Back to the 80s: Raising my Wolfy Boyfriend
Chapter 889: The Boy’s Tear-Stained Face
They were dressed in crisp black suits, dangerous weapons clutched in their hands, still firing nonstop.
Every one of them had a loop of black cloth wrapped around their arm.
This was the black armband that only appeared when someone in the family had passed away.
The overwhelming scene downstairs, vast and earthshaking, intimidated all the residents looking down from above.
Some rubbed their eyes in disbelief, thinking what they were seeing was just a dream.
"Bang bang bang—"
"Bang bang bang bang bang—"
Yet the rapid gunfire kept ringing out.
Right at the foot of the Imperial City, there was actually such a group of men who didn’t care about their lives, acting like this; they must be sick of living.
Very quickly, they understood that whether the people downstairs cared about their lives or not didn’t matter; what mattered was that their own lives were now being threatened.
Who knew what the hell these people were up to.
Each of them held weapons with terrifying firepower; if they rushed upstairs, their little lives would be forfeit.
The residents of Left Bank Pavilion were all people of status, the wealthy and the noble.
They all began contacting the outside, trying to minimize the danger to their lives.
The commotion Allen and the others caused downstairs reached the ears of An Mingji, Gu Jin, the butler, and the rest upstairs.
Hearing the deafening chaos from below, none of them stepped forward to stop it.
The Darl Family had always been in the arms trade; now that the Family Head had passed, they had to send him off with such a ceremony.
Upstairs.
Time crawled by. Seeing that the Young Master and Gu Jin were still by Madam’s side, the butler walked forward and spoke softly, "Young Master, Miss Gu, Madam has already gone. We need to change Madam’s clothes."
Gu Jin was holding An Feng’s icy hand. She lifted her reddened eyes and said to the butler, "Let me do it. Where are the clothes?"
"Miss Gu, the maids will take care of it. You should stay with the Young Master a bit more."
The butler glanced at the Young Master, half-kneeling before Madam, gripping her hand tight. A trace of pain flashed in his eyes.
The boy bent over, sobbing in grief, his tall back trembling slightly, like a young wolf that had lost its parents.
This boy, who had always been decisive and ruthless in killing, who shared the same bloodline and the same merciless methods as Madam, was now fragile to this extent—something they had never seen before.
Following the butler’s gaze, Gu Jin saw An Mingji, covered in sorrow like a helpless cub.
One of his hands was clamped tightly around An Feng’s, while the other dug with all its strength into the sofa, leaving five deep, clear gouges.
The boy’s head was lowered, hiding any expression of grief on his face from view.
But Gu Jin knew he must be clenching his teeth hard, forcing his sorrow back inside.
The boy was proud, and just as enduring; he refused to show his weakness before others.
Gu Jin released An Feng’s hand and gently laid it back on the sofa, then stood and walked to stand before An Mingji.
She reached out and touched the hair of the boy kneeling before An Feng, her movements gentle as she softly stroked it. "Little An, get up first. Grandma An needs to go in and change clothes."
An Mingji’s body trembled slightly, his grip on An Feng’s hand tightening even more. He did not stand up, but the choked sobs coming from him were even clearer now.
His grief-stricken appearance made Gu Jin’s heart ache for him; she wished she could bear it in his place.
Gu Jin half-squatted in front of An Mingji, wrapping both hands around his, gently lifting his face.
When she saw the tear-streaks all over the boy’s face, and the hurt, the grief, the desolate look of someone abandoned in his eyes, Gu Jin’s own eyes instantly turned red again from the pain in her heart.
