Apocalypse: Grinding EXP through Hunting

Chapter 263: Chapter 230: Inside the Secret Chamber, Meeting on a Narrow Path
Its body temperature had spiked so high that the bird was practically cooked, its feathers scorched clean off.
The metamorphosis had officially begun.
Tang Wen quickly reassured it, "They’ll grow back later."
The Hummingbird stared blankly at its lost feathers. It was a rather comical scene.
But he was in Zhao Zhe’s secret chamber, after all, so he couldn’t afford to waste time. He released the next Hummingbird.
A single Purple Pearl Honey, one drop of Blood Marrow.
After a few more minutes of channeling, another bald bird was born.
’But if he had to strengthen a hundred Hummingbirds like this, wouldn’t he be stuck in this secret chamber all night?’
He didn’t have that kind of time.
After a moment’s thought, he took out two Hummingbirds at once and began the enhancement process.
The bodily structures of the Hummingbirds were basically identical.
Tang Wen didn’t need to truly split his focus.
How to describe it?
Simultaneously manipulating two streams of Spiritual Power to channel energy for two Hummingbirds felt something like an elementary schooler holding two pens at once to write out their vocabulary homework.
As long as he kept the right distance between them, the results wouldn’t be too sloppy, and his efficiency instantly doubled.
After working on a few groups of two,
Tang Wen upped the intensity, channeling for four at once.
His Spiritual Power was more than strong enough, after all.
Once he got the hang of four, he moved on to eight.
He stopped there and didn’t add any more.
Two hours passed.
The Extraordinary Blood Marrow was completely used up.
There was still plenty of Purple Pearl Honey left.
He looked at the flock of listless little bald birds lying in the cage.
He took them out one by one and fed each another two pieces of Purple Pearl Honey.
Once the honey was in their bellies, the Hummingbirds fell into a state resembling drunkenness.
Flapping their featherless wings, they stumbled about before falling asleep in the cage.
With that, Tang Wen finally breathed a sigh of relief.
He still had a large quantity of Purple Pearl Honey. Curious, he picked one up and popped it into his mouth. The moment it touched his tongue, an explosion of sweetness erupted.
His energy and stamina began to recover rapidly.
’Hmm, it seems to repair minor injuries as well.’
Tang Wen closed his eyes, carefully sensing the effects of the Purple Pearl Honey.
However, he had no injuries that needed repairing.
With his physique, he could recover quickly from any wound.
The honey exuded a sweet aroma. The air circulation in the secret chamber was poor, and the faint smell of roasted meat still lingered.
Glancing around, Tang Wen found a white wooden case of a suitable size.
The case was very heavy.
He opened it to find it filled with glittering gold.
Without a moment’s hesitation, Tang Wen dumped out the gold bars, carefully wrapped the Purple Pearl Honey in gauze, and placed it inside the case.
There was plenty of Gold, jewelry, and expensive porcelain in the room.
But there was no need to take any of it.
’Sooner or later, this place—the secret chamber and its mistress included—was going to take the Tang name.’
With the case in one hand and the birdcage in the other, Tang Wen prepared to leave.
Suddenly, he snapped his head toward a passageway within the secret chamber.
From that direction, he heard the faint sound of footsteps.
’Someone’s coming through the secret passage?’
What shocked him was that by the time he heard the footsteps, the person was already extremely close.
No more than ten steps away.
For someone to get within ten steps of him before he noticed, given his current level of power, it could only mean one thing!
The newcomer was a Sixth Grade.
And a Senior Sixth Grade at that.
’It’s too late to leave.’
’This is a sealed chamber; there’s no wind.’
’Moving quickly while in a state of Concealment would still stir a faint breeze.’
’An ordinary person wouldn’t notice.’
’Even an Extraordinary might not pick up on it.’
’But a Sixth-Grade Powerhouse would definitely sense that something was off.’
’Then, a single careless area-of-effect attack from them would be enough to break my Invisibility.’
’I’m not afraid of a fight.’
’But I haven’t disguised myself.’
’The newcomer would very likely recognize me.’
He drew a sharp breath.
’Getting a reputation for breaking into my sister-in-law’s bedroom is a small matter.’
’But letting my sworn brother become suspicious of me... that would be a disaster!’
’How could I make my move then?’
With not a second to spare, he did two things.
He wrapped the chamber exit in his Power of Concealment and used his Spiritual Power to yank the door open.
The underground chamber was illuminated by a light crystal, and its glow cast shadows in the corners of the room.
Tang Wen activated his Power of Concealment and hid in one of those shadows.
CREAK!
The iron door to the chamber was pushed open from the outside.
Tang Wen grimaced. ’Zhao Zhe really is an idiot. Who designs a secret chamber under their master bedroom that can be opened from the outside?’
’What was he thinking?’
’Was he trying to make it easier for his wife to have an affair?’
STEP!
A bare foot stepped into the secret chamber.
Tang Wen lowered his head slightly, avoiding a direct gaze that might alert the newcomer.
