Alpha's Regret: The Seventh Time was Forever
Chapter 641 – First kiss
Chapter 641: Chapter 641 – First kiss
Corvine looked at Liah with warmth in his eyes, his gaze softening as it traced the worried lines on her face. "I know that you care for me." He reached out, brushing a strand of hair from her cheek. "But if I don’t do it, how else will I have you?"
Liah shook her head, her jaw set with determination. "I already told you before, and I will say it again." Her voice was fierce, almost defiant. "I can leave for France and never come back. We can get married there." She stepped closer, her eyes searching his.
"Besides, I’m already a member of the Grimroot pack. You really don’t have to do this. We can just leave. Right now."
Corvine could not resist anymore. His resolve crumbled like sand, and he pulled her into his arms, her warmth seeping into him. His fingers settled under her chin, lifting it gently, forcing her to meet his gaze. "You’ve forgotten another important part." His voice was soft but serious.
"What if the crown falls into the wrong hands? What if someone unworthy takes it?" He paused, his thumb tracing her jawline. "But Liah, even without the crown, I will fight for you."
Liah threw her arms around his neck, her body pressing against his. Without permission, she pressed her lips to his. What was the essence of waiting any longer? What if she ended up losing him in the fight? This was their first kiss, and though it came rather hurried, she had no regrets at all.
Corvine froze for one second, shock rippling through him. Then he pulled her closer, deepening the kiss. He too feared a little. What if he didn’t make it out alive? What if tomorrow was his last day?
Now that he kissed her, he wanted more of her, and that would be his reason to not lose this fight, the taste of her lips, the feel of her in his arms, the promise of a future together.
When he pulled away, Liah’s face was as red as tomatoes. She buried her face in his chest, her voice muffled against his shirt. "If you have to do it, then get me pregnant first." Her words tumbled out in a rush. "Just in case..."
Corvine quickly shook his head, his hands coming up to cradle her face. "No, Liah. I want our first time to be memorable." His voice was firm, but his eyes were filled with longing. "I want it to be perfect. I want to give you everything you deserve."
Seeing the disappointment in her eyes, he pressed his lips to hers once again. His kisses were rougher this time, more possessive, fueled by a desperate hunger. Then he pulled away and whispered in her ears, his breath warm against her skin.
"I promise to make it out alive for your sake." His voice cracked with emotion. "I can’t wait to make you mine. Completely, irrevocably mine."
Liah snuggled closer, her body molding against his. She was ready to give him everything, and yet he still held back. Their bodies craved each other, the tension between them electric and undeniable. But she had to trust him.
"Alright." Her voice was small. "But if things turn sour, I’m not marrying any man who isn’t you." Her hands fisted in his shirt. "I’d rather elope, lose everything than be without you."
Corvine’s mouth opened, but no words came out. The depth of her commitment stole his breath, left him speechless. When it was time for Liah to leave, Corvine went to open the door to ensure that Jasper was still there because Liah had taken longer than usual.
To his surprise, Jasper wasn’t there. Ravyn stood in his place, his posture relaxed, his expression unreadable. His attention turned at the sound of the door, and he quickly closed the distance.
"Jasper is having a word with his father." His voice was low, careful. "The princess can come out."
Corvine was confused, his brow furrowing. "How..."
"She should leave first." Ravyn said seriously, his voice dropping even lower. "We can talk after."
Liah looked at Corvine with a shy smile before walking out the door, her cheeks still flushed. Corvine watched her back till she entered another room, her figure disappearing behind the door. Then he allowed Ravyn in and closed the door, his expression guarded.
"I can hear since the first time, and I understand." Ravyn explained, his voice matter-of-fact. "The rules are too strict. They’re designed to break you, not test you."
But Corvine was still skeptical, his arms crossing over his chest. "I don’t believe you are on my side."
A ghost of a smile flickered across Ravyn’s face. "If you’ve not noticed, then I’m doing a good job." He casually sat on a sofa in the room like he owned the place, his posture relaxed.
"So, what do you want?" Corvine asked, his voice sharp with suspicion.
Ravyn smiled, then stood up to face him. His words stunned Corvine. "Thank you, Corvine." His voice was thick with sincerity.
"I was jealous before. But after finding out that you didn’t kill my daughter, I felt so ashamed of how I misjudged you due to your relationship with Sera and Voren." He held Corvine’s gaze. "You could have killed her. You had every reason to. But you didn’t."
Corvine sighed with relief, the tension in his shoulders easing. But he did not accept the gratitude. "I didn’t do it for you." His voice was flat. "I did it because it was the right thing to do."
"I know." Ravyn nodded slowly. "But it doesn’t matter. I believe you will make a fine Alpha King." A small smile curled the corner of his lips. "I won’t be around for your fight tomorrow."
Strangely, Corvine felt saddened by the news. Everything had been fair because of Ravyn’s presence, his officiating, his neutrality, his subtle support. "Why?" The question came out before he could stop it.
Ravyn leaned forward, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "I was supposed to have this meeting a few days ago, but King Jaron kept postponing it. I believe it’s intentional, his way of getting me away to do what he plans."
He met Corvine’s eyes, his gaze sharp with warning. "But I know you are smart. Just be careful. Watch your back at all times."
Ravyn spoke to him as a big brother should, and Corvine was grateful. The sincerity in his voice was unmistakable. It wasn’t long after Ravyn left when Corvine heard another knock on the door. He went to get it, surprised to see Allan and Curt standing in the hallway, their faces grim.
Corvine’s gaze squinted as he asked, his voice cold and wary. "What are you doing here?"
