Apocalypse: My SSS Ability Changes Every Few Days
Chapter 82: Forced to Leave
[Ding!]
[Congratulations to Host for keeping the SSS Shadow Plane Ability.]
[The next SSS Ability granted to you is SSS Echo Resonant Ability.]
[This ability allows you to generate sounds you’ve heard before within a 20-meter radius.]
[You will have this ability for 3 days and if you can kill off 300 enemies within these 3 days, you get to keep the Ability.]
[If you can’t achieve it, you wouldn’t be able to keep the ability when the 3 days are over.]
[Current status: 0/300]
[Day 1 of 3 for SSS Echo Resonant Ability.]
Alex was pleasantly surprised with what he saw in the information panels in his mind.
He checked the time and it was indeed past midnight.
It couldn’t come at a better time for him.
He put the earbuds into his ears and he heard a voice speaking, "Requesting for situation report, over."
Using his SSS Echo Resonant, he generated the voice of Lieutenant Lee and replied, "Everything under control, mission accomplished.
"We are rounding them up for the return now, over."
He tried to speak as little as possible in case he slipped up.
Thankfully, the person on the other end didn’t suspect a thing and said, "Congrats, General Xavier shall wait for your return, over."
Then, the earbuds turned silent.
Alex took out the earbuds from his ears and gave out a sigh in relief.
"What’s the matter?" Terry came over and frowned at him.
Brian shrugged and said, "Most likely we have to move as soon as possible."
"Yes, we will have to do it quickly." Alex nodded his head and said.
"However, we might not be able to cut through the city to get to the hydroelectric dam anymore.
"We might meet with the soldiers on our way to the city, and they might be on high alert in the city, searching for us."
He added on and Riley frowned at him, "What do you suggest?"
Alex gave out another sigh and he took out the map he had.
The others came over and he pointed to the woods that were behind the school of Bio-science.
"If we can get over the hill and reach the path on the other side of the woods, we can take a detour to the hydroelectric dam instead of cutting through the city."
His finger traced through the woods marked on the map and stopped at a path on the other side of it.
"We will trek over the hill altogether?" Riley frowned and asked.
Alex thought for a moment and said, "We can either move together with us taking the lead and the other Awakened covering our back; however, with such a large group, it might be tough to coordinate well enough.
"We could also split up into teams of four and trek through the hill separately.
"This way, we wouldn’t be captured all at once."
He said and glanced at the others, letting them think about it.
Personally, he was much more in favor of the second option as being in a smaller group has the advantage of not drawing too much attention to whatever mutated beasts that lurk inside.
Being separate meant that those who weren’t detected had a chance of running away successfully.
The soldiers coming after them would also have to spread out their resources to try and capture all of them.
Lastly, it would also be much easier to give instructions and maneuver in the woods.
That was what his friends thought too.
"I think it’s better that we move in four groups.
"We have two hundred over in total and there would be around fifty over people in each group.
"The three of us will lead one of the groups while you lead the other left." Brian said, and the others nodded their heads at his suggestion.
Alex sighed and thought that it was the best possible arrangement they could think of at the moment.
He picked up his walkie talkie and pressed on the speak button.
Buzz.
The walkie talkie gave out a buzz and he said, "Eddy, get all of them to the school of Bio-science with all their belongings."
"We are on our way now." Eddy replied without any hesitation.
It didn’t take them too long.
All of them arrived at the school of Bio-science with whatever they had on them.
Alex stood in front of them and he started to brief them.
"As things have changed, we are no longer safe in here.
"We have to move to another location at the hydroelectric dam, but we wouldn’t be able to cut through the city as planned.
"I need you to separate into four groups, get over the hill and meet up again on the other side of the hill."
The other students glanced at each other and they started to chatter.
"Is it safe in the woods?"
"Anyone around to help us when we encounter the mutated beasts?"
"What should we do if anyone got hurt?"
Although all of them have dealt with mutated beasts by now, some were still worried about being exposed in the wilderness compared to the safety of the dorm building they had.
Alex shook his head at them and said, "There are no guarantees in times like this."
It was a fact and he wasn’t going to sugarcoat things.
"My friends would be in charge of the other groups while I will take lead with my group."
He was the strongest among them all, so if he took the front, he would be able to clear as many mutated beasts as he could for the other groups behind.
The students nodded their heads at him.
Although they preferred to be in Alex’s group, having Riley, Terry and Brian around was also good enough to make them feel better with the arrangement.
Alex proceeded to separate out the medical students among the four groups and let Patricia together with Teresa and her team of researchers be in his group.
Doing so would ensure that all of the groups would have someone with medical knowledge, and having Teresa and her research team with him would ensure that they would have a higher chance of survival.
And having Patricia with him ensured that his plan to cultivate crops wouldn’t be disrupted if she was in another group and got captured.
Once everything was settled, they formed up into four groups, and all of them headed into the woods behind the school of Bio-science.
