Beast Bonding System: Cutting Ties In A Post Apocalyptic World.
Chapter 234: Beasts Vs Trinity Vs Sabrina.
The news broadcast beamed across the entire world, flickering onto screens tucked deep inside survival sanctuaries, bunkers, war-fortresses, and even at the Beast Valley.
Down in the third-class bunker in Aurora Dominion, a family of four huddled around a small screen powered by a crackling battery powered by a flickering energy stone.
"Look! Look!" the little boy pointed his dirty finger at the screen. "It’s the Soul Maidens! They are making formations."
His father snorted, hugging his knees. "I just hope they kill those damn things before they kill us all."
Meanwhile, far across the Wild lands in Beast Valley, Hunter sat on a rusted engine block, eating a cold can of beans with a dagger. He stared up at the screen. On screen, a giant sea beast_ a combination of a bloated toad and a razor-toothed angler fish_ was leaping out of the flooded streets, knocking over a thirty-story skyscraper with a single slap of its slimy flippers.
"Look at your mother, Hunter!" Nanny Rosita made the sign of the cross. "She’s throwing herself in front of danger! I may not like that woman but I sincerely pray for her safety right now." She sighed. "If those things are not slaughtered, humans will not dare to tread on earth for a long while. Bunkers are good hiding places for a while, but if people are crammed together for a month, they will tear each other apart."
Hunter watched as the camera zoomed in on Sabrina. On screen, a young, weak Soul Maiden was about to be crushed by a sea beast’s giant webbed foot. Out of nowhere, Sabrina flashed through the sky like a bolt of violet lightning, tackling the girl out of the way just in time. Sabrina’s shoulder slammed into the concrete, skin tearing, blood blooming through her jumpsuit as she shielded the girl with her own back.
"So, the great Sabrina Kaelion is your mother." Zyra commented. "She seems nice..." There was doubt in her voice.
Zyra’s doubt came from the dramatic way Sabrina had saved the younger Soul maiden. In her opinion, the woman had deliberately positioned her body to be harmed. But why anyone would do that was a puzzle.
Hunter scoffed loud enough for the whole living room to hear, shoving another serving of cold beans into his mouth.
"Pretentious woman," Hunter muttered, though his hand tightened slightly around his dagger. "Always playing the martyr. If you’re going to fight, just kill the damn thing. Why do you have to get hit on purpose just to look like a saint?"
Zyra’s eyes lit up. So, I was right, she thought.
In the seat behind Hunter, Aunt Denea sat staring at the screen. Her eyes wide and bloodshot. The moment Sabrina’s face flooded the screen again, aunt Denea let out a shriek so sharp it cracked a nearby glass tumbler.
"No! No! Keep her away! Keep her away from me!" Denea screamed, rocking back and forth, tearing at her hair. "The devil! The devil has come back for my baby! Turn it off! TURN IT OFF!"
Malia and Bianca rushed in, holding her down as she thrashed like a fish on dry land, her mind completely shattered by memories of a dark past that only she remembered.
"Calm down aunt, she cannot hurt you anymore." Bianca said.
Zyra was torn between helping with aunt Denea and watching the footage. They couldn’t turn it off. Out across the global battlefields, the sea beasts were throwing human military might into pure comedy.
In the high skies above the Zenith sea coast, a squadron of high-tech assault helicopters soared over the black, roaring ocean waves. Inside the lead chopper, a commander yelled into his headset: "Keep your distance! Track the King-tier beasts! We just need to take them out before_"
A hundred-foot-wide scaly tail shot out of the ocean water like a whip forged by a mountain god. The tail sliced through three helicopters in a single sweep, turning millions of dollars of cutting-edge human technology into bursting fireballs.
In another zone near the sunken coast of the New Jersey republic, two heavy military choppers were trying to drop nets over a gigantic, six foot toad beast. The beast didn’t even bother looking up. It simply used its tongue barbed tongue to swat the air like a man swatting a mosquito, and bang! The two choppers folded into metal pancakes against each other before crashing into the boiling, flooded water below.
Human weapons were toothless toys here. The real war belonged to the Soul Maidens. The main event was in the Capital. The floodwaters were still knee-deep, thick with mud, floating debris, and the foul stench of rotten seaweed.
Hovering high in the air, floating camera-drones swarmed like metallic flies, catching every drop of blood, every strike of lightning, and every posture for the news networks.
Trinity was in her element. Her snow-white fur didn’t have a single speck of dirt on it, thanks to a tiny, invisible wind formation she kept running around her hemline just for the cameras.
"People of the New Earth!" Trinity cried out, raising her glowing golden sword high above her head. She looked directly into a hovering drone, flashing a breathtaking, tragic smile. "Do not fear! As long as I, Trinity Johnson, draw breath, no monster shall destroy homes!"
"Oh, please, someone gag her," Sabrina spat, slicing through a big hairy crab with a flash of black sword-light.
Trinity didn’t care about Sabrina’s mutterings. She was here to put on a show. "Come forth! Frost-Wing Swan! Black Thunder Rhino!" Trinity chanted, pressing her fingers to her forehead.
The air temperature plummeted. A gigantic, beautiful swan made of pure blue ice materialized in the sky, its wings spanning far and wide. Below Trinity on the flooded asphalt, the ground trembled as a huge, armored rhino covered in dark, crackling electricity slammed its heavy hooves into the water.
Trinity leaped gracefully onto the back of the Frost-Wing Swan, her hair fluttering like a holy goddess. "Purify them!"
The icy swan flapped its wings, raining down tens of thousands of frozen ice-spears onto a huge, six-headed sea serpent that was rising out of the sunken land. Each of the serpent’s six heads roared, spitting venom in the water, but Trinity’s Black Thunder Rhino charged straight through the waves, slamming its horn right into the main serpent’s chest.
Black lightning exploded across the water. Trinity landed lightly on the roof of a half-submerged bus, striking a heroic pose, making sure her good side was facing the primary camera drone.
"She’s literally posing," Sabrina grunted, dodging a blast of green venom. "People are dying and she’s checking her angle!"
While Trinity was fighting for the ratings, Sabrina was fighting like a bloodthirsty demon to prove she was worthy to lead the next generation of Soul maidens.
