Chapter 514: Chapter 245: Tallying the Spoils, Qin Hu’s Determination for Independence
"What’s the word from the Federation’s leadership?"
Lin Feng asked calmly.
The price for such an act would be steep. It might seem like the various factions in the rear safe zones were at odds with the Federation—paying lip service but acting independently—but in reality, no one dared to openly oppose them. At the very least, they all still claimed allegiance to the Federation.
Lin Feng was an exception. His Salvation Army and Jin City Base had no connection to the Old Federation.
Furthermore, the true strength of these local factions was no match for the Federation Military. Especially now, with the successful breakout from the Capital, the Federation’s high command—possessing hundreds of thousands of soldiers—was still the most powerful force in the land.
But this time, the schism would begin from within.
The over one hundred thousand people led by Qin Hu would openly defy the Federation.
Making such a move required immense resolve.
The cost would be equally high.
Qin Hu understood what Lin Feng meant. Yesterday, at the Capital City defense line, he had only briefly touched on the subject. Now that the dust had settled, it was time to make a decision.
"Last night, I purged the spies from our ranks. This morning, they and the traitors we caught in the city will be publicly executed before a million survivors and the press. We will use this to expose their betrayal of humanity—how they sold out a million survivors just to save their own skins."
"Since the Federation’s leadership is struggling to find a scapegoat for the failed defense of the Capital, I’ll deliver one to them myself."
Lin Feng couldn’t help but laugh before quickly composing himself.
"A fine idea. It’ll put them in a bind."
Qin Hu continued confidently:
"This is just the beginning. As long as we can stabilize the million survivors under our care, gather the necessary supplies, and secure our footing, I believe it won’t be long before the fractured Federation leadership simply collapses on its own..."
Lin Feng frowned slightly and asked:
"What about the nuclear bombs they control, and the hundreds of thousands of soldiers they evacuated? Over a hundred thousand of those are Awakeners. Those two issues can’t be resolved quickly."
Qin Hu nodded and offered his perspective:
"The strategic missiles capable of launching nuclear bombs are still under the direct control of the Federation’s high command. However, the warheads themselves were distributed to the corps commanders long ago. I myself have over twenty in my possession."
"Many of the major factions in the rear safe zones have a few nuclear bombs for emergencies."
"So, we don’t need to worry too much. If they dare to risk universal condemnation by launching nukes at their own people, they’ll face the same threat the very next day."
"As for your second point, from what I know, the only main forces evacuated were the troops from the West and North Districts. The East District forces, which took over our rearguard duties, suffered massive casualties during the breakout. Conversely, since the defenders in the West and North Districts faced less intense combat, the proportion of Awakeners in their ranks is not particularly high."
"Even if they managed to evacuate over three hundred thousand people, Awakeners probably only make up about 10% of that number. Their overall strength still can’t compare to ours."
Seeing Qin Hu’s resolve, Lin Feng moved on to the next phase of their plan:
"After this massive breakout battle, the various Mid-stage Mother Empresses will need some time to rest and consolidate their gains."
"However, the Mid-stage Mother Empress beyond the eastern front will be the most resentful."
"The other Mother Empresses, in the West and North Districts, managed to profit from the retreating armies. Only the one in the east, despite its intricate schemes and layered plots to create a sacrificial ritual, failed. It had hoped to advance to the Tier Three Late Stage in one go, but all its efforts came to nothing. In the end, it only managed to get a few scraps from ordinary survivors..."
"Therefore, it’s certain to be plotting its next move."
"But that won’t be for at least another week."
"In the meantime, we need to complete the Realm Trial and deal with the power struggle against the Federation’s leadership."
"If we want to truly establish ourselves in Yunxia Ridge, we must fight one of the Zerg Race’s top powers. We need to kill a Tier Three Mid-stage Mother Empress to make a name for ourselves."
"This is our top priority."
"As for logistics and supplies, we can establish deep cooperation with the major factions in the rear safe zones through trade and barter."
"I’m sure they won’t complain about an overabundance of live Zerg!"
"I can make the introductions for you when the time comes."
Qin Hu was overjoyed to hear Lin Feng’s promises and his vision for the future. He took a deep breath:
"Enough said. My thanks in advance!"
Lin Feng nodded.
"Go back and get ready. The Realm Trial is scheduled for tomorrow morning."
Qin Hu gave a silent nod.
After they finished discussing the details of their plan, Lin Feng had Qin Hu leave behind ten armored vehicles.
He intended to use them as transport for the Salvation Army.
Of course, that was just his official reason.
The Shelter beneath the main peak still held ten carapaces from Tank Flame Beetles, which could be used to forge a fleet of modified vehicles impervious to Bone Blades!
