Apocalypse Descends: I Win Effortlessly by Turning Trash into Treasure
Chapter 328: Setting Sights on Players from Other Planets
Perry Yates had recently completed her deal with Reina Quinn. It was foreseeable that in the future, Drakonia would continuously open up dungeons for the public to explore.
Perry Yates even predicted that professions related to dungeon exploration would become mainstream, and a whole industry might even emerge from it.
These Talent Cards were a form of insurance for players wanting to enter dungeons, giving them the means to handle the dangers.
After all, while a stable, four-star Concrete dungeon was generally safe to enter, it wasn’t an absolute guarantee. Besides, who said the only dangers inside a dungeon came *from* the dungeon?
After setting up the tavern, Perry Yates didn’t plan on doing any advertising. Her every word and action were already being watched by many people. Even if she did nothing, others would do the promoting for her.
Sure enough, just after she stocked the newly acquired Talent Cards, they were cleared out in the blink of an eye. And the person who cleared them out was…
Perry Yates turned to look at Sylas Sawyer, who was not far away. He was currently putting the cards he had just bought into his Space Backpack.
After stowing away the Talent Cards, Sylas Sawyer looked at Perry Yates and asked, “Boss, why aren’t there any A-rank Talent Cards?”
Hearing this, Perry Yates rolled her eyes. “There are only three A-rank Talent Cards per month, and they’re sold by auction,” she said. “Anyone can bid over the course of the month. After the month is up, the highest bidder takes the cards.”
After speaking, Perry Yates stocked the three A-rank Talent Cards and activated the auction mode.
As soon as she finished the setup, the sound of a car screeching to a halt came from outside, followed by a group of people in clearly unusual attire rushing in.
This group of latecomers looked at the empty shelves, their eyes filled with disappointment and anger.
However, mindful of where they were, they didn’t show it.
Just then, someone noticed the three cards at the very top, which were emitting a faint golden glow.
Seeing that there were still cards left, their faces instantly lit up.
They didn’t mind one bit that these three Talent Cards could only be obtained through auction. After all, for people of their status, money was the one thing they didn’t lack.
Soon, the price of those three Talent Cards soared to an incredible level.
Perry Yates didn’t stay there for long. The shop was still managed by the dolls.
Noticing that the number of dolls at her disposal was dwindling, Perry Yates sat in a corner on the first floor of The Card Tavern. She fiddled with the Talent Card she had brought back from the game, pondering who to give it to.
‘If I give it to a player, I have to find someone who will absolutely never betray me. The same goes for an ordinary person.’
‘Honestly, I don’t like either of those options.’
Perry Yates had a very strong need for control; she couldn’t stand the thought of something happening that was outside her grasp.
For her, it was either don’t touch it at all or, once she did, she had to have total control.
And right now, giving a clearly powerful Talent to someone else introduced too many variables.
After a moment of thought, she rejected the idea.
Just then, not far from Perry Yates, a person suddenly shot up from their seat and shouted, “I did it! I finally did it!”
Her voice instantly drew the attention of countless people.
Realizing her behavior was a bit inappropriate, the woman blushed, quickly sat back down, and activated both the soundproof and anti-peeking modes.
Perry Yates, who had witnessed the whole thing, recognized the woman. She was the one who had provided her with the Invisibility and Instant Teleportation cards in the past.
They had an agreement: as long as the woman provided Perry with a certain number of cards each month, she could then trade for the cards she wanted.
Perry Yates had almost forgotten about her, as she was usually very busy.
Though she’d nearly forgotten her, she had to admit the woman’s cards were very popular here. And while it was never officially acknowledged, the woman was practically an employee of The Card Tavern.
Just then, a flash of inspiration struck her, and she thought of a great idea.
Perry Yates got up and went to her workshop on the fifth floor. From a remote corner where she stored cards, she took out a dusty-looking box secured with a combination lock.
After entering the code and opening the lock, she found a stack of Character Cards inside the box.
Because the butler had previously shown a strong aversion to Character Cards, she had completely stored them away after obtaining them.
Among these Character Cards were an assassin, a serial killer, a fussy nobleman, a survivor who brought disaster to others, a chef, and a short-tempered Hunter, to name a few.
After looking through the cards one by one, Perry Yates’s gaze landed on a particular one.
The card depicted a girl in a Lolita dress with curly golden hair. She radiated an air of nobility and gentleness.
[Card Name: Vivian
Card Level: Three-Star
Card Ability: The high-born Vivian has a gentle and kind temperament. She has mastered perfect noble etiquette and possesses all the skills befitting a young aristocratic lady—she is gentle, patient, kind, and dexterous.
No one dislikes Miss Vivian]
‘She looks like a character with the constitution of an Enchanting Demon.’
Perry Yates took this card out, then returned the rest to their original place.
She took the card over to the Card Furnace, which had just finished a fusion cycle.
She tossed the Vivian card and the Talent Card into the Card Furnace. Soon, the furnace began to operate.
Perry Yates didn’t stay idle while waiting. She took out the invitation, which had already become a five-star card.
Reina Quinn’s appearance had given her an idea. Perhaps she could try contacting the Croupiers on other planets that had already entered the survival game era and see if she could squeeze some dungeons out of them.
‘After all, it’s a win-win situation no matter how you look at it. They shouldn’t refuse… right?’
Additionally, she wanted to send a letter, or perhaps a key, to other players who had made inquiries, letting them know that their Talents could also be sold for money.
Someone had already tried it. Inside The Card Tavern, you could transfer money to anyone, and the funds would automatically convert into a currency the recipient could use.
After all, the number of players on her Cerulea, No. 68656, would no longer increase. Players were now a non-renewable resource. But there were still many ordinary people, and their numbers were even growing every day.
