Apocalypse: Goddess Catalog, Starting With Twin Sisters!
Chapter 13: Counter-Kill
Chapter 13: Chapter 13: Counter-Kill
Faced with Brother Hu and his men swinging their knives and clubs at him!
Mengde wasn’t the least bit flustered.
The stairwell was narrow, only wide enough for two people at most.
He would only have to face the attacks of two people at a time.
And he had the high ground.
Besides, his physical fitness had long since reached the peak of human potential—the level of a Superpower User.
He was no longer someone these ordinary people could even compare to.
Most importantly, he had his greatest trump card: Star Night Walker!
It granted him an enhancement at night.
Brother Hu and his men needed flashlights just to see him, but in his eyes, their every move was as clear as day.
So, for Mengde, killing them was effortless.
One slash, one head.
One slash, another thug down.
Mengde hacked and slashed while the thugs screamed and died.
Amidst a flurry of flashing blades and swinging clubs, Brother Hu’s men fell, row after row.
It didn’t matter if they were vicious desperados or former soldiers who had become security guards.
None could escape his blade.
The only one who put up any resistance was Brother Hu.
Before he’d left the military, he was supposedly the ace soldier of some special unit.
His skills were impressive.
The fact that Brother Dao had been able to run rampant in this neighborhood for so many years unscathed was at least half thanks to him.
But before Mengde, he was powerless. A single strike, and the terrifying force sent the knife flying from his hand.
"Dammit!"
’This kid is unbelievably strong! Even an ace soldier like me can’t handle him.’
’This is bad! This guy’s too tough! I have to get out of here!’
He felt nothing as he watched his men die horribly one after another.
’If they die, they die. As long as I’m okay, that’s all that matters!’
’It’s the apocalypse, after all. There’s a shortage of everything except people.’
’Why would I be worried about finding more men?’
So he ignored the men still charging forward—they could buy him some time—and scrambled downstairs, practically tumbling over himself to get away.
Up at the top of the stairs, Mengde noticed this and couldn’t help but sneer.
"Heh, you think you can just run away after failing a sneak attack on me?"
After finishing off the last man with a single slash, the tenth-floor landing was littered with the bodies of Brother Hu’s men.
Seeing that Brother Hu had already reached the eighth floor, Mengde took a few large strides and leaped down from the landing, landing right in front of him.
Brother Hu was startled by Mengde’s sudden appearance.
He instinctively backed away, muttering nonstop.
"You... you can’t kill me... If you kill me... my brother won’t let you get away with it..."
"My brother... he has a gun... Aaargh..."
He’d hoped to intimidate Mengde by mentioning his brother, but all he got in return was a nonchalant reply...
"Oh, I know."
Mengde understood the principle that villains die from talking too much.
Without wasting any more words, Mengde sent Brother Hu to meet Yama with a single slash of his blade.
But it wasn’t over...
’There’s still one more!’
On the second floor, Liu Junjie was exhausted, practically crawling on all fours, but he didn’t dare to stop for even a second.
The moment he saw Mengde slaughtering everyone, he knew things had gone south and immediately bolted.
’Dammit! What kind of super-drug did Mengde take?!’
’How did he get so strong! All those guys were no match for him!’
’This is bad, I have to report to Brother Dao immediately!’
Just as he was about to reach the entrance of Building 5, he saw a figure. It looked like they had been waiting for him for a while.
Blood was slowly dripping from a Tang Blade...
THUD!
With a thud, Liu Junjie dropped to his knees.
"Mengde, I..."
Liu Junjie wanted to beg for mercy, but Mengde gave him no chance to speak.
He had chased him down to eliminate any future threats.
He didn’t want someone sneaking up on him while he was... busy at night.
With a single slash, he finished Liu Junjie.
And with that...
All twenty-something people who had come tonight were now dead at Mengde’s hands.

Inside Apartment 1501, Building 5.
Chen Jiayao sat nervously on the sofa. On the table lay a fruit knife.
She still didn’t know what the outcome was.
She hadn’t woken her sister, either, because Mengde had told her to trust him.
Besides, waking her sister wouldn’t have helped.
It would only give them one more person to worry about.
’That being the case, it’s better if she doesn’t know.’
Just as she was pacing back and forth anxiously, a figure appeared at the window.
Her eyes immediately lit up.
That’s right—it was Mengde.
Having climbed down from the window before, climbing back up was second nature to him.
With a small cry, Yaoyao excitedly threw herself at Mengde.
Thankfully, Mengde braced himself, or else the girl would have knocked him over.
She was just so overjoyed to see Mengde return safely.
So much so that she practically hung her entire body on him.
Like a little koala.
She seemed so petite in his broad embrace.
Perhaps because she had been on edge for so long, the moment she saw Mengde, tears began to stream down her face.
It was as if she was releasing all the worry and fear she had just been holding in.
While Mengde was gone, she had imagined all sorts of terrible scenarios.
She had even been prepared to die.
But thank God, Mengde had returned safely.
Mengde gently patted the girl’s back.
He stroked her hair, gently comforting her.
He knew she had never experienced anything like this before. She must have been terrified.
He sat on the sofa, holding her and letting her vent her emotions.
After a while, she slowly calmed down, her emotions finally stabilizing.
Seeing the sweet campus belle crying in front of him, Mengde couldn’t resist playfully flicking her cute, pert nose.
"You’re a big girl now, still crying at the drop of a hat!"
He saw the fruit knife on the table and had a pretty good idea of what she’d been thinking.
He also wanted to tease the girl a bit to distract her.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t get a wink of sleep tonight.
"Hmph! I’ll cry if I want to!"
"You’re not allowed to laugh at me!"
"Or else Yaoyao won’t talk to you anymore!"
She even pouted petulantly. Before the apocalypse, who would ever have imagined the campus belle acting like this?
Her adorable look, combined with her completely non-threatening words, made Mengde laugh out loud.
"Hmph, you’re still laughing at me!"
As if in "retaliation," the girl began to squirm and fuss in his lap.
However, she didn’t notice that her movements had caused one of her spaghetti straps to slip down...
"Yaoyao, I..."
Mengde didn’t need to say another word. Yaoyao’s face was already burning hot...
Because it had happened once before, she immediately understood what Mengde was feeling...
But unlike last time, she had no intention of stopping him. She just closed her eyes slightly...
’Is this my chance?’
Mengde rolled over, and then...
