Chapter 235: Seven hours of slaughter.

The water rippled, dark and restless as a beast rose from slumber, its scales glistening, jaws snapping with hunger. It looked an inflated ball, without any shape, with eyes all over. Its sight had those watching at home and the Soul maidens taken back, as they had never seen anything like it.

Trinity stopped her show for a moment. Every eye on the ball like beast was a resonance core!

Sabrina moved before Trinity did, she spread her right hand out and unleashed her soul energy. Her eyes were cold, her aura blazing with power. Her energy tore through the creature’s body, forcing it to still, just before her dark, massive 65-inch Somnivore powered blade cut it in half.

She turned slowly, lips curling into a grin, the drone camera hovering above captured her triumph as she pretended to be oblivious to its gaze. Sabrina didn’t care about looking clean. Her hair was tied up in a messy, practical knot, her armor was scratched, and her face was painted with dark beast blood. She moved on immediately, roaring in competition with the very beasts they were fighting.

Beside Sabrina, her two terrifying half-life beasts tore through the sea beast horde. A silver, purple-eyed wolf darted through the water like a phantom, ripping the throats out of lesser sea beasts before they could reach the junior maidens. A large Stone Salamander, looking like a mountain carved into a lizard, stood like a fortress wall, taking the heavy hits from giant tentacles and spitting molten lava back into the sea beasts’ faces.

"Senior Sabrina! Help us!" a panicked voice screamed from an alleyway.

Three low-level Divine Maidens were trapped against a crumbling wall. Above them, a big, six-headed serpent head was snapping down, its yellow fangs as big as trees.

Sabrina didn’t hesitate. She didn’t use teleportation, it took too much spiritual energy, and she needed every drop for later. Instead, she kicked off the back of the stone salamander, launched herself through the air, and threw her own body between the maidens and the fangs.

The serpent’s jaw clamped down. Sabrina caught the upper fang with her left hand and the lower jaw with her right, her boots sinking deep into the cracked concrete underneath the water. Blood sprayed from her arms as her muscles screamed under the immense pressure.

"Senior Sister!" the young maidens shrieked, terrified.

"Shut up and fall back!" Sabrina gritted out through red teeth, her eyes turning a terrifying shade of dark red. "You think an overgrown worm can eat ME?!"

With an earth-shattering yell, Sabrina flexed her back, her soul energy bursting like a nuclear shockwave, stunning the beast, exploding five of its heads. The, she tore the serpent’s remaining head in half with her bare hands, splashing thick black blood all over herself and the young maidens.

The three young maidens stood there, utterly shell-shocked, tears streaming down their dirt-smudged faces.

Sabrina panted, dropping the bloodied serpent head into the mud. She reached down, picked up a glowing crystal that popped out of the monster’s skull. "A high grade Resonance stone," she muttered, shoving it into her belt. She then turned to the girls, her palm glowing with a gentle, cool light.

She pressed her hand against the chest of the wounded young maiden, instantly transferring her own healing energy into the girl’s broken ribs.

"W-Why did you save us?" the girl sobbed, holding her healed chest. "You put yourself in danger_"

"Because you’re useless if you die here," Sabrina said roughly, though her light gently smoothed away the girl’s pain. "And because you will be me tomorrow. I am your senior, so I am your leader. A real leader doesn’t let her people get eaten while she poses for drones." She leapt into the air, jumping on the back of another beast.

The young maidens looked at Sabrina with wide, glowing eyes filled with pure adoration. "Senior Sabrina is amazing_" one whispered.

Far atop a half-destroyed clock tower, Adelphina watched this happen. She squeezed her small, trembling hands around a sniper rifle. Her eyes weren’t on Sabrina. Her crosshairs were locked firmly onto the back of Trinity’s head.

Trinity was currently standing on the nose of her Frost-Wing Swan, waving elegantly to a drone while her Black Thunder Rhino finished off a giant frog-fish beast.

"You hypocrite_" Adelphina wept quietly, her teeth clicking together in pure rage. "You left my friends behind at the island_ you let them drown so you could save your stupid treasure chests, I’ll make you pay!"

Adelphina pulled the trigger.

A silent, high-density wind-bullet shot through the air, whistling straight toward Trinity’s skull.

It was a perfect shot. But right as the bullet was an inch away, a huge, glowing golden shield slammed down from the sky.

The bullet shattered against the shield.

"Divine Maiden, watch out!" a loud, booming voice roared.

Julia landed heavily beside Trinity. Behind Julia, a big buffalo with metallic horns bellowed into the heavens, its hooves creating a protective golden aura around them both.

"Someone tried to snipe you from the west side!" Julia yelled, her eyes scanning the area.

Trinity’s beautiful, smiling face instantly warped into a terrifying mask of malice. "Find them," she hissed under her breath, low enough so the drone micro-phones wouldn’t catch it. "Skin them alive."

Adelphina gasped, dropping her rifle. "Dammit!" she cried, scrambling backward into the shadows just as a blast of Trinity’s frost-wind blew the top of the building where she was to dust. She fell into the water and climbed inside the mouth of her Harbor maw serpent to hide. Next time_ next time I won’t miss! She promised herself.

The battle in the capital raged for seven grueling hours.

The sea beasts were huge, terrifying, and relentless. Dozens of low-level Soul Maidens were knocked into the churning waters, crushed by heavy tails, or bitten by razor-sharp teeth. The air was filled with screams, the smell of ozone, blood, and burning blubber.

"They’re too fast!" a maiden yelled as a three-headed toadfish leaped toward her.

"Use the wind formations! Teleport!" another shouted.

Instantly, a group of five maidens flashed out of sight, reappearing fifty feet in the air above the creature. Joining their energy together, they created a big, spinning tornado of air-blades that sliced the toadfish into neat, bloody ribbons before it even hit the ground.

"Ladies! Front line, now!" Sabrina’s voice bellowed across the flooded plaza.

Maidens flashed across the battlefield like fireflies. They tapped wounded soldiers, instantly sealing deep gash wounds, mending shattered bones with soft elemental light, and pulling fallen comrades back into safety.

Because of their mobility, their instant healing, and their ruthless cooperation, the tide of battle finally turned.

One by one, the massive King-tier beasts collapsed into the rising mountains of their own flesh.

Sabrina delivered the final strike to the last 6-headed serpent. Riding the back of her Stone Salamander, she leaped fifty feet into the air, her dark sword glowing with condensed lightning, and plunged the blade straight through the serpent’s primary brain.
