Dai Limin visited the Gong Family’s place next door again and unsurprisingly saw the Gong Brothers there.

"Did Ni Zi and the others go out again today?" Dai Limin asked cautiously.

Dai Limin had already asked his second brother which hospitals they had looked into. Judging by Gong Ruini and her family’s schedule of leaving early and coming home late, they must have visited almost all the hospitals recommended by his second brother.

As to whether there was any good news, the atmosphere around here over the past few days suggested otherwise; the pressure was indeed increasingly heavy.

Dai Limin initially thought it must be the doctor’s lack of skill, but it made no sense that his second brother had gathered so much useful information and yet none of it seemed to work.

Gong Ruzhi grunted, "Yes."

"Make yourself comfortable," said Gong Ruzhi. There hadn’t been any good news recently, and he really didn’t have the energy to chat much with Dai Limin.

If he could, Gong Ruzhi genuinely wanted to kick this young man out for not picking up on social cues.

"Make yourself comfortable? This treatment?" Although they were quite familiar with each other, every time he came here, Gong Ruzhi would politely ask what he wanted to drink. Of course, in the end, it was according to what could be prepared the fastest that he would give to Dai Limin.

Dai Limin had complained to himself countless times; it was as if the question was asked sincerely, but in the end, it was always arranged according to his own thoughts.

But now, even this level of treatment was gone, and he had to help himself directly.

This left Dai Limin feeling a mix of amusement and exasperation. In a positive light, it meant their relationship was good, but negatively, it was just that Gong Ruzhi was too lazy.

Dai Limin merely complained to himself; otherwise, if Gong Ruzhi got serious, he would certainly overpower him.

Dai Limin really wasn’t a quiet person, and after being alone for a while, he couldn’t help himself, "Hey..."

"Don’t think you can get any news from me." Gong Ruzhi directly cut off what Dai Liren was about to ask.

Oh, this guy was so annoying, thought Dai Limin angrily. They had such a good relationship; was this necessary?

"I’m not in the mood," Gong Ruzhi said weakly.

Although he knew Dai Limin wanted to know something and meant well, Gong Ruzhi just didn’t have the energy to discuss this with him.

"I just think some things are better said by the person themselves." Perhaps realizing he was being too harsh, Gong Ruzhi added another sentence.

At that moment, Dai Limin heard the door opening, and his body stiffened. Were Gong Ruini and the others back?

Gong Ruzhi became even more nervous. He glanced at the time; they shouldn’t be back at this hour. Why were they back so early today?

Gong Ruzhi was really worried that today might bring more bad news.

They had already heard so much bad news. Gong Ruzhi even wanted to persuade Gong Ruini not to go to the hospital anymore.

These were all recommended good doctors, various famous hospitals, and even they had little hope, which proved the situation was dire.

In that case, it might be better to wait until the baby was born to make any plans; there was no need to keep going to the hospital and facing disappointment.

Even though he had confidence in his sister, Gong Ruzhi still felt reluctant on many levels.

Just as Gong Ruzhi was about to make an expression and persuade Gong Ruini, he saw his sister and the others walk in grinning.

What was going on? They actually walked in smiling. Was he seeing things? Gong Ruzhi kept rubbing his eyes.

Ever since his sister learned about the baby’s condition, he couldn’t remember the last time she smiled.

Wait, "Sis, is there good news?" Gong Ruzhi exclaimed, excitedly running over to Gong Ruini.

Then he steadied himself, "Sis, did I guess right?" He cautiously hugged Gong Ruini, resting his head on her shoulder.

"Yes, there’s good news today. They said it’s not conjoined twins." Gong Ruini was genuinely happy.

At least after days of running around, they finally received some good news.

"Really?" Gong Ruzhi shouted excitedly, "And what about the other baby?"

Since one assessment had been ruled out as incorrect, it was possible the other one was wrong too.

"The doctor said the baby is a bit weak, and there’s a high chance it might not live long after birth or have serious health issues."

Gong Ruini tried her best to recount what the doctor had said today. Even though she kept telling herself she mustn’t cry, she couldn’t help it. This was, after all, good news, albeit with risks.

"Are you going to have the baby, sis?" Gong Ruzhi really wanted to complain that this doctor didn’t seem reliable either.

What with the "may die soon after birth" and "may have poor health if it survives," wasn’t it much the same as what the previous doctor said?

"Yes."

"I must have it." Gong Ruini didn’t know what Zhao Xuran and the others thought, but she didn’t want to give up.

"That child is trying to live, and I can’t give up."

"Especially since her brother also wants her to live."

Previously, the doctor joked that these two children were so close, always holding hands tightly, and some parts seemed connected actually. It was perhaps the brother worrying his sibling would give up, so he held on tight or hugged her, hoping she would persevere.

Ah, Gong Ruzhi was stunned. Previously, Zhao Xuran ridiculed a certain doctor for being unreliable, but it might just be true.

"And what does brother-in-law think?"

"Have it."

"There’s no reason not to."

Dai Limin watched as Zhao Xuran and the others made the decision. He was stupefied. Usually, if a doctor said the fetus was in poor condition, many parents would choose to give up.

Yet Gong Ruini and her family were determined to have the baby, even for the slimmest hope.

Dai Liren truly admired Gong Ruini and her determination, giving a thumbs-up to show respect.

Gong Ruini was indeed gambling. She hadn’t entered the space for a while and had almost forgotten she had such a useless spatial space.

But the space water might be useful; although unverified, maybe they could try again this time.

If it worked, great.

If it didn’t, it would save some water for the house.

This thought put Gong Ruini’s heart at ease, at least providing some psychological comfort.

Thinking of this, Gong Ruini yawned, "I’m going to rest for a while."

She wasn’t pretending; after so many days of busyness, her body had almost reached its limit. If it weren’t for sheer willpower, she would have collapsed by now.

Today brought news that, however uncertainly, was somewhat good. Gong Ruini was genuinely exhausted.

Zhao Xuran heard his wife say she was tired and wanted to sleep. He had no time to educate his younger brother and immediately escorted Gong Ruini upstairs.

Before sleeping, he would run a bath for his wife; otherwise, she wouldn’t sleep well, especially since she had just returned from a hospital full of bacteria—she must have a good wash.

Zhao Guangran watched his big brother support Gong Ruini so attentively, in a manner he could only describe as reminiscent of an insider in the palace.

No, ever since Ni Zi had her big brother backing her, hadn’t she become the Old Buddha, and his big brother the Chief Steward?

Thinking of this, Zhao Guangran laughed heartily.

Gong Ruzhi quickly moved away from this guy, not wanting to be infected by someone not in their right mind.
