Armed Train in the Apocalypse
Chapter 909 - 511: Streams Converge Into the Sea (Part 1)_2
It covers details down to every region’s temperature, soil, social relations, dietary structure, and so on.
Others might be clueless if asked, but here comes a train conductor who’s actually traversed ten major regions. Not only is he highly skilled, capable of exploring dangerous areas, but he also has a good memory. Su Huan remembers every detail and character, except for those logically inconsistent dream scenes.
Even if he wasn’t attentive at the time, anything he’s seen is stored in his mind like photos and videos. He just needs to review it briefly.
A group of experts listens to Su Huan’s revelations as if they’ve found a treasure, forgetting to eat and sleep.
But a bunch of elderly folks can’t keep up with Su Huan. Every few days, elderly men and women faint and get carried out by medical staff. When Marcus and the Elder Marshal take a look, they realize it’s untenable and order the medical staff to forcibly remove experts on the brink of exhaustion.
This process lasts for five days in total, and Su Huan exhausts all information before beginning to absorb research findings on evolution from the side of Eternal Night.
This time it goes much faster, accomplished in just two days.
Then, under the guidance of Nutmeg, they tour the structure of United Command. Although this is only an "outpost" of the Command, under Donghuang’s five or six years of preparation, it rivals an underground city with lavish space.
The total area exceeds twenty square kilometers, with three layers above and below. In normal conditions, it can accommodate sixty thousand people to live and produce for over ten years; in extreme conditions, it can hold over five hundred thousand.
Such a top-tier shelter, its cost astronomical, would never be abandoned by United Command if not for the bizarre plaything like Pale Demon.
At the lowest level, at the edge of the Testing Canyon.
Nutmeg points to the mutated ants below and introduces, "This is where we train Evolvers on combat, and simultaneously acquire evolution resources."
Su Huan looks at the ants crawling below, and with interest, asks, "Are those two knives also manufactured by yourselves?"
Nutmeg shakes her head, "[Roar] is a captured weapon. We currently can’t produce that level of ’arms.’ I heard you have a team specializing in making arms out there?"
"All up to luck. A small amount of material has been taken to rub mechas together."
Speaking of this, Su Huan can’t help but think of that spendthrift woman, wondering if she behaves while he’s away.
No need to think, the outcome is clear; she’s also a bold character.
Su Huan pries off a small stone from the rock face as hard as fine steel, tosses it at the largest black ant’s head below, and the stone instantly disappears. A faint line of fire appears in the air, and almost simultaneously, the black ant explodes like being hit by a shell, turning into an acid rain.
Only when the dull rumble belatedly echoes through the canyon.
Beside him, Nutmeg’s eyelids twitch. She solemnly asks, "How much strength did you use?"
"Just casually tossed a stone."
"May I ask a presumptuous question?"
"Married, not interested."
Nutmeg’s ample chest rises and falls momentarily. She grits her teeth, "I wanted to ask about the strength of Tier Four, without counting Rule."
Su Huan glanced back at this woman, her age similar to Yu Jing’s, and reaching Tier Three with the military’s scant assistance, she’s already considered outstanding.
But the question still puts Su Huan in a tough spot.
What’s the difference between crushing an ant and crushing an ant leader?
Seeing Su Huan’s gaze flick towards the dead black ant below, Nutmeg grows angrier, stating word by word, "That’s a Tier Two evolved ant."
Su Huan honestly replies, "In Tier Four’s eyes, there’s really no difference. Even without Rule, the power derived from Tier Four can crush any non-peer opponent."
"Would you dare to test it?"
"Uh-oh, revealing your true intent?"
Su Huan had long known Nutmeg’s thoughts. For someone straightforward, holding back till today is respectable.
"Ah, I know the battle doesn’t benefit you; I can’t promise anything. You can refuse if you don’t want to."
Nutmeg grips her knife. Though she speaks this way, her eyes are full of anticipation.
"All right, settle your mind before leaving." Su Huan smiles lightly.
"Leaving?" Nutmeg is startled, "Where are you going? Didn’t you say..."
She stops mid-sentence, realizing it’s not a confidential space.
"Staying here is dull; I’ll see if I can bump into that guy."
Su Huan squints; he’s been thinking about the escaped Marcus.
Word spreads of Nutmeg challenging Commander Su, attracting Evolvers from Nutmeg Brigade and Grain Brigade, off duty, to the battlefield. It quickly catches the attention of higher-ups. The swiftest are not soldiers, but a group of scholars, with elderly folks running in front and students carrying equipment chasing behind.
Xiaomi suddenly spots a familiar figure in the crowd.
She approaches, "Boss, do you think Nutmeg Sis can win?"
"Win?" Grain’s expression is complex, he didn’t witness the battle firsthand, but has reviewed the information extensively. Just understanding those resonant slaps took him several days.
Nutmeg’s victory wasn’t even a thought in his mind, at most lasting a few seconds if Su Huan held back.
"I’ll head over first."
Without answering Xiaomi’s question, Grain rushes to the field.
A few bursts accelerate, leaving the crowd behind.
But as they arrive, there’s no earth-shattering battle, only Su Huan smiling in the center, while Nutmeg sits dazed on the ground.
"Make way for me!"
Xiaomi squeezes out of the crowd, observing the situation in the field.
Since no special viewing seats are set at the battle zone, given her height and late arrival, she naturally sees nothing.
She then anxiously asks those nearby, "How did Nutmeg Boss lose?"
Nearby are Wang Hongsheng and Yan Han, supposedly escorting Su Huan, but barely keeping up, and returned to United Command only three days ago.
Wang Hongsheng shakes his head, "No idea. Somehow lost."
"That’s impressive."
Xiaomi expresses admiration, eyes full of awe.
The two exchange bitter smiles; it’s not merely impressive...
Hearing murmurs around, Nutmeg regains composure, awkwardly asks, "Was that your Domain ability earlier?"
"Ability?"
Su Huan looks mysterious, "It’s simply a biological field I set up."
Su Huan’s voice isn’t intentionally enhanced but heard clearly by everyone present.
The vast field instantly becomes silent.
Nutmeg’s pupils shrink to needle points, even Grain’s expression outside struggles.
A dignified Tier Three, the Eternal Night Military’s strongest, couldn’t even resist the presence of another.
"But, I could stand before the Pale Demon, so aren’t they Tier Four?"
Nutmeg asks hesitantly.
Su Huan realizes Nutmeg has mistaken the reference framework.
"Those two knives likely have a mental or wills enhancement. Secondly, the Pale Demon was trying to capture you alive for memory alteration, hence you lasted so long, and..." Su Huan spreads his hands, with a warm smile, "Who says there’s no gap among Tier Fours?"
Thinking of the mighty Pale Demon begging Su Huan, Nutmeg falls silent.
"If I wielded Roar, would the outcome differ?"
"No difference."
Nutmeg seems to accept the result, nodding involuntarily, suddenly asks, "Can I go out with you then?"
Su Huan questions, "For what?"
"I want to see how real strong fighters battle."
Nutmeg responds earnestly.
"Heh, as long as you don’t find it dull."
[Note: The worldview’s two-level arc is approximately forty thousand kilometers, double normal, while the planetary surface area is about 2.04 billion km². Donghuang occupies significant habitable territory, spanning twenty-five thousand kilometers north to south, with a population over ten billion, akin to engulfing some small Western countries. The White Eagle Federation’s population is slightly over one billion.]
