Chapter 868: A Child’s trouble

Bai Meiyue looked down at the black alloy shafts inside the bazooka-like gun in her hands and pursed her lips. No one would believe that this thing actually cost her a bloody two million crystal nuclei! Apart from the fact that the metal shaft had a bunch of glowing veins that pulsed like a heartbeat and crimson vents lined on both sides of the blades, the gun looked like any ordinary bazooka.

"These human-faced spiders are stronger than the last time!" someone shouted behind her. "They have regenerative properties!"

When Bai Meiyue heard this, she was not surprised; she had already sensed that these human-faced spiders were stronger than the last batch. One had to admit that Captain Xu was really vicious. He actually came up with such a terrifying plan to deal with their safe base, he must have expected that after what happened yesterday, their safe base must have suffered quite a lot of damage but instead of letting them calm down and recover their losses, he brought stronger and a bigger batch of the human faced spiders, to make sure that they would not be able to get back on their feet.

A man like him was certainly terrifying.

Bai Meiyue glanced at the corpse of the man and snorted. It was a good thing that she did not believe a thing that came out of the mouth of that man, or else she would have been ruined by him in the future. Leaving a man like him alive would only be trouble for her in the future. It was better to nip the bud before it bloomed lest this man cause trouble for her.

She sucked in a breath and turned to look at the guards behind her. "There is no need to panic; take the children and the elderly inside the resting areas and tell them to stay inside until the situation calms down."

The guards nodded before turning around and taking their leave. They were also in a hurry because they were worried that if things went out of control, then there was a good chance that these things might end up breaking inside the safe base and what would happen then? They might as well take the weak and the elderly inside the mansions lest things escalate.

They hurried down the watchtower.

"We are going to kill the monsters! Let’s go and kill the monsters!" While Bai Meiyue was worried about the children, they were having quite a lot of fun.

"Yes, let’s go and kill those ugly monsters!" Meng Guo raised the wooden sword that his mother had given him into the air and cheered along with the children. "You all follow your leader, and you will definitely get stronger in the future. Look at me. Did I not get stronger?"

The group of children agreed with what Meng Guo said and then hurried after him; they all rushed toward the gates of the safe base, but just as they were about to cross the safety line, Jiang Haidai appeared out of nowhere. With her hands on her hips, she glared at her son and scolded him severely, "Have you lost your mind? What did Mom tell you? You should stay inside the house and not run around. Why won’t you listen to me? Where are you going now?"

"Mom, we are not causing trouble. Let us go; we are going to help Boss Lady and kill these monsters!" Meng Guo was filled with a burst of courage and wanted to fight the monsters that were threatening the safety of the safe base. He also wanted to deal with the monsters, and thus, he was in a hurry to go out and fight with them.

"You all go back for me!" Jiang Haidai was really angry. What kind of situation was it outside? The monsters were so terrifying that even Bai Meiyue was having a hard time dealing with them; how could a bunch of children even take those monsters down? Her son was getting bolder and bolder just because he had awakened his ability. It seemed like she had to give him a good beating; only then would he remember his lesson.

However, just as she reached out to grab her son, the latter turned into a cloud of smoke, and she grabbed onto nothing. A second later, the child was standing behind her and yapping, "I am going to fight the monsters, and you cannot stop me!" As he spoke, he turned on his feet and rushed toward the gate.

"Guoguo!"

Jiang Haidai’s heart lunged to her throat, and she wanted to capture her son, but before she could even catch him, another arm reached out. This wooden arm curled itself around Meng Guo’s torso and pulled him back.

Wang Guofa coldly looked at the child in his arms and said to him, "Do you even know what is going on?" After he finished speaking, he handed the child to Jiang Haidai and warned her in a chilling voice, "The matter outside is not something that can be dealt with by children. Keep a close eye on your child and make sure that he doesn’t run amok. If something happens to him, then don’t blame us for abandoning him. The human-faced spiders outside are level three, and they can kill anyone as long as they get their claws on their prey."

"Even Bai Meiyue has issued a warning and asked everyone to go back inside. Don’t let your child run around and cause trouble for the leader; she is already having enough trouble, as it is, because of the constant troubles that keep popping up."

After he finished speaking, he turned to walk away without looking at the woman in front of him.

Jiang Haidai was scolded until she could not raise her head. She wanted to get angry, but she realised that what Wang Guofa said was not wrong. It was her fault; she should have paid more attention to her son. Thinking about how her son had caused trouble for her, she looked down at her arms but—
