Chapter 159 - 111: Ammunition
Chapter 159: Chapter 111: Ammunition
Even though he was prepared for it, Xu Mo still drew a sharp breath at the terrifying destructive power.
He worked the bolt, ejecting a scorching-hot shell casing with a crisp metallic clang. Then, Xu Mo quickly swiveled his scope to another target: a rusted, overturned junker of a car about six hundred meters away.
BANG—!!!
The second shot roared out.
The bullet struck the car’s engine compartment with pinpoint accuracy, instantly tearing a large hole. As it passed through, the round seemed to cause secondary damage to some of the car’s remaining components. A small fireball mixed with black smoke erupted from the breach—it had clearly pierced the fuel tank or what was left of it. The entire heavy chassis of the junk car shuddered violently.
For the third shot, Xu Mo aimed at an exposed section of thick industrial metal pipe, about half a meter in diameter, a thousand meters away.
The bullet struck the metal pipe with a piercing shriek, sending sparks flying. Through the scope, Xu Mo could clearly see that the thick pipe had been punched clean through. The edges of the hole were curled inward, forming a gruesome tear.
Next, Xu Mo found a makeshift barricade, haphazardly piled together from scrap bricks and steel plates.
The bullet sliced through it like a hot knife through butter, penetrating the outer brick wall and the inner steel plate in one go. It blasted a hole straight through the barricade, its destructive power undiminished.
...
Thanks to his sniping experience with the AWM and his superhuman physical control, Xu Mo got the hang of the Barrett incredibly quickly.
He spent the first few shots just getting used to the astonishing recoil. After a dozen or so rounds, he had already mastered the rhythm and breathing techniques needed to anticipate and counteract the recoil’s effect on his aim. His accuracy began to improve rapidly. His subsequent shots all landed in a tight cluster around his intended bullseye, demonstrating an exceptionally high level of control.
After firing another twenty-some rounds and getting a feel for the rifle’s destructive effects on various materials at different distances, Xu Mo stopped.
He now had a feel for the weapon. He had gained a direct and profound understanding of the ballistic properties and destructive power of this "King of Heavy Snipers," and that was enough. Xu Mo was confident that in a real fight, anything that appeared in his scope was as good as dead.
Slowly exhaling a breath tinged with the smell of gunpowder, Xu Mo looked through his scope again, carefully surveying the targets he had ravaged:
The thick concrete wall was structurally compromised. The junk car had been pierced as easily as paper. The thick metal pipe was violently ripped open. The composite barricade had been utterly useless against it.
"This is the power of the Barrett..." Xu Mo muttered to himself, his eyes gleaming sharply. ’This isn’t just a sniper rifle; it’s practically a portable infantry cannon. Its immense kinetic energy and penetration power are enough to pose a serious threat to light armored vehicles, helicopters, and fortified positions.’
’For the zombies, this meant that unless their defenses were on par with the armor of a main battle tank, they stood no chance of withstanding a direct hit from an M2 Armor-Piercing Bullet.’
With this weapon and a plentiful supply of armor-piercing ammunition, Xu Mo felt more confident than ever before. The faint worry and sense of urgency he previously felt about Tier 2 zombies was now replaced by overwhelming self-assurance.
’Whatever you are...’ Xu Mo gently caressed the Barrett’s cold, thick barrel. ’If you dare show your face, I’ll let you have a taste of this ’big boy’.’
The Barrett was finally more than just a decoration.
