All My Summons Become Divine Girls

Chapter 530: Concord Kills a Body

  • Next Chapter

The second great deployment went out at dawn, and for two hours it went well, which the whole family would later agree had been the trap.

Later, at the treatment tables, they would itemize the trap’s parts. The smooth reports, the rehearsed rhythm, the comfortable illusion that the enemy beneath the seam was a spectator rather than a student.

Three Rings went north, three Rings went to the river, the same honest arithmetic as before.

The north body braced the reopened rift beside Loccy, equipped with one of Ferra’s fresh dozen spears.

The river body held the degrading heart tempo in the chamber water, three Rings deep.

The link between fronts carried Loccy’s reports on schedule, plus the morning settled into the grim comfortable rhythm of work that is going according to plan.

Two hours of that rhythm is exactly long enough for everyone watching to forget that plans are predictions made by hopeful people.

Then the link carried something that was very much not Loccy.

The signal came up through the relay’s emergency lane in the shape of a pressure, not a voice, white-gold plus wrong.

Ferra’s station logged it before any human being could name it.

[ Foreign Divine Command Detected On North Front ]

[ Frequency Relation: Concord Residue ]

[ Target: Not The Body ]

[ Target: The Shared Imprint ]

The thing beneath the old seam had spent two quiet days learning, and it had been a very good student.

Every measurement Ferra had logged, every limit the tests had proven, every doctrine the family had written down had gone into the dark below like correspondence with a rival.

It had watched the boring Tuesdays, the measuring courses, the spear law, plus it had concluded, correctly, that the bodies were one man wearing three places.

A divine command cannot out-strength a Ring clone, because a Ring clone is not a creature with a strength stat.

But the imprint that held the north body to one finite orbit could be named, addressed, plus severed, and severance has no stat at all.

The divine command named the shared imprint outright, before witnesses.

At the river heart, Hajin felt the north body die before any panel reported it, because he was the north body, plus the severing arrived as sensation first.

There is no training for the specific feeling of one of your own hands stopping without the rest of you.

The record should note that he made no sound at all.

The three assigned Rings did not go out cleanly or kindly. They were torn out from the far end, by something that had found the thread plus pulled.

The north body’s last perception crossed the link into the shared attention, complete, unhurried by terror, which the record marks as worse.

The spear was held ready against the grinding rift lip.

Loccy’s hammer rang on a brace frame, close, trusted, present.

The rift’s grinding sat in the borrowed shoulders, plus the shelter row stood above, full of sleeping mornings plus borrowed bread.

All of it was seen clearly by a body with one second left to see anything.

Then the command closed, the imprint severed, plus the north body was nowhere, forever, mid-brace.

The fresh spear dropped from the north body’s last position and clattered against the brace frame. The command had severed the shared imprint, not the ordinary weapon.

[ Ring Clone Destroyed ]

[ Cause: Foreign Divine Command, Imprint Severance ]

[ Assigned Rings: 3 / 3 Severed ]

[ Death Memory Transfer: Complete ]

[ Held Equipment: Released At Destruction Point ]

[ Original Pathway Damage: Matching Burn, Both Forearms ]

[ Severed Ring Recovery Lock: 30 Minutes ]

The river body took it standing in the chamber water, which the record would call heroic plus Vella would call badly supervised.

The heart’s tempo nearly slipped in the taking, held only because a man on his knees in running water can still refuse things.

Three Rings tore free of his shared architecture, the phantom of their severing burning down his real forearms in stripes that matched the clone’s last grip. The river tempo staggered hard at the moment of severance, plus his own knees answered the stagger directly.

The heart noticed the holder’s wound the way weather notices a dropped shield, immediately, plus without sympathy.

The death memory landed on top of the pathway burn, the whole last second of a body he had been, arriving whole.

It did not blur, it did not soften, plus it remains in him now, holding a spear, trusting a hammer, mid-brace.

Grief for a body that was never a person is still grief, the family would learn, plus it files under the same heading in the chest.

[ CringeSlayer91: ] the feed just showed a man in two places become a man in one place, and the one place is on his knees in a river

[ ashley (Mod): ] no commentary on the memory. everyone just watch the fight

He could not recreate the destroyed clone at all, and he tried.

The three severed Rings sat locked behind the thirty-minute panel, dark on his real forearm like pulled teeth.

The lock was absolute, plus he tested it twice anyway, because he is who he is.

"Three Rings remain available," Aria reported, steady as a wall, because someone in his head had to be.

"The river heart tempo is held at three-Ring strength, which the last hour has proven insufficient. The entire north front has now lost its support body as well."

The arithmetic of the morning arrived at its conclusion without hurry, because arithmetic is patient.

The conclusion wore the shape of a man standing chest-deep in an engine’s blood, holding half his power, plus owing two districts everything.

He had exactly one option left, the oldest one in his inventory, which was to hold on.

Three Rings at the river, which could not hold the heart alone, plus a locked half of his power.

A north front stood on Loccy plus nothing, eleven minutes away, with the rift widening toward the shelter row’s foundations every hour.

The river body stood back up in the running water, set its torn forearms against the tempo, plus made the only decision available to half a man.

Standing back up took longer than the record shows, because phantom burns do not care for deadlines, plus Vella’s gold was eleven minutes away at the bank.

"Hold the heart until the lock lifts," he said across the link, to everyone at once. "Then we will see about the north."

"Understood," said the link, in Loccy’s voice, from a front that had just lost its second body in a week plus did not intend to lose its district.

"North front acknowledges," Loccy said again, formally, hammer ringing like a bell.

"Shelter row stands on what it has left. Come back north when your teeth finish growing back, and bring the whole man."

The river heart fought the three-Ring hold exactly as the afternoon had taught everyone it would.

Juna’s solar rhythm came down off the bank to stand in the water beside him, feeding the stabilization from her own core without one word of negotiation.

"We are together in the insufficient," she said over the spray, four Wings braced like a roof against the chamber dark.

"The clause covers this, plus I am adding a clause about divine assassins by dinner."

"The clause covers everything," the river body said, holding the tempo on half power, watching the thirty-minute clock count with his whole divided attention.

Under the old seam, the thing that had learned sat with its new knowledge, plus it was also counting.

It had killed one body of the wrong man, at the cost of revealing exactly what it was plus what it could do.

The next voice that came up through the rift would not be an instruction to the network at all.

It would be the title again, spoken to the man holding three Rings in running water.

The family that heard it would understand that the war had changed weight classes in a single morning.
