Ken walked right into the middle of the battlefield. He did not seem to notice the massive, terrifying demon general standing two feet away from him.

Vespera ignored the boy. She pulled her hand back. She prepared to strike Princess Iris.

Ken took another step forward. He placed his cheap shoe directly onto a very smooth, very polished section of the marble floor.

He intentionally twisted his ankle just a tiny fraction of an inch.

Ken let out a massive, comical yelp.

"Whoops!" Ken shouted. His voice cracked with highly exaggerated panic.

Ken stumbled violently. He threw his arms wildly into the air. He lost his balance . He did a spectacular, ridiculous stumble. He looked like a clumsy cartoon character slipping on ice.

He fell forward. He tossed his hands out to catch himself.

The large white plate flipped upside down. The tall crystal glass tipped over.

The hot meatballs flew through the air. They moved in a perfect, arching trajectory. The expensive red wine splashed outward like a dark red waterfall.

General Vespera turned her head. She saw the flying food. She opened her mouth to scream.

SPLAT. SPLAT. SPLAT.

Five hot meatballs slammed directly into General Vespera's pale face. The thick, sticky tomato sauce smeared across her cheeks. The sauce dripped into her glowing red eyes. It covered her nose.

SPLASH.

The entire glass of expensive red wine washed over Vespera's pristine, dark crimson military uniform. The dark liquid soaked into her clothes. It ruined the fabric . It dripped down her black armor plating.

Vespera froze. She stood perfectly still. The toxic magic around her fingers fizzled out . She blinked her sauce-covered eyes. A meatball slowly slid down her cheek and plopped onto the floor.

The entire ballroom went silent. The fighting paused. The nobles stared. The 13th Unit stared.

Ken hit the floor. He landed on his stomach. He rubbed his nose. He looked up at the demon general. He did not look scared. He looked annoyed.

"Oh, come on!" Ken complained lazily. He pointed a finger at the floor. "My meatballs are ruined! I spent five minutes waiting in line for those! And you spilled my drink! This is a massive tragedy for my dinner schedule!"

General Vespera slowly wiped a piece of tomato sauce from her eye. She looked at her ruined uniform. She looked at the boy sitting on the floor.

Her pale face turned a bright, explosive shade of crimson. Her entire body shook with pure, unadulterated fury. She forgot about Princess Iris. She forgot about the holy magic. Her massive ego was shattered. A lazy commoner had just humiliated her with a plate of food on national television.

"You... you filthy insect!" Vespera shrieked at the top of her lungs. Her voice sounded like breaking glass. "You ruined my uniform! You threw garbage at my face! I am a commander of the Netherworld!"

"You were standing in my walking path," Ken argued casually. He dusted off his pants. "You should really look out for people carrying hot food. It is basic party etiquette."

Vespera screamed. It was a terrifying, demonic sound. She raised her right hand high into the air. The red mist from her glass flask swirled wildly. She gathered a massive amount of toxic blood magic. She formed a long, jagged, sharp blood-spear. The spear hummed with lethal energy.

"I am going to pin you to the wall!" Vespera roared furiously. "I will end your pathetic life right now!"

Naomi gasped in panic. "Ken! Move!"

Naomi tried to dash forward. She wanted to save him. But she was too far away. Sayma raised her hands, but she could not cast a barrier in time. The attack was too fast.

Vespera threw the blood-spear.

The spear shot across the room. It moved with blistering, impossible speed. It aimed directly for the center of Ken's chest. It was a flawless, lethal strike. It was meant to kill him instantly.

Ken watched the spear fly toward him. He slumped his shoulders. He did not panic. He did not summon a magical shield. He just let out a quiet sigh.

"This lady has major anger issues," Ken thought casually to himself. He kept his dark eyes perfectly relaxed. "I just dropped some food. She does not need to throw pointy things at me. I really do not want to get stabbed today. Getting stabbed requires filling out medical forms. I hate forms."

Ken stood up slowly. He took a single, lazy step backward.

He placed his shoe onto the marble floor.

His shoe landed directly on top of a discarded, bright yellow banana peel.

Ken did not know where the banana peel came from. Maybe a noble dropped it from the fruit buffet. Maybe the universe just provided it. It did not matter. It was the pinnacle of slapstick comedy logic.

Ken stepped on the peel. His foot shot forward instantly.

"Whoa!" Ken yelled loudly. He waved his arms in a massive, goofy circle.

He slipped on the banana peel. His legs flew out from under him. He dropped straight down toward the floor. He fell flat on his back.

The lethal blood-spear zoomed through the exact spot where Ken's chest had been just a millisecond before. The sharp red magic sailed harmlessly over his nose. It missed him . The spear crashed into a marble pillar behind him. The pillar cracked loudly. The spear dissolved into red mist.

Ken hit the floor with a loud thud.

"Ouch," Ken mumbled lazily. He rubbed his lower back. He looked at the banana peel. "Who leaves a banana peel on the floor? That is a massive safety hazard. Someone is going to get seriously hurt. The janitors here are very bad at their jobs."

The entire ballroom stared at him. Everyone's jaw dropped open.

Naomi stopped running. She blinked her green eyes in shock. She stared at the banana peel. "He... he slipped. He literally slipped on a banana peel. He dodged a lethal attack by slipping on a piece of fruit."

Laxmi burst out laughing. She held her stomach. She laughed so hard she almost fell over. "That is the luckiest thing I have ever seen in my entire life! He is a total clown!"

Sayma pushed her thick glasses up the bridge of her nose. Her dark eyes were wide with total bewilderment. She clicked her pen. "Statistically speaking, the probability of a discarded fruit peel aligning perfectly with a lethal evasion maneuver is practically zero. His luck defies all mathematical boundaries."

Ira stood perfectly still. Her pale face showed zero emotion. "The banana peel provided optimal kinetic displacement. It is a highly efficient, yet absurd, defensive tactic."

Luna rubbed her sleepy eyes. She yawned loudly. "I wish I had a banana. Bananas are very tasty."

General Vespera stared at the boy lying on the floor. Her toxic red eyes twitched. She could not believe it. Her ultimate, lethal attack had missed. A lazy, untucked commoner had effortlessly dodged her magic with a piece of garbage. Her pride was utterly destroyed.
