Chapter 277: Chapter 236: The Thirteen Thieves’ Challenge, Will Tang Wen Lose Face?

Her fair feet were exquisitely shaped.

Tang Wen summoned the last of his willpower, resisting the urge to grab and toy with them, and asked, "How many people have you entertained?"

The female Steward didn’t dare to lie. "Th-there have been hundreds."

SPLASH!

It was as if a basin of cold water had been dumped over his head.

His hand, which had been reaching out and was just about to touch her skin, snapped back as if he’d been electrocuted.

"How could there be so many!" Tang Wen’s voice was laced with an anger he hadn’t even realized was there.

The female Steward dropped to her knees with a THUD. "I-it was the Eldest Young Master," she said frantically. "He brought guests and made us entertain them. In the beginning, this place didn’t serve outsiders. But later... perhaps the Eldest Young Master got bored of being alone, so... so..."

Ordinary thrills were no longer enough for Zhao Zhe.

He became increasingly depraved, straying further and further down that path.

Tang Wen took a deep breath. Looking at the terrified women before him, he couldn’t help but close his eyes.

’How could he describe this feeling?’

’It was like someone spending their life savings to bring home a used car they thought was in great condition.’

’Even worse, it hadn’t just had one previous owner.’

’And every damn one of them had a spare key.’

’A smart key, at that. All it took was a single word, and the car you paid a ridiculous premium for—despite it having seventeen previous owners—would drive itself right out the door, letting all the former owners enjoy the thrill of reckless driving, consequences be damned!’

’And, of course, you were the one stuck with the maintenance bill.’

As he thought about it, Tang Wen’s feeling of having been utterly cheated grew more intense.

’He’d thought he was getting a stable of used mounts today.’

’They might be used, but training mounts still took a great deal of time.’

’And since they were free, he wasn’t going to be picky.’

’He just wanted to ride them as he pleased, to his heart’s content.’

’Who could have imagined they weren’t just used mounts, but public fucking property, every single one of them with a history of wild debauchery.’

’Now they were nothing but wilted flowers, all technique and no feeling.’

It triggered a sense of moral revulsion he never knew he had.

’That bastard Zhao Zhe, ruining my mood!’

He stormed out the door and stomped up to the fifth floor. Suddenly, Tang Wen remembered something.

He remembered a story from his past life, after a major crackdown on vice.

The entertainment industry in a certain southern city was hit hard.

Less than three months later, his roommate’s older cousin had excitedly called the roommate with some news. Their village belle, the girl he’d worshipped since they were teens, had suddenly returned and gone on a blind date with him.

What’s more, she seemed to like him.

After they got married, his new wife, the "goddess," couldn’t get pregnant. It was only then that the cousin slowly found out that his goddess had been so "dedicated" to her work back in the day that her womb had seen too much death. She couldn’t conceive anymore.

If it hadn’t been for that, a guy like him would’ve never had a shot with her.

The fifth floor had a living room, dining room, bedroom, and bathroom.

The bathroom even featured a massive, ten-meter-square sunken bath.

Tang Wen was in a foul mood, disgusted by all these things Zhao Zhe had used.

His mood only improved slightly when he saw ten large chests in the bedroom, overflowing with Gold and jewels.

"Get rid of all those women downstairs. Try to find them a decent place to go."

Out of sight, out of mind.

"Your decision is wise, my lord! I’ll see to it today!" The female Steward, Shu Mei, beamed with joy.

A great weight was lifted from Liang Yu’s heart as well. "I was afraid you were actually going to spend a month in this tower."

"A month is a bit much. Two days on each floor, tops." Tang Wen wrapped his arm around Liang Yu’s slender waist, his palm circling around to rest on her stomach.

Her abs were firm and defined, without a hint of fat.

Even through the thin fabric of her clothes, he could feel their surprising firmness.

Liang Yu swayed her slender waist and smiled. "You probably don’t know this, but someone started a betting pool on you. They’re betting you’ll get so hooked on this place you won’t come down for at least a month."

"Hm?!"

His arm tightened, and the sudden pressure made Liang Yu’s expression freeze.

Tang Wen’s eyes bored into her. "Why didn’t you tell me sooner?"

"Uh..."

Liang Yu quickly explained, "Bets like this are a dime a dozen within the sect. And it wasn’t going to harm you in any way, plus you’re so busy... so we just treated it like a joke."

Tang Wen’s expression eased a little.

The female Steward added, "Besides, we were actually willing to let you relax for a while. When you go into seclusion for your Martial Arts Training, you push yourself so hard you pass out. It’s nuts!"

Seeing that he was open to discussion, Liang Yu nodded vigorously. "Yes, my lord! We’re always worried something will happen to you during your training."

The two women voiced their concerns.

They were about to get busy themselves, and they both felt that letting him go into seclusion—with no one around to remind him to eat or rest—was a worse option than just letting him indulge himself here at Jile Tower.

"My lord, why don’t you... enjoy yourself for a few days before you send the women downstairs away?"

Women are fickle.

A moment ago, they were afraid Tang Wen would become lost in sensual pleasures. Now that they saw he had no intention of doing so, they were afraid he would get lost in his training seclusion instead.

Their worries weren’t unfounded.

He thought for a moment and decided to bring the Child-faced Lady Li Zi over to free up Liang Yu.

She had been a Sect Leader, after all. Handling some business matters should be no problem for her.

"I’ll find someone to hold down the fort and manage the businesses. When I go into seclusion for my training, Liang Yu is coming with me." Tang Wen’s tone was final.

The female Steward’s pretty face fell. "Then I’m not sending the women away!" she said, pouting. "You were clearly tempted, so I’ll just call them all up right now!"

Tang Wen grabbed her wrist and snorted. "You dare get angry with me? I’m in a foul mood today!"

With that, he grabbed a handful of her long, black hair.

Tang Wen’s temper was a raging fire, and once lit, it burned endlessly.

By the time the woman was slick with sweat and on the verge of collapse, the sky had long since gone dark.

Feeling refreshed and invigorated, Tang Wen got dressed. He turned to the woman, who was still unable to get up, and gave her an instruction:

"Since everyone is betting I’ll spend a month in Jile Tower, let’s not disappoint them. I’ll sneak out in a bit. Don’t be in a rush to send those women away. We can use them as rewards for deserving subordinates in the future."

’A rational use of resources,’ he figured.
