Apocalypse: I'm Bound to a Mobile Lottery Shop
Chapter 380: Close Your Eyes
Chapter 380: Chapter 380: Close Your Eyes
’What in the world? Why is no one around today? Do I have to hunt everyone down individually?’
Easton pointed upstairs. "He’s up there fixing a lightbulb," he said honestly, then went back to resting his chin on his hand.
Lily Hart reflexively started up the stairs. After a couple of steps, she turned back to look at Easton, studying his expression.
’This guy is hiding something.’
’Whatever. I’ll go find Frost Shaw first.’
When Lily Hart reached the second floor of the convenience store, she immediately spotted Frost Shaw fixing a lightbulb in the hallway.
He was sitting on a stepladder, his head tilted back, with a screwdriver in one hand as he worked on the lightbulb with the other.
Looking up from the floor, Lily Hart noticed that the T-shirt he wore underneath his jacket wasn’t tucked into his pants.
Since his jacket was unzipped and both his arms were raised, well... she could see his abs.
’Hmm, they look even better from down here...’
’A different angle, like a rolling mountain range. He was seriously sculpted.’
She crossed her arms, tilted her head back, and continued to watch. Frost Shaw was focused on changing the lightbulb, completely unaware of her blatant stare.
Halfway through, just as Frost Shaw was about to stretch his neck, he glanced down and saw Lily Hart.
Meeting her slightly shameless, appraising gaze, he felt a strange sense of unease. He froze and lowered his hands.
He reflexively tugged at his clothes and ran a hand through his hair, tidying himself up.
"Lily Hart..." he said, looking down at her from his perch. Then he noticed the bags in her hand.
Lily Hart snapped out of it, took two deep breaths, and brandished the two large bags of pastries. "Want some?"
Frost Shaw’s face lit up at the offer, and he instinctively started to get down from the stepladder.
"Finish up first. I’ll wait," Lily Hart said, stopping him. ’You have to finish what you start,’ she thought.
"Oh, okay." Frost Shaw immediately sat back down and sped up his work on the lightbulb.
It should have been a simple task, but the thought of her watching him made him strangely flustered.
A little flustered, Frost Shaw finished with the lightbulb and scrambled down the stepladder. He hastily gathered his tools, then casually wiped his dirty hands on his clothes.
Lily Hart chuckled. "The convenience store’s lightbulbs can burn out?"
"I was wondering that myself." Frost Shaw scratched his head, then remembered his hands were a bit dirty and quickly shoved them into his pockets.
Lily Hart rummaged through a bag, pulled out a strawberry tart, and held it out to him. "It’s new. Have a taste."
"Great, I’ll try it right now! It looks delicious," Frost Shaw said, pleasantly surprised.
Just as Frost Shaw was about to take the tart, Lily Hart pulled it back. "Why don’t you go wash your hands first? I’ll wait for you on the balcony."
’Does this mean she wants to eat with me?’
Beaming, Frost Shaw headed to the bathroom to wash his hands, moving faster than ever. Lily Hart carried the bags to the balcony.
Frost Shaw had done a nice job decorating the place. There was a small wooden table, little wooden chairs, and a few green plants. It was a relaxing spot, perfect for sitting down with a cup of tea.
Lily Hart placed the two large bags of pastries on the table. After these few rounds of deliveries, they were much lighter.
After washing his hands, Frost Shaw didn’t even bother to dry them, running over gleefully.
Arriving on the balcony, Frost Shaw saw Lily Hart sitting on a small wooden chair, her hands resting on her knees, gazing into the distance.
Her posture was strangely proper. Frost Shaw sat down on the other small wooden chair, a small, round wooden table between them.
Frost Shaw rummaged through a bag, found the cream puffs Lily Hart loved, opened the container, and pushed the whole box towards her. "Go on, eat. Didn’t you say they’re best when they’re fresh?"
Lily Hart nodded. "It’s not too late." She picked one up and offered it to him. "You have one, too."
Frost Shaw didn’t know if it was his brain or his heart that short-circuited, but he was possessed by some strange impulse. He lifted himself from his seat to take the pastry with his mouth, only realizing what he’d done after it was already there.
The tips of his ears bright red, he sat back down on the small wooden chair, subconsciously touching his earlobe and stammering, "I, I thought..."
He started to explain, but then he met her gaze, and his brain short-circuited again. He grabbed a cream puff and held it right to Lily Hart’s lips. "Ah..."
Lily Hart felt a sense of déjà vu, but she still opened her mouth to take it. The cream puff was a little big, and the tip of her tongue accidentally brushed against Frost Shaw’s fingertips.
Frost Shaw snatched his hand back as if he’d been burned, covering the finger with his other hand. He gave a restrained smile. "You eat, too."
’It felt like his fingertip was on fire...’
"We’ll both eat." Lily Hart seemed to notice something but didn’t dwell on it, continuing to pull treats from the bags.
She kept going until the small, round wooden table was piled high. Seeing this, Frost Shaw couldn’t help but press his lips together to hide a smile. He watched the bags slowly empty but didn’t stop her.
’She must have come from the other stores, so she’s already given away a lot. But for some reason, I’m confident that I definitely received the most.’
Just thinking about it made Frost Shaw’s smile grow wider.
You can’t eat too many sweets, or you’ll get sick of them. And as it happened, Lily Hart had eaten a lot today.
So she didn’t eat, just kept insisting that Frost Shaw have more.
At first, Frost Shaw didn’t notice, lost in the joy of Lily Hart telling him to eat more.
After eating two cream puffs in a row, Frost Shaw noticed she was just staring off into the distance, as if looking at the scenery.
With a cream puff still in his mouth, Frost Shaw stared, mesmerized. Her profile was so beautiful, with its softly rounded nose and long, curled lashes.
And those small, rosy lips, so perfectly shaped. Even at rest, the corners of her mouth curved up just right.
’Huh? Is that a little bit of cream on the corner of her mouth?’
Frost Shaw immediately searched his clothes for a tissue but couldn’t find one. He hesitated for a moment, then called out, "Lily Hart."
She turned her head, dazed, and responded with a confused, "Huh?" Just then, she saw Frost Shaw suddenly stand up and reach for her. A cool sensation spread across the corner of her lips.
Lily Hart stared at him, dazed. His face was just inches away, his expression earnest and devout as he wiped her mouth with his thumb.
’He really was the first man I fell for in the apocalypse. Even after all this time, I’m still not tired of looking at him. In fact, he’s only gotten more handsome.’
Lily Hart enjoyed his little act of service, intently studying his face until he started to get embarrassed under her stare.
Their eyes met. Frost Shaw pulled back his hand and fidgeted awkwardly for a moment. Just as he was about to sit back down,
Lily Hart grabbed him by the collar, pulling him toward her. Frost Shaw stumbled forward, his heart starting to pound furiously in his chest.
’What... what does she want to do?’
The thought flashed through Frost Shaw’s mind. His body was completely frozen; he didn’t dare resist at all.
Their heads were extremely close, only a fist’s distance apart.
Frost Shaw could see her distinct, curled eyelashes. If his heart weren’t beating so fast, he could have counted every single one.
A small smile played on Lily Hart’s lips as she spoke slowly, "Close your eyes."
Frost Shaw didn’t even dare to breathe. He just followed her command and obediently closed his eyes.
The moment he closed his eyes, his other senses became sharper. He could hear the noisy chatter of the customers outside.
He could feel her breath drawing closer, and then her soft, warm lips pressed against his—a fleeting touch.
Frost Shaw didn’t dare open his eyes, didn’t dare breathe. His heart was racing, feeling like it would leap out of his throat. He clenched his hands into tight fists.
Lily Hart released his collar. Recalling the sensation, she thought, ’Hmm, not bad at all~’
