Chapter 494: Chapter 247: Space Rule Crystal

Wizards below the fourth level would likely be shredded to dust by the violent energy the instant they touched the spatial turbulence.

Even fourth or fifth-level Wizards could easily get injured if they were the slightest bit careless.

Only Sixth-level Wizards, who had fully converted into energy bodies and mastered Soul Power, could withstand prolonged contact with spatial turbulence without being affected.

As Pei Ze reached into the spatial rift, a vast amount of stray energy instantly surged up his arm. It scrambled to enter his body, where it was neutralized by his Soul Power, shedding its violent and chaotic nature. Finally, it gathered deep within his Sea of Consciousness, slowly coalescing into an incomparably brilliant speck of silver light.

As time passed, the silver light gradually grew stronger until, at a certain moment, it erupted in a dazzling radiance. It then quickly faded, finally forming a pale silver, perfect hexahedral crystal.

Pei Ze opened his eyes and let out a long sigh of relief.

He checked the time and was surprised to find that twenty-three days had passed.

’Converting the Power of Spatial Rules takes much longer than the Power of Thunder Rules.’

"Tower Spirit 1, how much energy was consumed for this conversion?"

[A total of 46.21% of the Secondary Elemental Melting Furnace’s full energy was consumed.]

"That much?"

Pei Ze frowned.

Nearly half of its energy was enough to sustain the Wizard Tower through a medium-intensity battle.

Without the help of the Secondary Elemental Melting Furnace, relying solely on himself, he would have likely had his Soul Power drained halfway through, forcing him to abort the process.

But it was all worth it.

A smile touched Pei Ze’s lips as he focused his senses on the Power of Spatial Rules deep within his Sea of Consciousness.

Although he hadn’t used it, he could clearly perceive the immense energy contained within that silver hexahedral crystal.

Once fully unleashed, its power would be at least seven or eight times greater than that of his Power of Thunder Rules.

’Just this one Space Rule Crystal is probably more than enough to kill an ordinary Sixth-level Wizard in an instant.’

Pei Ze had a feeling that with his current comprehension of the Rule of Lightning at less than 17%, he most likely wouldn’t be able to withstand the blast from this Space Rule Crystal.

Any other Wizard with a similar level of comprehension would probably be annihilated instantly.

’Time to convert another.’

After a brief rest, Pei Ze immersed himself in the conversion process again.

Although the conversion consumed a massive amount of energy, the process took over twenty days, giving the Secondary Elemental Melting Furnace enough time to replenish some of its reserves.

As a result, it wasn’t until Pei Ze had converted his fifth Space Rule Crystal that the Secondary Elemental Melting Furnace’s energy dropped below 10%.

Pei Ze didn’t want to use the energy from the over-capacity storage, so he simply stopped to rest for a while, waiting for the Secondary Elemental Melting Furnace to fully recharge before continuing.

’My body isn’t showing any obvious signs of strain. I should be able to convert another five or six Space Rule Crystals.’

Pei Ze left the first floor of the Wizard Tower and went to the "Bird’s Nest" on the sixth floor.

The "Bird’s Nest" was the floor where Wuyu lived. Just like Mo Ying’s exclusive Dragon Hall, it was Wuyu’s personal nest.

However, Wuyu spent most of its time with Pei Ze and was rarely in the Bird’s Nest.

Before he had entered seclusion to convert the Space Rule Crystals, Pei Ze had given Wuyu the last of the materials he collected to absorb. Afterward, it had fallen into hibernation, and Pei Ze had placed it in the Bird’s Nest.

’By my calculations, the little one should have completed its evolution by now.’

Sure enough, when Pei Ze entered the Bird’s Nest, he saw thousands of pitch-black crows circling and hovering everywhere.

Unlike the Fog Crows Wuyu had summoned before, these Fog Crows looked like blobs of flowing, cold darkness.

They only had the shape of crows; when they collided, they would merge like two drops of liquid and reform into a single, identical-looking crow.

Clearly, these new Fog Crows had inherited Wuyu’s original dematerialization ability.

In addition, every single one of them was shrouded in a dense Power of Death.

Pei Ze scanned them with his Eye of Omniscience and found that the concentration of the Power of Death within a single Fog Crow was about one-tenth of what Wuyu possessed before its evolution.

This meant that every one of the several thousand Fog Crows here had combat abilities approaching the fifth level!

’Is this a new change from evolving to the Sixth Level?’

Pei Ze clicked his tongue in amazement.

Originally, as Wuyu’s power grew, the increase in the Fog Crows’ combat strength lagged far behind its own, to the point that the Summoning Fog Crow ability was gradually failing to keep up with Wuyu’s growth.

He never expected that after evolving to the Sixth Level, the ability would instead be significantly enhanced.

’What a pity. If Wuyu had this ability back at Level 5, it would have been perfect for the blood war. My power would have grown incredibly fast.’

Pei Ze felt a slight sense of regret.

This ability would be an absolute superweapon against Mid-Low Tier Evil Demons!

It would be enough to decide the outcome of a regional war!

While Pei Ze was lost in thought, the number of surrounding Fog Crows rapidly dwindled as they collided and merged. Finally, only one remained. It streaked toward him like a beam of light and landed silently on his shoulder.

"Caw."

Wuyu let out a soft cry and gently pecked Pei Ze’s cheek.

"Well done."

Pei Ze stroked Wuyu’s head, the corners of his mouth turning up slightly.

He could clearly feel the Power of Death Rules contained within Wuyu’s body.

Although it was very faint, perhaps not even 1%.

But the Rule of Death was, after all, a superior rule. Wuyu’s current combat strength was likely greater than that of many newly promoted Sixth-level Wizards.

Countless paths, one destination.

There are countless evolutionary paths for living beings, but once they reach a certain level, they all return to the most fundamental plane.

The plane of Rules.

In essence, the current Wuyu was equivalent to a Sixth-level Wizard who had comprehended the Rule of Death.

Its combat methods just weren’t as complex or varied as a true Sixth-level Wizard’s.

’It seems the effects of the Divine Blood from the God of Decay and Death are quite significant.’

Pei Ze nodded to himself. With a flick of his wrist, a wisp of pale flame appeared out of thin air in his palm.

In an instant, an icy aura of death spread out, filling the entire Bird’s Nest.

Wuyu’s cold eyes were immediately captivated by the pale flame. It stared intently, not blinking, as if the wisp of fire held an immense attraction for it.

And that was indeed the case.

This wisp of Cyan Flame, obtained from the God of Decay and Death, was nothing less than a powerful tonic for Wuyu, which had comprehended the Rule of Death.

Pei Ze had originally planned to let Wuyu absorb the Cyan Flame to increase its power after it evolved to the Sixth Level, and now was the perfect time to act on it.

"Here, swallow this, little one."

With Pei Ze’s permission, Wuyu immediately craned its neck, opened its beak, and unceremoniously swallowed the Cyan Flame.

The next second, Wuyu began to sway as if it were drunk, nearly falling off Pei Ze’s shoulder.

Pei Ze quickly caught the little one and placed it in its nest.

By now, Wuyu had already fallen still, fast asleep in a deep slumber.

Pei Ze couldn’t help but chuckle.

He knew Wuyu had absorbed an overload of energy all at once. To digest it, its body was forced into a state of hibernation.

The little one would awaken once it had finished digesting and absorbing all the energy.

And by then, its power would surely have taken a quantum leap.

Pei Ze was overjoyed.

With a powerful combatant like Wuyu on his side, his chances in the Holy Land qualification battle were much better.

’There are still eight months until the Holy Land qualification battle. That should be enough time for Wuyu to digest the Cyan Flame.’

Pei Ze turned and left the Bird’s Nest.

While the Secondary Elemental Melting Furnace was recharging, he planned to take care of some affairs in the Wizard Tower so he could later focus completely on converting Space Rule Crystals.

...

「In the blink of an eye, more than five months had passed.」

After converting his twelfth Space Rule Crystal, Pei Ze finally felt a familiar sense of stagnation and fullness.

’Is twelve Space Rule Crystals the limit?’

Pei Ze sighed with a bit of regret.

If he could have accumulated forty or fifty Space Rule Crystals, he could have steamrolled the Holy Land qualification battle and single-handedly secured a spot in the Holy Land for Chenxi City.

Unfortunately, that was just wishful thinking.

Even if his body could handle it, there wasn’t enough time left to convert that many Space Rule Crystals.

’Just over two months left.’

Pei Ze focused his senses and discovered that Wuyu had already awoken from its slumber.

’Now, all that’s left is to wait for the Holy Land qualification battle to begin.’
