Chapter 423: Chapter 386 – You Want the People Resurrected Too, Right~?
“Ahem~ I’ll leave the rest here to you.”
Having once again taken the backdoor route, offered her “gift,” and gained some progress from it, Kagali mumbled something incoherent before shakily getting to her feet and leaving.
The way she staggered away left Suphia and Albis staring after her in bewilderment.
“Stop looking at her. It’s your turn to show some sincerity.”
Takumi clapped his hands, drawing their attention back.
Then he pointed at the screen.
“As long as you show enough sincerity each time, I’ll resurrect another group of your people.”
As he spoke, he demonstrated his power.
“[Pseudo-Hell: Samsara Resurrection]!”
In an instant, one hundred thousand citizens of the Beast Kingdom came back to life on the screen and were transported directly into the residential districts of the Yuanlin Empire.
The moment Suphia and Albis saw this, they could no longer remain calm.
Their faces flushed red as they exchanged a glance, each seeing the same determination in the other’s eyes.
“Um… how exactly are we supposed to show our sincerity?”
Breathing more heavily as the atmosphere around them changed, the two asked the question at last.
Takumi crooked a finger at them, and the pair immediately lowered their heads and came obediently to his side like puppies.
“That kind of thing depends on your actions. I’ll teach you.”
As their mentor, Takumi personally taught them how to improve, get promoted, and become good subordinates and secretaries.
Naturally, advanced techniques like going through the back door and offering gifts were things he intended to teach them ahead of time as well.
Watching batch after batch of their people and companions return to life on the screen, Suphia and Albis became increasingly enthusiastic.
Their Beastman instincts only grew more intense as time passed.
“I’ve already finished resurrecting everyone.”
After an unknown amount of time, Takumi finally spoke up to remind them.
Unfortunately, with nothing but “progress” on their minds, the two gave him no opportunity to say anything more.
Half a day passed in the blink of an eye, and Takumi finally finished dealing with everything concerning the Beast Kingdom.
“What exhausting work~~”
Stretching lazily, Takumi left Kagali to clean up the aftermath.
Having recovered somewhat, Kagali shot him a resentful look, but still entered the room and diligently began tidying everything up.
After loosening his shoulders, Takumi kept an eye on Setsuna and the others’ progress while making his way toward the Dryad territory.
Because of their nature, the Dryads were fundamentally unable to leave that region.
Takumi had come specifically to help them by creating physical bodies that would allow them to move freely.
Before him stretched a lush, verdant forest, its overwhelming vitality almost visible to the naked eye.
“As expected of a Dryad settlement.”
“Takumi-sama, welcome~~”
Treyni’s beautiful emerald figure appeared before him.
Beside her were two other Dryads, both equally beautiful, dressed in green dresses with fresh vines curling around their bodies.
They were lovely in both figure and appearance, though compared to Treyni, they still seemed somewhat younger and more delicate.
Treyni promptly introduced them.
“This is Trya, and this is Doris. They’re both my younger sisters.”
After the introduction, the two remarkably similar Dryad girls, both carrying a refined and graceful air, spoke at the same time.
“Takumi-sama, it’s a pleasure to meet you. Please take care of us~” ×2
“Mm, mm. Your sisters are very nice. In that case, I’ll materialize bodies for both of them while I’m at it, so you won’t be restricted to moving only within the forest anymore.”
Takumi grinned from ear to ear, utterly unable to resist the sweet demeanor of the two Dryad girls.
And having all three sisters standing together in front of him was certainly quite the sight.
Hearing that they too would be able to move around freely, Trya and Doris looked at Takumi with even greater admiration and respect.
“Takumi-sama, thank you in advance for helping us.”
As Dryads, their limited range of movement had always been a source of frustration.
Anyone who stayed in the same place long enough would eventually want to go out and see the world.
The two sisters had already heard plenty about Takumi from their elder sister Treyni, and now, seeing him in person, they were stunned and captivated by his handsome appearance.
Under the three women’s eager gazes, Takumi explained,
“Because of the special nature of your spiritual bodies, an ordinary physical vessel can’t contain you.”
“I’ll need to use something that shares your origin—your original bodies, the source from which you were born—to create vessels capable of housing your spirits.”
The moment Takumi finished speaking, Treyni manipulated several vines and dug a cluster of potatoes out of the ground.
“Takumi-sama, I was born from potatoes. Please use these to make my body.”
“…”
Looking at Treyni’s shining eyes, Takumi was momentarily dumbfounded by how adorably serious she looked.
“Potatoes? You’re telling me you’re a potato spirit?!”
“Uh… I suppose so.”
Although she felt there was something odd about the way Takumi phrased it, Treyni still nodded.
Apparently unable to understand why he didn’t believe her, she repeated herself.
“We Dryads are all born from potatoes…”
“Then why do you like eating potato chips so much?”
Takumi could barely keep a straight face.
Back in the empire, he had constantly seen Treyni eating chips.
She almost seemed to treat them as a staple food. After chips came curry, stewed potatoes, stir-fried shredded potatoes… In any case, she loved eating them.
What kind of cannibalism is this?!
Treyni, however, had no such concept and simply answered as though it were the most ordinary thing in the world.
“I just like eating them. Potatoes are delicious.”
“…”
Takumi rubbed his temples and pressed further.
“Who told you that you were born from potatoes?”
“The Fairy Queen-sama did. Unfortunately, she’s already reincarnated, and we still haven’t found where she is.”
That single sentence pulled all of Takumi’s thoughts back into place.
“That explains it.”
Takumi nodded, immediately understanding that Ramiris had been messing with Treyni.
She really knows how to have fun. She even lies to and teases her own followers.
That mischievous streak is almost catching up to mine.
Takumi didn’t bother explaining the truth to Treyni. There wasn’t much point.
Instead, he looked toward the nearby Great Spirit Tree.
That was the true original body from which the Dryads had been born.
Looking at the somewhat foolish Treyni, Takumi sighed.
“Whew~ Using potatoes to make a body would be way too cheap. I’ll use the [Great Spirit Tree].”
“Oh, I see. All right.”
Despite her mature appearance, Treyni obediently stepped aside and watched Takumi work.
Takumi raised a hand and removed a portion of the [Great Spirit Tree], then reshaped it into Treyni’s form.
Once he was finished, he motioned for Treyni to merge with it.
The moment her spiritual body entered the vessel, the previously wooden form immediately came alive.
Fair skin, graceful curves—every inch of the new body perfectly matched Treyni’s spiritual form.
Unfortunately, Treyni simultaneously used magic to create clothing, covering her elegant figure before Takumi could see the whole thing.
He wasn’t discouraged.
There would always be time later.
As Treyni felt the warmth and vitality of a true physical body, the gratitude in her heart became impossible to describe.
Takumi’s actions had also caused her to evolve into a [Spirit Dryad Doll Fairy].
Once she fully adapted to her new body, her strength would continue to grow.
