Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging
Chapter 633 - 623: Zombies 18
Before entering the Western Base, Moira Lynch gave Mark Rhodes the bracelet she had crafted, the agreed-upon Awakening Potions, and the medicine capable of purifying Crystal Cores.
She handed him one hundred Awakening Potions, one hundred vials of the Crystal Core-purifying medicine, and the jade bracelet.
Holding the Space Bracelet, Mark Rhodes looked utterly amazed. "You have this kind of ability too!"
In response, Moira Lynch casually replied, "This is nothing. If you want, I can create even more powerful weapons."
Hearing this, Mark Rhodes carefully put the bracelet away and asked, "These weapons won’t be free, will they? What are your terms?"
"Did you have anything valuable here before the apocalypse? You can make a list and trade those things with me.
Also, it’s not just humans who have mutated in your world; plants and animals have too. I’d like to collect some beneficially mutated flora and fauna from you to take back."
Hearing Moira Lynch’s words, Mark Rhodes started to believe that her group had no malicious intent.
After all, if they were truly malicious, with their power, they would likely be an even bigger threat than the zombies.
And the things they wanted in exchange were things they could easily take by force. There was no need for them to negotiate a trade with him at all.
’But what exactly is a beneficial mutation?’
As if sensing his confusion, Moira Lynch explained, "A so-called beneficial mutation is one where an animal or plant mutates in a way that is helpful to humans."
With Moira Lynch’s explanation, Mark Rhodes understood.
Then, his mind went to the Space Bracelet. He asked tentatively, "You said you made the item you just gave me. Did you make it using your Talent?"
"Of course," Moira Lynch nodded.
At these words, Mark Rhodes became instantly excited. If they could also master this technique, wouldn’t that mean...
"Can we learn how to do it?"
"Theoretically, yes. But only Talents of the Spiritual System can learn to craft items, and even then, not all of them will succeed. It all comes down to aptitude.
Besides, you’ve all only just awakened. Your levels are far too low. To learn item crafting, you need to be at least level three."
After following Mark Rhodes into the Western Base, Moira Lynch and her group were led to a house.
The inside of the house was covered in dust. It looked like it hadn’t been lived in for a long time.
Clothes were strewn carelessly on the sofa, suggesting the house still had an owner.
"This is my place. You can stay here for now. Once I submit the items, my superiors will arrange new accommodations for you. And don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone about your origins."
Moira Lynch and the others nodded. As Mark Rhodes’s figure disappeared through the doorway, Kai York finally blurted out, unable to hold back any longer, "Why do you all trust that Mark Rhodes so much? Aren’t you afraid he’ll sell us out?"
Moira Lynch looked at Hugh Finch across from her and said, "I don’t trust Mark Rhodes. I trust Hugh Finch."
At that, all three of them focused their gazes on Hugh Finch.
"Hugh Finch, is there something special about this Mark Rhodes?" It was Shane Rhodes who spoke.
Hearing this, Hugh Finch glanced at the three of them, walked further into the room, found a random place to sit, and said unhurriedly, "The reason I did this is because Mark Rhodes is this world’s SoySauceDrunkard."
When he finished, Moira, Shane, and Kai were stunned for a moment, not immediately understanding what he meant.
After a while, Shane Rhodes was the first to react.
The name SoySauceDrunkard was Moira Lynch’s alias, but in the eyes of everyone on Caelus, that name meant one word: savior.
On Caelus, countless people relied on the "Don’t Miss It" shop to survive.
Even Veridian Prime and all the other planets currently under development had come from SoySauceDrunkard.
Even now, with the situation on Caelus worsening by the day, the people still hadn’t lost their hope of survival.
Seeing that the three of them understood his meaning, Hugh Finch continued, "According to my divination, even without our intervention, Mark Rhodes is the one who will lead this world to end the apocalypse and slay the Corpse Emperor.
He’s practically the favored son of the Heavenly Dao, a person acknowledged by the Cosmic Consciousness itself. So, no matter how you look at it, we won’t lose out by helping him."
Speaking of being acknowledged by the Heavenly Dao, Hugh Finch shot a pointed look at Moira Lynch.
Both were called saviors, yet one was acknowledged by the Heavenly Dao while the other was targeted by the Cosmic Consciousness. Truly, comparisons are brutal.
Moira Lynch glared at the three of them, her expression clearly saying, "What are you looking at?"
Mark Rhodes left and returned quickly, an excited expression on his face. It seemed he had already tested the effects of the two types of potions.
"My father has agreed to your terms. But I need to know, what’s the maximum number of Awakening Potions and Purification Potions you can provide each day?"
After listening, Moira Lynch estimated her internal energy and said, "If I go all out, I can produce a maximum of one thousand Awakening Potions and one thousand Purification Potions per day. However, doing so will completely deplete my energy, and I won’t be able to heal anyone else."
Hearing that Moira Lynch could actually produce one thousand Awakening Potions a day, Mark Rhodes’s eyes lit up instantly.
If all one thousand of those potions were used on the army, their base would gain one thousand new Superpower Users every day.
Calming his excitement, he said, "My father has also agreed to the request you mentioned in the vehicle earlier. As for the beneficially mutated plants you wanted, we have many in our base, but it will take some time to collect them."
Hearing this, Moira Lynch nodded. "You can just discuss these matters with them."
With practiced ease, she handed off the follow-up coordination to Shane Rhodes, Kai York, and Hugh Finch.
"During this time, I’ll try to craft a couple of sample weapons for you to test out. But my energy is limited, so I’m afraid I won’t be able to make many."
Moira Lynch was laying out the harsh reality upfront. If Mark Rhodes was expecting one for every person in the base, he was dreaming.
Mark Rhodes nodded. "Of course, I understand. The weapons aren’t a rush. What we need most right now are the Awakening Potions and Purification Potions. Also, Professor Sutton would like to meet you to discuss matters related to the Purification Potions."
Professor Sutton was the person in charge of researching Purification Potions at the base.
He could still vividly recall Professor Sutton’s excited expression when he had demonstrated the effects of the Awakening and Purification Potions to his father and the professor.
