Chapter 495: Chapter 248: Holy Land Illusion Realm, Mother of Nightmare Serpents

After reaching the limit on the number of Space Rule Crystals he could convert, Pei Ze finally had some free time.

So, he decided to head to the Thunder Elemental Plane to comprehend the Rule of Lightning.

Just as he expected, his progress in comprehending the Rule of Lightning was much faster than with the Rule of Space.

By the day of the Holy Land qualification battle, his comprehension of the Rule of Lightning had already surpassed the 20% mark.

[Rule of Lightning: 20.39%]

’An increase of 4.11% in one year and two months.’

’I spent a whole year of that time focused on converting Space Rule Crystals. If I’d used that time to comprehend the Rule of Lightning in the Thunder Elemental Plane instead, my efficiency would have been even higher—I probably could have reached around 5%.’

’By that calculation, it will only take me about twelve more years to advance to a Seventh-level Wizard using the Rule of Lightning.’

Pei Ze couldn’t help but marvel at the thought.

Advancing from a Sixth-level to a Seventh-level Wizard in just over a decade was something other Sixth-level Wizards could never even imagine.

Not even the Chosen could advance so quickly.

In the end, it was all thanks to his Eye of Omniscience. That, combined with his years of converting the Power of Thunder Rules, meant his understanding of the Rule of Lightning had already reached a considerable level. That was why his progress was advancing at a rocket-like pace.

The same was true for the Rule of Space.

During the time he was converting Space Rule Crystals, Pei Ze hadn’t used the Eye of Omniscience to analyze the Rule of Space, yet his comprehension of it still increased by 0.05%.

This was comparable to half a year’s worth of analysis with the Eye of Omniscience.

Clearly, converting Space Rule Crystals was also an effective way to improve his understanding and comprehension of the Rule of Space.

Pei Ze felt a slight sense of regret.

’If only I had another ten years,’ he thought. ’I could get my comprehension of the Rule of Lightning above 90%, and I’d be much more confident about this qualification battle for the Holy Land.’

’But alas, nothing in this world is ever perfect.’

Shaking his head, Pei Ze rose to his feet and left the Wizard Tower.

A moment later, he arrived at Mo Weng’s Wizard Tower.

He stepped into a spacious living room where the eight Councillors of the Dawn Council had already gathered.

With the addition of Pei Ze, the new Councillor, the entire Council was now present.

Pei Ze’s gaze swept across the room. He and Yin Yongqin exchanged a slight nod in greeting.

Within the entire Dawn Council, he only recognized Mo Weng, Yin Yongqin, Xi Nan, and Ji Zhang. The rest were all unfamiliar faces.

’No, that’s not quite right,’ he corrected himself. ’There is one more I’ve heard of.’

’Yi Nan, the current Deputy Commander of the Silver Light Legion.’

’Back on the Turin Plane, when Lady Frost’s Divine Envoys attacked Bai Bing City in unison, this very Councillor had been gravely injured and forced to retreat.’

’It was that same battle that resulted in the death of the Meng Family Patriarch, which freed up the Council to deal with the Pei Family.’

As Pei Ze observed the others, several of the Councillors were observing him as well.

Many of the Councillors had long since heard of Pei Ze, the renowned genius of Chenxi City.

In fact, the Dawn Council had been keeping a close watch on Pei Ze ever since the battle at the Tower of the Holy Ring.

They simply never imagined his power would grow so swiftly, soaring from a third-level to a Sixth-level Wizard in just over ten years.

Even they, a group of worldly and experienced Councillors, had been utterly shocked upon learning that Pei Ze had advanced to become a Sixth-level Wizard.

"Everyone is here. Let’s begin."

Xi Nan’s gaze swept around the room as he spoke in a deep voice, drawing everyone’s attention.

He held out his palm, where a small stone had appeared at some point.

The stone was about the size of an egg, with a crooked, irregular shape and a dusty gray surface. It looked like a common pebble one might find on the side of a road.

Yet, when Pei Ze’s gaze fell upon it, he sensed a fierce and surging Power of Thunder Rules.

Before he could react, the stone changed in the next instant, and a faint Power of Spatial Rules emanated from it.

’This is...’

A sense of understanding dawned on Pei Ze.

’If I’m not mistaken, this stone must be something from the Holy Land.’

’It seems to emit a different Power of Rules depending on which Rules the observer themselves comprehends.’

"As in previous years, this year’s qualification battle for the Holy Land will be held in the Holy Land Illusion Realm."

Xi Nan looked toward Pei Ze.

Aside from him, every other Councillor present had participated in the qualification battle more than once and was already familiar with the rules.

Therefore, Xi Nan’s explanation was directed primarily at Pei Ze.

"The Holy Land Illusion Realm is a projection plane of the Holy Land itself. Everything there is illusory, so we cannot enter in our physical bodies. We can only descend as projections."

"These projections possess the same power as our real bodies. Any injuries or even death within the Holy Land Illusion Realm will not cause any harm to our true selves."

A glint flashed in Pei Ze’s eyes.

’Projections?’

’So that’s how it works.’

’That means even Sixth-level Wizards can fight with their full strength in the Holy Land Illusion Realm without holding back.’

’It seems the qualification battle for the Holy Land will be even more intense than I anticipated.’

"What’s the format for this year’s qualification battle?" Yin Yongqin asked. "Last session’s positional warfare was exhausting. It took over two years to determine a winner."

Xi Nan replied calmly, "This session will be a point-based battle."

"A point-based battle?"

The Councillors exchanged glances.

"What are the specifics?"

Xi Nan said calmly, "The Holy Land Illusion Realm will project the battlefield from the Dawn War. All participants will face the Nightmare Serpent race and fight until their projections are destroyed."

"You will earn points for killing Nightmare Serpents. In the end, the five Wizard Cities with the highest total scores will earn the right to enter the Holy Land."

Mo Weng’s eyes glinted. "The rules are very simple."

Indeed, they were simple.

Ultimately, it was a contest to see which Wizard City possessed greater overall strength.

However, simplicity also meant there was little room for strategy or maneuvering.

This made the chances for the weaker Wizard Cities to place in the top five even more remote.
