Apocalypse: I'm Bound to a Mobile Lottery Shop
Chapter 409: Silverwing Base
Chapter 409: Chapter 409: Silverwing Base
Right, play on the Light Brain.
’Oh, right. I can also set up the automatic scratch-off machines, vending machines, clinic, and high-speed rail station for Harshwind Base.’
’Damn, the daily expenses really add up.’
’It’s at least 800,000 points. Luckily, I’m earning more than I’m spending every day now.’
’I’d really feel the sting otherwise...’
After sorting that out, Lily Hart found herself with nothing to do again. She made her routine calls to Elder Shaw and the others, partly to stay in touch and partly to ask about the current situation at Central Command.
In short, with Lily Hart’s support, everything was going well.
And with the new high-speed rail, travel between Kaelus, Kembey City, and Silvorna had become even more convenient.
People could even pop over to the next city to kill zombies when they were bored—something that would have been unthinkable before.
Seeing Cathaya improve day by day, Elder Shaw was deeply moved, wishing he could live another hundred years.
He had a feeling that by then, Cathaya would have been restored to its former civilized glory, free of zombies and mutated creatures.
After catching up with Elder Shaw and the others and getting an update on the situation, Lily Hart’s internal clock told her it was time for bed. She was getting sleepy.
It was almost closing time anyway, so she went upstairs to sleep.
On her way, she casually reminded Diana Sharp and Tina Jacobs to turn off the lights, lock the door, and feed the robots their Crystal Cores.
Even though the two of them were used to doing it, Lily Hart couldn’t help but fuss over them a little.
’Maybe I’m just destined to be a worrier, huh?’ Lily Hart smiled, shook her head, and ambled upstairs.
Lily Hart slept soundly, but there were plenty of others who couldn’t.
For example, Frost Shaw and Roman Rowe on the second floor of the convenience store, and Owen Warren inside the bathhouse.
They stared wide-eyed at the walls, lost in thought, and no one knew when they finally drifted off to sleep.
...
「The next day.」
Lily Hart stretched lazily, brushing her teeth in front of the mirror while admiring her own beauty, then went downstairs after her simple skincare routine.
Strangely, she saw... Simon Keane? In disbelief, she glanced up at the sun.
’It’s rising in the east. Yep, that’s right.’
’If the sun is rising in the east like normal, why am I seeing Simon Keane this early? Shouldn’t he be asleep in his hotel room?’
Lily Hart’s curious gaze followed him as he deftly unlocked the door to the breakfast shop and switched on the rice noodle roll steamer.
He made himself a serving of rice noodle rolls with extra meat and egg, then packed it to-go, planning to take it back to the hotel.
"Hey! Old man!" Lily Hart shouted.
Simon Keane jumped, looking left and right guiltily, but only saw the empty RV.
He breathed a sigh of relief and continued toward the hotel. Lily Hart was speechless. She took two steps forward.
Stepping outside the Protective Shield’s perimeter, she shouted again, "Hey! Simon Keane!"
This time, Simon Keane saw her. He stood his ground, unwilling to come any closer, and just shouted from a distance, "What do you want?"
He even subconsciously tried to hide the rice noodle rolls behind his back, but he was playing right into Lily Hart’s hands. "Make me some rice noodle rolls," she said. "I want one exactly like yours."
Simon Keane was rendered speechless.
He didn’t dare refuse, though. He just turned back to the breakfast shop, grumbling under his breath as he made Lily Hart an identical order.
Once it was ready, he packed it in a to-go container, sauntered over to the RV, and tossed it onto the table outside.
Lily Hart didn’t mind. She watched him scurry back to the hotel before she finally burst out laughing.
’That old man... Don’t tell me he gets up every morning to make himself breakfast, or at least grabs some ready-made stuff.’
’Judging by how practiced he was, this couldn’t have been his first time. I can’t believe I never noticed.’
’No wonder I’ve seen the breakfast shop open a few times. I just thought someone forgot to lock up the night before.’
As Lily Hart mused, she quickly finished her rice noodle rolls and gazed at the tall perimeter wall shrouded in the distant white mist.
That was Silvorna’s last remaining base: Silverwing Base.
’Every day is pretty much the same,’ she thought. ’The only real variables are, "Did anyone win the grand prize today?" and "What cool rewards popped up?"’
At ten o’clock, the crowd of customers started to grow. Lily Hart strolled down the middle of the main road, her hands clasped behind her back.
She observed the shops on either side; every single one was packed with people!
Lily Hart walked over to the car dealership and was surprised to find Fiona Finch holding a delivery ceremony.
In other words, anyone who bought a car would get to enjoy this ceremony.
This was something the two of them had just discussed yesterday. Since the mall had a Light Brain, the whole scene could be set up with a single click after an order was placed.
Everything from balloon backdrops and red silk ribbons on the car to confetti cannons—the whole process was perfectly arranged.
It gave customers the perfect vehicle delivery experience. They even got license plates and could choose their own numbers.
With one of those license plates, everyone would know you bought your car from Boss Hart.
These were all standard practices from the age of civilization, of course; Lily Hart had simply copied them.
’Wow, selling a car this early in the morning. Not bad at all!’
Lily Hart stood outside the dealership and watched the entire delivery ceremony unfold: first the confetti cannons, then the firecrackers, and finally, the on-the-spot license plate selection.
The process was quite thorough. The owner was clearly thrilled, probably feeling a bit of pride.
After all, a large crowd of onlookers was staring at him with undisguised envy.
This only further stoked the crowd’s desire to buy a car, sending them flocking to the robots to ask about financing options.
Lily Hart found Fiona Finch, who was running around like a headless chicken, and asked her, "How are you feeling? Settling in okay?"
Fiona Finch’s head was spinning; just too many people were asking her questions.
When she saw it was Boss Hart, she breathed a sigh of relief, having mistaken her for another customer.
She steadied herself by leaning on Lily Hart for a moment. "It’s great! No one dares to bully me, and no one bad-mouths me anymore~"
Fiona Finch glanced down at her right foot, still finding it hard to believe. It was completely healed!
She had walked so much yesterday and expected it to be sore this morning. She’d even massaged it for a long time last night, but thankfully, there was no pain.
It wasn’t the pain she was afraid of, but the fear that it would prevent her from opening the dealership and leave a bad impression on Lily Hart.
Lily Hart followed her gaze, looking down at her right foot as well.
She asked softly, "Is it all right?"
In response, Fiona nodded even more vigorously. "Better than ever!"
Lily Hart was relieved. She patted Fiona’s arm. "That’s good. Just make sure to take care of yourself. If you run into anything you can’t handle, don’t hesitate to come find me."
With that, she turned and left with a flourish, without a backward glance.
’Boss Hart is so cool, so dependable, so responsible!’ Fiona Finch watched her go with stars in her eyes.
’I’m going to follow Boss Hart for the rest of my life! I’ll sell cars for her for the rest of my life! I’ll make money for her for the rest of my life!’
Just as her heart swelled with grand ambition, a customer tapped her on the shoulder, pulling her back to reality.
"Miss, how does the financing work for that car?"
Fiona Finch, emulating Lily Hart, put on a professional smile and patiently answered his questions.
After leaving the dealership, Lily Hart’s feet naturally carried her across the street to the Zhengxin Fried Chicken shop.
’I can’t help it, it just smells too good! You know what I mean!’
A long line snaked out the door. Nobody seemed to care one bit whether they should be eating fried food in the morning.
’Who the hell cares? We’re lucky to have anything to eat at all, okay?!’
Lily Hart walked past the line of people and spotted the busy Brock Finch inside.
Luckily, there were three deep fryers, so all he had to do was drop the food in.
And take it out when the timer went off.
