Chapter 12: Chapter 12: Angles Justice

In this world, power is absolute. Whether Calamity or Good Deeder, power is what everyone chases. With enough power, even a Calamity would be bowed to by all.

Devil limped out of his room, each step dragging stone dust behind him. The poison was still in his veins, but he forced it down.

And waiting for him in the courtyard was the last person he ever wanted to see.

The Holy Angel.

He stood there smiling, halo dim behind him. His eyes were hollow. Lifeless.

"You... monster..." Devil hissed through gritted teeth.

Angel tilted his head. "Says a Calamity. I’m here to deliver you all to justice. To set you free from the cruelty of this life."

One by one, the other Calamities in the shelter staggered back. His aura alone was crushing.

_To think the Safety Commission would send him... of all people._

Juda’s fists clenched.

"Now. Be good dogs and don’t feign resistance. Because... this... this is Judgment."

With a sound like tearing silk, the wings behind Angel unfurled. Three times their normal size. Feathers shimmered like blades. The pressure in the air became so heavy that the weakest Calamities dropped to their knees.

Slowly, like a god descending, Angel lifted off the ground.

"Die."

He snapped his wings.

*THUNK. THUNK. THUNK.*

The feathers launched. Not like arrows — like bullets with a mind of their own. They screamed through the air, curving, seeking.

Morgan, held tight by his mother, couldn’t even track them. All he saw were streaks of white light punching through bodies. Screams. Blood on stone.

A handful of feathers curved toward Devil.

A translucent screen flashed in front of his eyes:

`[Activate Third Wave of Calamity?]`

`[Y/N]`

"Yes," Devil breathed.

He turned to Liues. She was holding Morgan’s hand, eyes wide with fear.

Without thinking, Devil pulled her in and kissed her. Hard and Desperate.

"I love you," he whispered against her lips.

"Wai—"

"El!" Devil barked, already stepping back. His skin was graying, hardening. "Get them out of here. Now."

He looked at Morgan one last time.

"Grow up. Be the strongest. Stop these monsters... and show them that Calamities aren’t all evil."

Then his whole body turned to stone.

The incoming feathers struck his stone form and shattered on impact, leaving only white scratches. Angel’s smile faltered.

That was Devil’s opening.

He exploded forward. As he leapt, he slammed both fists into the ground.

The entire shelter shuddered

Stone, dirt, broken pillars — everything ripped free and spiraled toward him. They melted, compressed, and reformed in mid-air.

" Calamity Second Wave: Fifthy Spears"

Said Devil, as the spears turned and face angle

Each one the size of a tree trunk, humming with earth energy.

"Go."

*FIUUUUUU!!!*

The volley launched. The air itself split.

Angel raised one wing as a shield. The first spear hit and detonated in a shockwave that cracked the courtyard. Dust and debris filled the air.

Liues grabbed Morgan’s shoulder. "He... he might win. Right?"

El watched the storm of stone. "I can’t say. But Devil’s mastery of earth is the perfect counter to Angel’s aerial offense. Defense and offense in one."

"Impressive... for a Calamity," Angel said, voice calm despite being pushed back an inch by the barrage.

"That’s not all!"

Devil thrust both arms forward. The remaining spears followed, slamming into Angel’s second wing.

*BANK!!!*

Angel skidded backward across the stone, carving two trenches with his feet.

Devil’s eyes went red. Veins of purple cracked across his stone skin.

"I... WILL NOT... LET YOU DESTROY THE ONES I LOVE!!!"

He poured everything into the final thrust. The spears punched through Angel’s wing-shield, through his chest, and sent him flying.

Angel crashed through the shelter wall, through the outer wall, and into the mountainside beyond. Blood sprayed from his mouth.

Devil didn’t let up. He shot after him, his fist already transforming — massive, jagged, stone.

"Destructive Earthquake!!!"

*CRACK.*

His stone fist connected with Angel’s face. Jaw shattered. The impact sent Angel screaming through the mountain and out the other side, plowing a mile-long trench through the forest.

Silence.

Devil dropped into the crater he’d made. *BAAM.* His feet sank into the earth.

Across from him, Angel was on one knee. Blood, dirt, and feathers covered him. His godlike aura was gone.

Angel raised a trembling wing. Devil didn’t give him the chance.

He blurred forward.

"Calamity First Wave: Earthquake Punch!!!"

*BA-BA-BA-BA-BAM!!!*

Stone fists hammered into Angel’s stomach. Again. Again. Again. Each punch cracked the ground beneath them.

"Yes! He’s actually winning!" Shei shouted from the shelter.

Juda and El didn’t smile.

"I don’t think so," El said quietly. "The second most srongest Good Deeder in the Empire doesn’t go down like this. Not this easily."

"Then what is this?" Liues asked.

"An illusion. A construct. Something," Juda muttered. "But if it is, it shouldn’t be this hard to kill."

"I don’t know what it is," El said. "But Devil is not winning."

The punches didn’t stop.

Until—

A sudden pressure fell over the entire forest. The air turned to lead. Morgan couldn’t even breathe.

A voice, cold and amused, came from above.

"Did you actually think that was me? You filth."

Everyonelooked up.

Floating in the sky was another Angel.

Two wings beat slowly, elegantly. The other two wings were folded in front of his face, hiding it.

"How?" Morgan choked out. "That’s... that’s not possible."

"El!!" Devil roared, not even turning. "Take them and RUN!!!"

Too late.

The two wings covering the Angel’s face slowly parted.

And beneath them was a crooked, inhuman smile.
