prepared for the strongest attacks of Soul maidens.
"They’re too tough!" Claudia cried out, dodging a massive claw. "Our martial techniques aren’t penetrating, no matter how much soul energy we inject into them."
The same went for bullets. Most of these creatures seemed to have impenetrable skins!
Meanwhile, the major Guilds were fighting for their lives, but without their half-life beasts bonded to them, the human fighters were basically punching brick walls with bare hands.
"My fists aren’t doing anything!" a guild warrior yelled, throwing a fiery punch at an Armored Mountain Gorilla King.
The Gorilla King didn’t even flinch. It picked the guy up by his leg, popped him into its mouth like a salted peanut, and crunched.
The other guild members screamed, scattering in panic. Without borrowing strength from the beasts, they were basically back to being ants.
Across the field, an amber skin lizard with a tail the size of a train, slammed its tail into a group of twenty elite soldiers. The impact turned the ground into a crater, squishing twenty five of them into pancakes on the spot.
Another soldiers tried to shoot one of the lizard’s eyes, but the beast bit his hand and the rifle in half and let out a roar so loud the man’s ears literally started bleeding before he was swiped across the arena like a hockey puck.
"Help! Someone please save me!" a heavy stadium guard sobbed as an Acid-Spitting Toad jumped and landed right in front of him. The toad didn’t even bite_ it just belched a thick cloud of green acid, instantly melting the guy’s steel armor and turning him into a puddle of goo in three seconds.
Even Ava and her squad were struggling, barely holding their ground as they tried to drag screaming people behind barricades. "Stay together! Don’t let them break the line!" Ava yelled, stabbing her blade into the throat of a skinless panther.
In the center of the biggest ring, the Grand Elder stood like an unmovable mountain, his fists glowing with raw golden aura. Beside him, Maverick moved like a whirlwind, slicing down any beast that dared step within ten feet of the old man.
"Grandpa! Don’t die yet, we just reunited!" Hunter roared as he dropped out of the sky, slamming his fists into a bear beast and blowing its head off.
"You insolent rascal, I’m fine!" the Grand Elder snapped, kicking a beast’s corpse away. "Do not look down on this old man."
Elliot who was wrestling a faceless bull saw Hunter. "There you are brother." He began to fight his way towards him, a dark glint in his eyes.
While the arena ground was covered in blood and chaos, the person who caused half the mess was currently running for her life in the basement parking garage.
Thanks to the bullets that had shattered her VIP booth, Trinity had managed to slip away during the initial panic. She wasn’t thinking about saving her people, her soldiers, or her dignity. Her only goal was surviving.
"Idiots! All of them!" Trinity panted, her high heels snapping as she sprinted between parked luxury cars. "Let the beasts eat them all! As long as I live, I can rebuild!"
She was delighted the monsters had crashed the party. If they hadn’t, she would currently be in handcuffs waiting for execution.
Out of all the world leaders in the VIP boxes, only she and the Mayor had managed to crawl out alive. The rest? Eaten, crushed, or shot dead in the first thirty seconds.
Trinity hid behind a massive concrete pillar, gasping for air. She bit her lip and tried to summon her beast. "Come forth, darling Swan!"
Nothing happened.
She tried again, sweating profusely. "Swan! swan come to me!"
Still, complete silence. She could barely feel a spark of its energy inside her.
"Dammit! Useless beast!" Trinity cursed under her breath. She raised her arm and looked at the link band with trembling hands and dialed Julia’s number.
Ring... ring... ring... No answer.
"Answer the phone, you stupid woman!" Trinity hissed, smashing the phone against the pillar in frustration. "Where are you?"
To make matters ten times worse, half of the United Troops and sanctum guards that were loyal to her weren’t even in the capital_ they were all the way in the Wild Lands, completely out of reach. The other half were scattered in different parts of the world and beyond the veil.
But that was not the worst thing happening to her. She had tried to teleport out of the stadium dozens of times, to no avail. She couldn’t even feel her abundant soul energy. It was like something was eating away at it, slowly. Something was wrong--very wrong.
Suddenly, a low, guttural growl echoed through the dark garage.
Trinity’s blood ran cold. She slowly peeked around the pillar.
The biggest purple wolf she had ever seen was pacing slowly down the aisle, its eyes scanning the rows of cars. Its jaws were dripping with black saliva that sizzled as it hit the concrete floor.
Trinity covered her mouth with both hands, tears of pure terror leaking from her eyes. She pressed her back as hard as she could against the concrete, praying to every deity in existence.
If I get out of this alive, Trinity swore silently in her head, I will run straight to the Wild Lands!I’ll take control of the army, make it my personal kingdom, and then I’ll come back here and burn every single one of these people to ashes! Just let me live!
Unluckily for her, the purple wolf was an alpha. More of its pack poured into the garage.
Outside in the stadium meanwhile, the battle was only getting worse.
A giant sixteen-legged brown Spider descended from the partially closed ceiling of the stadium on a thick thread of black silk. It dropped right into the middle of a fifty-man military formation.
"Hold the line! Use your shields!" the captain yelled.
The Spider didn’t care about their shields. It opened its maw and sprayed a sticky web over the entire group, pinning thirty men to the ground instantly. Before they could slice themselves free, the spider spat a torrent of black flame.
"It burns! I am on fire!" a mercenary shrieked, rolling around on the ground like a burning tumbleweed while his comrades scrambled away in absolute terror.
Human martial arts were great against other humans, but against a wave of feral King Beasts without their own half-life beasts to balance the scale? It wasn’t a battle.
It was a buffet, and the humans were the main course.
