Apocalypse: Crossing to Intact World for 60s Daily
Chapter 158 - 111: Ammunition
Chapter 158: Chapter 111: Ammunition
12.7×99mm NATO .50 BMG
’I found them,’ Xu Mo thought with a surge of joy. ’And there’s more than one kind.’
On the shelves before him, different types of .50 BMG ammunition were neatly arranged by category:
M33 Ball: Copper-jacketed lead core, for long-range precision shooting and anti-personnel use.
M8 Armor-Piercing Incendiary (API): Steel core, containing an incendiary agent, with both armor-piercing and incendiary effects.
M20 Armor-Piercing Incendiary Tracer (APIT): Adds a tracer element to the M8 base, aiding in trajectory observation.
M2 Armor-Piercing Bullet (AP): (Hardened steel core), specifically designed to penetrate light armored targets.
M1 Incendiary: Containing a large amount of incendiary agent, primarily used to ignite flammable targets.
"At last!" Xu Mo whispered, suppressing his excitement. His voice was filled with relief and irrepressible joy.
Without the slightest hesitation, Xu Mo took off the empty backpack he had prepared and opened it. His objective was crystal clear: prioritize the M2 Armor-Piercing Bullets for their superior penetration, supplemented by M1 Incendiary and M8 Armor-Piercing Incendiary rounds for their added destructive effects.
As for the most basic M33 Ball rounds, Xu Mo didn’t give them a second glance. In the apocalypse, his targets would likely no longer be ordinary; ultimate penetration and special effects were king.
This .50 BMG ammunition was typically stored in sealed packs of fifty rounds. Xu Mo reached out and swept pack after pack into his backpack.
One pack, two packs, three packs...
Xu Mo specifically chose the M2 Armor-Piercing Bullets and the M1 and M8 special rounds, and the heavy packs quickly filled the bottom of his backpack.
In just over ten seconds, Xu Mo had stuffed more than twenty packs of ammunition into his bag, until it was bulging and couldn’t fit anything else.
At this point, only a little over forty of the sixty seconds of exploration time had passed.
His objective more than accomplished, a satisfied Xu Mo zipped up the backpack, slung it over his shoulders, and turned back toward the "door" he had come through.
Just as he was about to reach the door, the corner of his eye caught sight of neatly stacked high-explosive grenades on a nearby shelf, and he paused for a moment.
’Might as well grab a couple of these while I’m here.’ The thought flashed through his mind, and Xu Mo quickly reached out, grabbing two heavy, egg-shaped high-explosive grenades from an open crate and stuffing them into the large pockets on the sides of his combat suit.
With that done, Xu Mo didn’t linger. He strode out of the Ammunition Storage, his haul complete.
[Countdown has ended~]
The scene before him receded like a tide, and the familiar furnishings of his bedroom came back into focus.
Xu Mo stood in place, the backpack full of ammunition on his back and two powerful "iron pineapples" in his pockets.
Breathing a sigh of relief, Xu Mo unzipped the backpack. Inside, packs of ammunition were stacked to the brim.
Xu Mo began to carefully take stock of his haul. In total, he had brought back thirty-two packs of .50 BMG ammunition. At fifty rounds per pack, that was a whopping sixteen hundred bullets! This quantity was more than enough to sustain him through long periods of high-intensity combat.
After a rough count, Xu Mo broke it down further:
M2 Armor-Piercing Bullets: Twenty-three packs, for a total of 1,150 rounds. This was the absolute mainstay, accounting for over seventy percent of his haul.
M1 Incendiary and M8 Armor-Piercing Incendiary rounds: A combined nine packs, for a total of 450 rounds. These would serve as supplementary ammunition for special situations.
This ratio perfectly matched Xu Mo’s expectations. His primary hypothetical enemies were Level 2 or even Level 3 mutated zombies with absurdly high defense, or certain heavily protected key targets.
Given these needs, maximum penetration was the top priority, making the M2 Armor-Piercing Bullet the undisputed best choice. The incendiary rounds, on the other hand, could be used to deal with hordes of zombies, burn their corpses to prevent further evolution, or handle certain special mutants.
"This is enough." Xu Mo nodded in satisfaction. He stored the ammunition by category, placing the M2 Armor-Piercing Bullets in the most easily accessible spot.
Next, it was time to awaken the slumbering "beast."
Xu Mo opened the gun case and took out the Barrett. The metal was cold to the touch, but this time, it felt completely different.
Before, it had just been a work of art for him to look at. But now, when Xu Mo inserted the first ten-round magazine loaded with M2 Armor-Piercing Bullets into the magazine well with a solid CLICK, he could clearly feel that a soul had been infused into the weapon.
A heavy, heart-pounding destructive power began to flow through the gun’s frame, ready to be unleashed.
Xu Mo moved to a firing port with a clear, wide field of view. He steadily mounted the Barrett on the platform built into the port, its heavy frame providing an unprecedented sense of stability.
He pressed his cheek against the cold stock, and the crosshairs in his scope centered on the distant remnants of an isolated, reinforced concrete load-bearing wall over thirty centimeters thick.
Taking a deep breath to steady his heart rate, Xu Mo’s finger took up the slack on the trigger.
BOOM—!!!
A massive roar erupted within the fortress, far more violent and shocking than the report of an AWM.
Even with his Cowhide Realm physique, Xu Mo clearly felt the immense recoil in his shoulder. However, the force was still within his limits. His powerful core strength kept him firmly planted, not pushing him back even half a step.
Almost simultaneously with the gunshot, the center of the thick concrete wall in his scope exploded, creating a massive crater. Chunks of concrete, as if struck by an invisible giant fist, sprayed violently backward in a radial pattern as dust and smoke filled the air. The bullet had torn through the solid wall with ease, leaving behind a terrifying hole with jagged edges.
