Apocalypse: I'm Bound to a Mobile Lottery Shop
Chapter 401: Harshwind Base
Chapter 401: Chapter 401: Harshwind Base
Ah, this life of eating when you want and sleeping when you want, with nothing to worry about, is the best!
After purchasing the automatic scratch-off ticket machine, the vending machine, and the clinic replica with a single click, Lily Hart set down her Light Brain with a sense of peace.
Then, she remembered something else, picked her Light Brain back up, bought a high-speed rail station, and placed it at the Celestial Citrus Base.
There. All done.
’I don’t think I’ve forgotten anything.’ Once closing time passed, Lily Hart checked the first-floor security monitor.
The customers were gradually returning to their bases, and Diana Sharp and Tina Jacobs were cleaning up the scratch-off tickets.
After they finished cleaning, they put the stools back under the tables, turned off the lights, closed up the four sides of the vehicle, and went back to the convenience store to sleep.
Lily Hart glanced at the time. It was nearly ten-thirty. The kids had been sleeping at the store for a long time now.
’Will this stunt their growth?’
Lily Hart sighed. ’No wonder it feels like these kids haven’t grown an inch in months.’
’They’re eating well, so is it because they’re not getting enough rest?’
The breakfast shop, convenience store, clinic, milk tea shop, cake shop, and even the vegetable plots were all using robots now.
It was safe to say, she had automated everything she possibly could.
’I won’t let anyone get tired. Everyone is going to live a life of comfort on my watch!’
’Maybe I should buy a few robots for the lottery shop, too?’
Lily Hart immediately ordered two robots and configured their programming. They would be ready for work the next morning.
The next morning, a refreshed and cheerful Lily Hart came down to the first floor.
A few minutes later, Diana Sharp and Tina Jacobs arrived and immediately spotted the robots at the front desk, organizing the scratch-off tickets.
They both jumped in surprise, exchanging a nervous glance as countless thoughts raced through their minds.
Seeing them arrive, Lily Hart immediately said, "Come, come, these are the new employees."
Diana Sharp and Tina Jacobs timidly stepped forward and stood face-to-face with the two robots. The atmosphere was a bit strange.
"HAHAHAHA..." Lily Hart didn’t expect any profound understanding to develop between the two parties.
She quickly sent the robots back to their posts before explaining to the two girls, "I was worried you two were getting too tired and that it would stunt your growth, so I bought two robots to help you out."
The two of them subconsciously breathed a sigh of relief. That was terrifying; they had almost thought they were being replaced.
And so, the two girls and two machines began to coexist harmoniously, making Lily Hart’s life even easier.
Before, when Diana Sharp and Tina Jacobs got too busy, she would have to help sell the Super Lotto tickets.
Now, she wasn’t needed at all. ’Why does this feel so good?’
Being idle, Lily Hart really wanted someone to win a first-place prize, or a Night Market Machine, or some other novel reward.
Something that could give her a bit of fun—no, something to do.
Oh, right. This was another new base, called Harshwind Base.
Lily Hart finished her breakfast, which was the purple sweet potato congee that Frost Shaw had cooked last night.
It was very sweet.
Since no one had started shouting about winning a grand prize yet, she decided to take a walk around the base.
The first shop on the right was the breakfast shop, packed with people. The first shop on the left was the clinic, also packed with people.
The road between them was very wide, so there was no congestion.
Lily Hart went to the breakfast shop. Inside, three robots were so busy they were practically flying, yet everything was still perfectly orderly.
They handled the customers with practiced ease. Anyway, even if the customers were grumbling and cursing, the robots couldn’t understand them.
Perfect!
With her hands behind her back, Lily Hart left, satisfied, and headed to the clinic.
The customers all knew the rules and were obediently lining up. Even if there were one or two troublemakers, Roman Rowe had scared them into submission with his fists, forcing them to queue up obediently.
When Lily Hart arrived, Roman Rowe was busy maintaining order and didn’t notice her at all.
She didn’t mind. She was just there to take a look around. Seeing that everything was fine, she nodded and turned to leave.
By the time Roman Rowe saw her, he only caught a glimpse of her back as she walked into the convenience store.
Connecting this to the smug expression Frost Shaw had worn earlier, he couldn’t help but let out a soft "tsk." ’What... what is going on here!’
’A single slow step means you’re always a step behind, huh?’
"Argh... I’m dying of pain! Can you let me go in first, boss!"
Just as Roman Rowe was about to chase after her, a customer’s cry of pain came from behind him. He turned around, speechless.
His gaze shifted downward. There was a large gash on the man’s right calf. Based on his life-and-death experience, it wasn’t very serious.
Still, he offered some comfort, "It’s fine, it’s fine. The pain won’t kill you. It’ll be your turn in just a few more people, ’kay?"
After placating the man, he turned back to look for Lily Hart. Ha, she was long gone inside.
「Inside the convenience store.」
Lily Hart had her hands folded on the checkout counter, chatting with Easton.
"Have your parents sent you any more messages?"
Easton shook his head. "Not anymore. I told them if they messaged me again, I’d tell you all and have Boss Hart put them on the blacklist!"
’Wow, what a useful threat.’
Being put on the blacklist, after all, meant that you couldn’t make purchases at any of Lily Hart’s stores.
Any! Single! One!
This included, but was not limited to, the online supermarket, the fruit flash sales, the automatic scratch-off machines, and the vending machines...
Unless you used someone else’s account to buy things.
Lily Hart smiled and patted Easton’s head. "Well done. That’s exactly what you should do. Did they really think they could control you?"
"Lily!" Frost Shaw said, pleasantly surprised. He quickly moved to her side, subconsciously wanting to take her hand.
But there were too many people around. Easton, Stewart and Julius Carter, and Frederick Shaw were all watching them like hawks from the side.
Frost Shaw silently withdrew his hand and just looked at her instead.
Lily Hart returned his gaze with a smile. "I came to see how things are going. Is everything all right at the convenience store?"
Frost Shaw nodded. "Yes!"
’It’s been running for so long without any major issues. She definitely didn’t come just to check on the store. Who she came to see... was self-evident.’ Frost Shaw was secretly delighted.
"Ah, good. In that case, I’ll be going now." Hearing his reply, Lily Hart left, satisfied.
Frost Shaw froze. ’Why is she leaving right after arriving? Isn’t she going to stay a little longer?’ His mind spun wildly, trying to think of something to make her stay.
Before Frost Shaw could come up with anything, Lily Hart’s foot was already crossing the threshold.
Frost Shaw retracted his gaze, swept it over the four boys one by one, and cleared his throat twice. "Stop staring, all of you. Get back to work."
Across from the convenience store was the cake shop, so she popped in to say hello to Rhonda Kane.
When she learned that everything was fine, that the robots could do everything, and that business was good, she left happily.
Next, she moseyed on into the hot pot restaurant, which was as lively and bustling as ever.
Cynthia Whittaker was sitting behind the register, idly binge-watching a drama—one that Lily Hart had actually recommended to her.
It was perfect for watching in her spare time.
So much so that Cynthia Whittaker didn’t even notice Lily Hart’s arrival.
"Is it good?" Lily Hart leaned in close to her, watched along for a few minutes, and then spoke up.
Cynthia Whittaker nearly jumped out of her skin. On the Light Brain’s screen, the male and female leads were in the middle of a kissing scene.
Only after seeing it was Boss Hart did Cynthia Whittaker calm down, nodding repeatedly.
"It’s good, so good! The male lead is so handsome!" Cynthia Whittaker said excitedly. "Watching this makes me want to kiss someone."
Lily Hart burst out laughing. "If you want to, then go do it." ’I support you. I totally support you.’
’Kissing really is a wonderful thing.’
Cynthia Whittaker’s mood suddenly deflated. "It’s useless to want it. There’s no one around to kiss, is there?"
"There are so many handsome guys around here. Just grab one, and you’re set," Lily Hart goaded.
"Oh, please," Cynthia Whittaker said.
