Beast Bonding System: Cutting Ties In A Post Apocalyptic World.
Chapter 342: Get rid of old trash.
Regret rushed through Lita’s veins like ice water.
The divine maiden had explicitly warned her to get rid of Jimmy. Perhaps she had seen this mess coming, after all, she was the divine maiden.
Lita still couldn’t understand how she had managed to get pregnant for Jimmy. She had been extra careful! She took the pregnancy control pill every single time she had been with him. Sometimes she took two, just in case the first one did not do the job. In fact, she had always gone the extra mile to buy and drink rank, bitter herbal pregnancy prevention tonics that tasted like swamp water and despair.
So how in the world was she pregnant!? The universe was truly not fair to her! Did Jimmy have magic sperm? Had the pills been expired? Did the herb seller scam me with the tonics!? Why..why...why did I keep sleeping with this idiot? The sex was not even that good. I could have asked the divine maiden for help in finding something I could use to control Jimmy. And Sabrina had already given me permission to visit the Sanctum. So, why did I keep sleeping with this poor bastard? Lita’s inner core quivered with sheer panic. This was a nightmare scenario she hadn’t seen coming.
Jimmy stared at her, a cocky smile lingering on his lips as he watched her literally sweat in fear. He leaned against the car chair seat, twirling a tooth-pick. "So, my little mistress, what’s the plan? I am not playing around with you, just think of all that you have to lose that is if master Elliot does not kill you first. I am willing to risk my life, what about you? Can you afford to take risks like me?"
Of course she couldn’t, and that was why she needed to remove the risk, Lita thought quickly. She glanced over at the streets outside_ they were jam-packed with people, noisy street vendors, and hovering ox-carts stuck in a big gridlock. Steel cars honking for passage and half-life beasts making all sorts of noise. An idea sparked in her desperate mind.
She let out a heavy sigh, shifting her gaze back to him, putting on the act of a defeated woman. "Alright, fine. Jimmy, I am going to give you 2 million energy stones. But I want you to resign from your job, leave the city....the country, and do not ever contact me again."
Jimmy’s eyes widened to the size of gold coins. He sucked his teeth with a loud tch and nodded vigorously. "Alright, alright! I will do as you say. Make it 5 million and I’m a ghost. Think about this, your child could be the Master Elliot’s heir. Do you want me coming back the day he takes power? 5 million is a buy out of my parental rights. I will never show my face to you again."
He said the words, but his eyes screamed otherwise. All Lita saw reflected in his pupils was bottomless, shameless greed. Give a rogue a low-grade stones, he wants mid-grade ones. Give him 5 million, he’ll want the whole Kaelion fortune in future. If this child becomes lucky enough to take the highest seat in the family someday, he will definitely return.
She jutted her chin toward the bustling street. "The bank is only four buildings ahead. The traffic jam is crazy, so we might as well walk."
"Lead the way, my Mistress. " Jimmy replied smugly.
They set off, neither of them realizing that Teddy was stealthily trailing behind them, ducking behind moving obstacles like a clumsy spy.
As they walked, Lita strategically passed by a general store. "Wait here, I need to grab some things that Elliot needs." she muttered. She ducked inside, quickly buying a few random items_ and secretly sliding a small kitchen knife into her sleeve.
Stepping back out, Lita gauged the crowd and picked a spot right in front of a tea shop_ the absolute busiest bottleneck on the street where a sale was ongoing.
Suddenly, Lita wobbled. Her eyes rolled back, and she let out a dramatic, opera-worthy gasp. She fainted forward.
"Whoa! Hey!" Jimmy rushed forward and caught her by the shoulders. "Are you okay?!"
In a split second, while his hands were busy holding her up, Lita whipped out the kitchen knife, shoved the handle directly into Jimmy’s hand, and forcefully wrapped his fingers around it.
Before Jimmy could even process the cold metal against his palm, Lita leaped backward with the agility of an acrobatic monkey, threw her hands in the air, and shrieked at the top of her lungs:
"HELP! Help me, please! This maniac is trying to hurt me! He’s trying to rob me at knife point!"
Jimmy froze. He looked at the knife in his hand, then looked at Lita, his brain completely short-circuiting. "Wait__ what? Are you crazy?!"
"Help! Somebody, save me!" Lita squealed, squeezing out two tiny, tragic tears.
The effect was instantaneous. The crowded street exploded. Women dropped their teacups, men grabbed their weapons, and passing guards drew their batons.
"Hold on, folks, it’s not what_ " Jimmy stammered, raising his hands, completely forgetting that he was still holding the kitchen knife.
Another woman near Jimmy just so happened to scream in fright, pointing at the knife. Some people were scrambling to get away from him as if he was a mad man, wielding a weapon, killing randomly.
"He’s got a weapon! Get him!" a man bellowed from the crowd.
"Teach that low-born thief a lesson! " Another shouted.
What followed was a masterclass in street justice. The crowd swarmed Jimmy like angry bees. A flying wooden shoe hit him in the forehead.
A copper bat cracked against his ribs.
"Ow! Stop! She’s lying!" Jimmy screamed, ducking into a defensive ball on the ground as a barrage of fists, boots, and flying turnips rained down on him. "Listen to me! She’s doing this because of the baby, it--" His mouth was punched, before he could explain more.
Jimmy’s teeth flew out, mixed with blood.
"He looks like the rat that nabbed my stones last week." a woman shrieked. Her husband landed a righteous kick right on Jimmy’s rear end.
Nobody listened to his cries. In the eyes of the mob, he was just a shady guy caught red-handed with a weapon threatening a defenseless young woman.
A few feet away, hidden behind a wooden pillar, Teddy had her phone out, filming the entire chaos. Her jaw was hanging open so wide it nearly touched the floor. Holy shit, things escalated fast! She swallowed hard, wanting to rush in and help Lita, but held herself back.
Lita didn’t need help anyway_ the local city guards were already surrounding her with velvet blankets, soothing her and taking her away to safety like a fragile piece of glass.
Jimmy, meanwhile, was left lying in the dust, beaten into a bloody, moaning pulp.
