Apocalypse: I'm Bound to a Mobile Lottery Shop
Chapter 431: Food Delivery Launch
Chapter 431: Chapter 431: Food Delivery Launch
Seeing this, Brock Finch decided to stay and help her set up the shop and upload its products.
The Zhengxin Fried Chicken Cutlet shop didn’t have many items on its menu—only about ten so far—so the two of them finished in just a few minutes.
After getting the fried chicken shop sorted, Sylvia Jarvis grabbed Serena Sawyer, who was about to head back to her bubble tea shop.
During their meal earlier, Lily Hart had briefly mentioned that this was the new manager who would be handling package and food delivery.
All food shops could join the delivery platform, and if the night market vendors wanted in, they were more than welcome.
They just had to be sure they could handle the workload, since the delivery platform had a time limit for order fulfillment.
Given all this, Serena Sawyer and the others were more than happy to get on the platform.
The two of them worked on it as they walked, and by the time they reached the bubble tea shop, they were already done. Serena Sawyer even offered to treat her to bubble tea.
Sylvia Jarvis politely declined, saying she had orders to dispatch, and scurried back to the delivery station.
Of course, while that was true, she also felt a little awkward accepting the offer. She felt she hadn’t done enough to earn it.
’Besides, a cup of bubble tea isn’t cheap, and there are so many customers outside the shop. It’s too much trouble...’ Sylvia thought.
She had invited the hot pot restaurant, the Zhengxin Fried Chicken Cutlet shop, and the bubble tea shop. Now all that was left was the cake shop and the breakfast shop!
She had originally wanted to include the private kitchen as well, but she heard he only made fifty dishes a day, all of them custom orders for high-level personnel.
Sylvia Jarvis abandoned that idea.
She first returned to the delivery station and opened her Light Brain. She found that there were already three orders for the hot pot restaurant and one for the Zhengxin Fried Chicken Cutlet shop.
And on the shelves placed against the wall, the items customers had ordered had appeared.
The products had barcodes. Scanning one meant the food prep was complete and it was ready for dispatch.
She scanned them one by one with her Light Brain, feeling an indescribable sense of satisfaction as she watched the items disappear before her eyes.
Looking down at her Light Brain again, she saw that the customers had already received their items.
Sylvia Jarvis was even happier and wanted to immediately find the cake shop owner to discuss joining the platform.
Just as she turned around, new items from customer orders appeared on the shelves.
’That’s strange,’ Sylvia Jarvis wondered. ’The delivery platform just launched, how did so many people find out about it so quickly?’
Of course, it was because Lily Hart was promoting it with all her might.
First, she posted a link on the Human Social Sphere, which allowed users to download the delivery app directly.
She even wrote out detailed instructions on how to order, providing a true step-by-step tutorial.
Then, she forwarded the link to all the Base Commanders she had contact information for!
She had joyfully and excitedly told them, "It’s delivery! We’re saved!"
Because of this, more and more people learned about the delivery platform.
Though when they first opened it, huh, why was there only a hot pot restaurant? But never mind that! Having anything was better than nothing!
Right after carefully selecting their hot pot order, they would refresh the platform.
Huh, why was there a Zhengxin Fried Chicken Cutlet shop now? The picture looks so tempting. Must try, must try.
Huh, there’s a bubble tea shop too. I was just thinking I didn’t have anything to drink. I’ll order one to try.
And so, Sylvia Jarvis gradually became lost among the shelves. Luckily, dispatch was simple, requiring just a BEEP of the scanner.
Otherwise, it would have been a real struggle.
She could only find a spare moment to send an invitation to the cake shop owner, Rhonda Kane, and attached a voice-recorded tutorial.
She really didn’t have time to type.
She had no idea how many people were ordering hot pot, but it seemed like almost all the shelves were filled with hot pot orders.
This was mainly because the hot pot restaurant could prepare orders quickly, whereas the fried chicken cutlets had to be personally fried by Brock Finch.
The busy hour passed quickly. Sylvia Jarvis stopped to drink some water and rest.
She casually opened the delivery platform. What was once a single, lonely hot pot restaurant had now become a bustling group of four shops!
The hot pot restaurant, the Zhengxin Fried Chicken Cutlet shop, the bubble tea shop, and the cake shop.
A satisfied smile appeared on Sylvia Jarvis’s face. Looking at the shelves full of orders, she felt a surge of motivation.
Moreover, every shop had reviews, and every product had its own sales count and star rating.
Sylvia Jarvis had no time to look, but Lily Hart was reading them with great interest.
Bubble Tea Shop.
[OMG, everyone needs to try the Cheesy Green Grape with Pulp! It’s so, so, so good! It’s packed with green grapes!]
Lily Hart remembered Serena Sawyer complaining about this drink before, about how difficult the green grapes were to peel! But its sales had always been good.
[And this Crunchy Crème Brûlée Milk Foam, it’s absolutely heavenly. I hereby declare it a divine creation!]
[I’ve gotta disagree with the person above me. The real divine drink is the Coconut Matcha Mochi!]
[Wow, what kind of person drinks Coconut Matcha Mochi? The texture is so weird, okay?! You have no taste!]
[We’re talking about bubble tea, why are you making personal attacks? If you’ve got guts, name your base, and I’ll take the high-speed rail over to beat you up!]
Lily Hart really wanted to laugh. For a moment, it was like she was back in the civilized era, watching netizens argue online.
Back then, it had just seemed so ordinary.
She never thought she’d see a scene like this again.
Hot Pot Restaurant.
The comments here were a bit more normal, mostly pictures and positive reviews.
It was either praising this dish for being delicious or that dish for being delicious, but there were arguments here too.
[Who on earth eats brain? It’s such a disgusting dish!]
[No one’s forcing you to eat it, for God’s sake. If you don’t like it, just don’t order it!]
[Exactly, brain is obviously delicious. It’s savory and tender. People who don’t get it are missing out!]
[I paid for it, so why can’t I complain?!]
’Are these people just too bored, or have they had too much good food? They can argue about anything, can’t they?’
The reviews for the other two shops were more or less the same—a mix of good and bad.
She had a profound feeling that her arrival was the reason everyone’s palates had become so spoiled.
Especially in the few cities near Kaelus. It was so convenient now with the high-speed rail.
If they craved hot pot, they’d just take the train over for a meal, stroll around a bit after eating, and then head back after dark.
It had gotten to the point where they were starting to complain about brain, complaining that this wasn’t good and that wasn’t good.
Sigh. Lily Hart let out a breath.
But now, with the delivery platform, more survivors should be able to enjoy this convenience.
She had always been dedicated to spreading these things far and wide.
Lily Hart stood up and ambled over to the delivery station. The place actually hadn’t closed. How rare.
She poked her head in and caught a glimpse of Sylvia Jarvis’s busy figure.
Like a busy little bee, zipping back and forth between the shelves. She had to be getting dizzy from all that spinning.
She didn’t notice Lily Hart’s arrival at all. Lily watched from the doorway for a while before deciding to go in and help.
Her Light Brain could also scan, and she quickly got the hang of it, scanning with incredible speed.
But even that couldn’t keep up with the flood of delivery orders. An item would be dispatched from a spot, and a new order would appear almost instantly.
There was simply no break. Everyone was just too curious about this new thing.
After a good while, Lily Hart stopped and waved her hand. "This won’t work. You’re going to work yourself to death."
Right now, it was just a few shelves. In the future, the shelves would fill the entire delivery station. How could she possibly scan everything by herself?
Of course, the answer was... buy robots!
One simple trick that never fails.
Sylvia Jarvis couldn’t hear a word Lily was saying. She was busy scanning, scanning, scanning, non-stop.
Then, a flash of white light appeared in her peripheral vision, and two robots materialized.
They were just ordinary humanoid robots, but their two eyes glowed with red light, like scanners.
"That’s right, their eyes are scanners. Isn’t this much faster than you scanning everything manually?"
