Apocalypse: I'm Bound to a Mobile Lottery Shop
Chapter 400: Misunderstanding
Chapter 400: Chapter 400: Misunderstanding
She just sat there until Roman Rowe pulled her to her feet. He declared righteously, "Boss Hart, you can’t just sit around after eating. It’s bad for you!"
He then took her hand and led her on a stroll around the RV, making her feel like an eighty-year-old woman who could barely walk.
He even whispered reminders, "There’s a table up ahead. Let’s move this way a little."
Lily Hart replied, speechless, "Thanks, I can see."
Roman Rowe didn’t feel the least bit awkward. He let out a couple of goofy chuckles and continued pulling her along to help her digest. He, for one, was perfectly happy.
Frost Shaw, who had just emerged from the kitchen after being busy... was not so happy.
He flicked the water droplets from his hands. He had just set the pot to cook some purple sweet potato congee for Lily Hart, timed so it would be ready for her in the morning.
But the moment he came out, this was the scene that greeted him: Roman Rowe, cheerfully pulling Lily Hart along for a walk inside the RV. ’Is this right?’
’If they have to take a walk, does it have to be in the RV? The space is so small. Can you even have a proper walk in here?’
Frost Shaw felt a little sullen. He wanted to go back to the convenience store but wasn’t willing to just leave.
He wanted to hold Lily Hart’s hand and go for a walk, too. ’Oh well,’ he thought. ’I can wait.’
He waited and waited. When Lily Hart started to get tired, Roman Rowe took his leave, trotting happily back to the clinic, completely oblivious to Frost Shaw in the corner.
After Roman Rowe left the RV, Lily Hart sat on the sofa to rest.
Just then, Frost Shaw approached.
Lily Hart felt the cushion beside her dip. She opened her eyes to see Frost Shaw’s pitiful, aggrieved expression.
’How am I supposed to treat everyone equally?’
Just as Lily Hart was about to speak, Frost Shaw leaned in and pressed his lips against hers. "Mmph?" She instinctively closed her eyes.
His kissing technique was getting better and better. One hand cradled the back of her neck as he gently caressed her earlobe.
Her earlobe was sensitive, and the position felt a little awkward. She shifted unconsciously, which only pressed her closer to him.
Emboldened, Frost Shaw reached out, wrapped an arm around her waist, and pulled her slightly forward.
She nearly tumbled into his embrace.
After a good while, Frost Shaw reluctantly let her go, but he didn’t pull away, remaining just as close.
Frost Shaw took her hand, stroking the back of it as he murmured, "Lily..."
He wanted to say something but didn’t know where to begin.
’What could I say? That I don’t want to see you so close with Roman Rowe? But what right do I have to say that?’
Lily Hart waited for a long time, but nothing followed. She did, however, find the way he said "Lily" quite pleasant. "What is it?"
She propped her head on one hand, leaning back against the sofa and letting him toy with her other hand as she gazed at his fresh haircut.
After a moment, Frost Shaw guided her hand to his neck.
The pad of her thumb landed right on his Adam’s apple. Curious, Lily Hart gave it a little press. "Ngh..." he grunted.
Lily Hart thought, ’Is this some kind of button?’
Finding it amusing, she pressed it a few more times and even began to gently caress it.
Frost Shaw’s eyes grew darker, and his Adam’s apple bobbed. Her hand felt scorching hot as she toyed with it.
And yet, he was more than happy to let her.
Lily Hart chuckled softly. She’d had her fun and tried to pull her hand back, but he held her wrist fast.
She couldn’t get it back.
Lily Hart tugged again, meaning only to retrieve her hand, but she ended up pulling his whole body toward her.
He fell right on top of her.
A crushing kiss descended, and his broad frame blocked her view of the world.
Lily Hart simply closed her eyes, giving his chest a couple of light pushes to warn him not to get too carried away.
Perhaps their brainwaves weren’t in sync, because Frost Shaw completely misunderstood.
He stood up, his face set, and swept Lily Hart up into his arms, striding toward the stairs.
’Huh?’ Lily thought. ’Is this really happening?’
His whole face was flushed, and his usually cool body now felt warm.
She was a bit dumbfounded.
Diana Sharp and Tina Jacobs heard the commotion and turned around just in time to see the back of Frost Shaw carrying Lily Hart up the stairs.
They reached the second floor.
Frost Shaw tossed Lily Hart onto the bed and leaned down to continue what he had started.
Lily Hart’s head was spinning from being tossed. He’d moved up the stairs so fast that she hadn’t even had time to ask anything.
But they were kissing again, so she couldn’t really ask. Besides, her legs were starting to feel weak.
When the kiss finally ended, Lily Hart asked, "Why did we come upstairs?"
Frost Shaw propped himself up, looking a little dazed himself. "Didn’t you want me to bring you up here?"
What a beautiful misunderstanding.
Lily Hart thought, her gaze falling on his face. His lips were slightly red and swollen from their intense kissing, looking moist and shiny.
His hair was a mess, too. ’Did I mess it up by accident just now?’ she wondered.
Lily Hart wrapped her arms around his neck and tilted her chin up. Frost Shaw’s heart leaped with joy as he leaned in to kiss her again.
Her legs were slightly bent, and Frost Shaw lay beside her, not daring to put his full weight on top of her.
It was another long kiss.
When the kiss ended, Frost Shaw buried his face in her shoulder, gently wrapping his arms around her waist and inhaling her scent.
He asked in a muffled voice, "Lily, do you like me?"
’Huh? Things were going so well, why ask such a buzzkill question?’
Lily Hart’s hand moved to the back of his head, feeling his soft hair and twisting a lock of it around her finger.
Still, she didn’t hesitate for long. "Of course I do."
Frost Shaw’s body went rigid. He asked in disbelief, "R-Really?"
’Of course not, you silly boy~’
Lily Hart hummed softly in affirmation. The moment she did, he started pecking her face like a woodpecker, planting several quick kisses.
After that, he bolted, his retreating figure looking like that of a victorious general.
Lying on the bed, Lily Hart savored the aftertaste of the kiss. ’He’s a fast learner.’
’From his initial awkwardness, when he didn’t even know where to tilt his head and our noses would bump...’
’...to his current skill... I’m so satisfied. And I’m the one who taught him~’
’The satisfaction of raising one from scratch is the best.’
It wasn’t that she didn’t like him at all. It was just... her heart was only so big, and it had to make room for so many people.
Frost Shaw, Roman Rowe, Seth, Stan Sterling, Owen Warren, Leo Colby.
And then there was Julian Lynch from Central Command, whom she had only met once or twice. He was a real catch, too.
Lily Hart mentally ran down the list. They were all great. She wanted to keep them all in her heart.
But they could only take up half of it. The other half was for her lottery shop. Making money was the most important thing, after all!
It was almost closing time anyway. Lily Hart couldn’t be bothered to go back downstairs, so she decided to just take a shower.
Frost Shaw didn’t go back to the convenience store. Instead, he ran two or three laps around the area until the frantic excitement in his heart finally began to subside.
But every time he remembered Lily saying, "Of course I do~" his heart would swell with happiness!!
He was so happy he felt like he could fly. He wanted to go kill tens of thousands of zombies. He wanted to kiss Lily Hart hundreds more times.
Frost Shaw told himself to calm down and not act like some country bumpkin who’d never seen the world.
So, he feigned calmness and returned to the convenience store, a smug look plastered on his face.
He even made a point of walking past the clinic entrance, locking eyes with Roman Rowe, who was behind the cash register.
Roman Rowe’s baffled gaze followed him for a second before he looked away, unconcerned. But on second thought, something felt off.
’Under what circumstances would Frost Shaw be so damn smug?’
The thought made Roman Rowe antsy. Fuming, he started pacing behind the cash register.
Meanwhile, at the lottery shop, Lily Hart finished her shower, changed into some comfortable pajamas, and lay down on her bed.
