Chapter 391: Chapter 391: Riding Together

The high-speed rail station. A familiar name, a place that could take you anywhere you wanted to go.

But it was the apocalypse. Could a high-speed rail line actually still be running?

If anyone else had claimed such a thing, they would have scoffed. But if Boss Hart was the one saying it...

They believed it without a second thought and were even eager to try it right away.

It couldn’t be helped. She had created too many miracles.

As they were discussing whether the structure was even usable, they saw someone emerge from the exit.

Just as they were wondering who could be so capable, someone with sharp eyes recognized the person.

"That’s Boss Hart!"

"For real?"

"What? Is Boss Hart coming back?"

"What?! Is Boss Hart coming back to sell scratch-offs?!"

"I heard she’s opened a lot of new shops. If Boss Hart brings them all here... hehe! That would be awesome!"

"She doesn’t really look like she’s here to sell scratch-offs, though?"

While they were talking, Boss Hart had already walked out of the exit and was gazing toward Central Command in the distance.

Ignoring the group of people nearby, she said to Roman Rowe, "Should we go check out Central Command, or just head straight back?"

Roman Rowe wasn’t fond of Central Command. He felt there was too much scheming and deception, and everyone was far too cunning.

Hearing Boss Hart’s question, he naturally replied, "Let’s just go back. There’s nothing interesting here."

"True," Lily Hart agreed. The two of them went back to the ticket hall to buy their return tickets.

Their brief stop, however, caused a huge commotion in Central Command.

Rumors were already spreading that Boss Hart was coming back, complete with front- and side-view photos of the two of them.

In the corner of the photos, a small section of Central Command’s perimeter wall was indeed visible.

There was also a head-on shot of the high-speed rail station. The information was incredibly detailed; someone had even compiled a list of Lily Hart’s existing shops, claiming they would all be coming over.

When the residents of Central Command heard the news, they were ecstatic. The Crystal Cores they had been saving for so long would finally have a use!

When Elder Shaw heard about it, he was nearly overcome with excitement.

But upon calming down and thinking it over, he realized that if Lily Hart were truly coming, she would have definitely notified them in advance.

’But you can really see Central Command in those photos.’

’And this high-speed rail station... she built it this quickly? We haven’t even had the regular meeting, and the funds haven’t been transferred yet.’

’She works so fast.’ Elder Shaw began to worry. ’Will we still get our share of the profits?’

’So, is Lily Hart coming to Central Command or not?!’

Elder Shaw wasn’t the only one pondering this question. The other key leaders, the heads of various departments, the residents of Central Command, and even The Mysterious Clan were all wondering the same thing.

Although Lily Hart had left, The Mysterious Clan had not managed to reclaim control of Central Command.

This was because Lily Hart had gone straight to the source, approaching many Base Commanders directly to offer supplies and efficiently circulating the online supermarket’s mini-program.

Now, fifty percent of the bases—any that had Light Brains—were using it.

As for the other bases, they were either too remote and cut off from information, or they were backed by The Mysterious Clan, which strictly forbade them from using her services.

Regardless, The Mysterious Clan’s status was declining day by day.

Lily Hart paid no mind to their thoughts and bought her return ticket.

She boarded the high-speed train back. By the time she arrived at Kenseng Base a little after five, her butt was sore from sitting so long.

After leaving the station, Lily Hart once again climbed onto Roman Rowe’s motorcycle.

She even made a special request: "Let’s do a couple of laps. I need to feel the wind to wake myself up. I almost fell asleep on the train."

Roman Rowe received his orders, twisted the throttle hard, and the motorcycle shot forward like a cannonball.

The speed was immense, but the ride was remarkably stable.

This time, Lily Hart was prepared. She wrapped her arms directly around his lean waist. ’Mom doesn’t have to worry about me getting thrown off anymore.’

The wind was so strong Lily Hart could barely open her eyes, so she simply buried her head against his shoulder.

Using his broad shoulders as a windbreak. Roman Rowe saw this in his rearview mirror.

He felt as if a fluffy tail had just tickled his heart, leaving a persistent itch.

With her head buried, all he could see was a small, fluffy, black mound that was incredibly cute.

Her hands were gripping his waist tightly. For some reason, Roman Rowe really liked it; it gave him a sense of security.

Roman Rowe slowed down, wanting to spend more time with her.

’Once we get back to the RV, Frost Shaw will stick to Boss Hart like glue!’

’Hmph! Just looking at him is annoying! All he knows is how to hang on Boss Hart!’

Sensing the wind die down and the speed decrease, Lily Hart slowly lifted her head, wriggled forward, and rested her chin on his shoulder.

She closed her eyes, quietly enjoying the gentler, softer breeze.

Roman Rowe’s heart felt incredibly soft, like a piece of yam boiled until tender—so soft you could pierce it with a poke, revealing a powdery, defenseless interior. All that remained was a sweet tenderness.

Roman Rowe held his position, barely daring to move, letting her hold him and lean against him.

’Her entire weight is resting on me.’ His heart swelled with satisfaction and comfort.

’I wish it could stay like this forever.’

The wind grew fainter and fainter until it seemed to stop. Lily Hart opened her eyes.

She saw Roman Rowe riding as if on a slow-motion tour, going so incredibly, incredibly slow that he was even using his feet to help balance.

Roman Rowe had been watching Lily Hart through the rearview mirror. Seeing her eyes open, he asked, "Want to do another lap?"

"No more laps, let’s go back." Lily Hart’s head was still on his shoulder, and too lazy to lift it, she just rolled it against him as she shook her head.

Her head wasn’t heavy, and the rolling motion sent a light, tingling sensation through him. Roman Rowe found that he quite liked her touch.

Still held in her embrace, he started the motorcycle, skillfully made a turn, and headed for the lottery shop.

Once they were moving, Lily Hart closed her eyes again, feeling the wind whistling past her ears.

Before she knew it, her head was resting on Roman Rowe’s shoulder again, fitting perfectly.

Her cheek pressed against his exposed skin, and he almost jolted and slammed on the brakes.

’Her face is so warm and soft.’ He suddenly felt that his usual showers had left his skin too rough; he was afraid of scratching her.

’What do I do? I don’t want to go back anymore.’

But no matter how much he didn’t want it to end, they arrived. Sensing the motorcycle stop, Lily Hart opened her eyes, sat up straight, and pulled away from him.

She waited for Roman Rowe to put down the kickstand before taking his hand to dismount.

After that little ride, it was already six o’clock. Dinnertime again!

This scene was witnessed by the several people inside the RV. Setting aside their own hidden thoughts, the expression on each of their faces was quite a sight.

Frost Shaw’s gaze was somewhat gloomy, staring intently at the pair’s small interactions, wishing he could burn a hole through Roman Rowe’s hand with his eyes.

Leo Colby, on the other hand, sat with his legs crossed, looking from Roman Rowe to Frost Shaw and shaking his head to himself.

Owen Warren had eyes for no one else. The moment Lily Hart appeared, his gaze locked onto her, as scorching as ever.

Seth and Stan Sterling... were busy in the kitchen. Frost Shaw was supposed to be with them, but he had unconsciously come out when he heard the motorcycle’s roar.

As the two of them boarded the RV one after the other, they were met by three very different gazes.

Lily Hart chose to ignore them all. Before sitting down, she patted her butt, feeling like it had been sat into oblivion.

Roman Rowe had already put the motorcycle away. He sat down next to Lily Hart, his expression radiant, completely oblivious to their stares.
