Chapter 481: Chapter 241: Power of Rules vs. Wizard Tower
The Thunder Elemental Plane.
As the final wisp of Thunder Elemental Energy sank into his body, the lightning enveloping Pei Ze receded. He opened his eyes and let out a long sigh.
The turbulent tide of energy around him gradually dissipated, soon vanishing without a trace.
Observing the fifteen drops of the Power of Rules orbiting the Elemental Fire within his Sea of Consciousness, a look of immense joy spread across Pei Ze’s face.
He had been participating in the Blood War for nearly two years now.
In that time, he was either fighting on the battlefield or condensing the Power of Rules in the Thunder Elemental Plane, with scarcely a moment’s rest.
But for all the frantic activity, the rewards had been substantial.
His soul fusion had now reached a staggering 85.91%, not far from a hundred percent completion.
’However, after surpassing 80%, the difficulty of raising my soul fusion has increased considerably.’
A glint appeared in Pei Ze’s eyes.
Soul fusion wasn’t like elementalization progress, where you could attempt a breakthrough upon reaching 80%. Instead, the soul had to fuse completely with the Elemental Fire. Only then could the elemental source be fully converted into Soul Power, allowing one to take that critical final step.
’Less than 15% to go. Even though it’s getting progressively harder, it should take a year or two at most.’
Pei Ze felt increasingly grateful for his decision to join the Blood War.
Without the Blood War, relying on normal cultivation alone would have likely taken him hundreds of years to achieve a breakthrough.
And that was with his cultivation speed already far exceeding other Wizards of his level.
For other Wizards, the time required would likely have been several times greater.
On the path of a Wizard, the further one advanced, the more difficult each step became.
Chenxi City had tens of thousands of Wizards, yet the number of Sixth-level Wizards could be counted on two hands. Each one was an influential, top-tier combatant in the city.
As such, Chenxi City decreed that any Wizard who ascended to the sixth level would gain the status of a Councillor, earn a seat on the Dawn Council, and become a member of the ruling class that controlled the city’s fate.
With the Rule Wizards in year-round seclusion and uninvolved in mundane affairs, the Sixth-level Wizard Councillors were arguably the highest-ranking figures in Chenxi City.
Pulling his thoughts back to the present, Pei Ze left the Thunder Elemental Plane.
He had spent nearly four months in the Thunder Elemental Plane this time and wondered what the situation on the battlefield was like.
After their counteroffensive into Avernus, the first layer of Hell, the demon army had quickly established a foothold and successfully built a frontline fortress.
After that, however, the war had devolved into a stalemate.
Things had been fine when they were fighting on their home turf, where the demons could fully leverage their numerical superiority.
But once they entered enemy territory, problems that had previously been hidden quickly came to the forefront.
The most serious of these was logistics.
The inherently chaotic demons were an absolute disaster when it came to logistics and supplies.
After all, one couldn’t expect demons, who had no sense of order whatsoever, to establish a regular supply chain.
It was already an achievement if they managed to deliver supplies to the frontline fortress without losing them or consuming them along the way. Naturally, speed was out of the question.
Consequently, the frontline fortress was often short on supplies, which severely hampered the war effort.
As a result, the demon army’s offensive had yet to make any significant progress.
Conversely, the devils had already recovered from their initial disadvantage and were gradually massing their forces, preparing to destroy the frontline fortress and reclaim their lost territory in one fell swoop.
This was, in fact, an epitome of the Blood War’s entire history.
Neither the demons nor the devils could ever truly defeat the other, a reality rooted in unchangeable, fundamental factors.
Back in the Pallid Bone Inn, Pei Ze was just about to head to the battlefield when he suddenly heard the fluttering of wings outside his window.
Through the three-dimensional sense provided by his Spiritual Power, he perceived a red bat hovering outside his window.
Pei Ze raised an eyebrow. With a mere thought, the window swung open, and the red bat immediately flew inside, landing on his outstretched palm.
The instant his palm made contact with the red bat, Pei Ze knew it wasn’t a living creature, but a type of Puppet Creation formed entirely from blood.
Furthermore, the bat carried a familiar aura.
It was one he had sensed on someone before—Annie.
A peculiar expression crossed Pei Ze’s face.
Gu Lin had once told him that Annie wanted to take him to the Abyss or Hell, but he hadn’t expected to find them here in Broken Domain Town.
The red bat said nothing. After a few seconds, it flapped its wings and flew back outside.
With a flicker in his eyes, Pei Ze followed it.
He was curious to see what Annie was up to.
After leaving Broken Domain Town, the red bat flew on without stopping, heading into the distance.
The bat flew erratically, with no discernible pattern, yet Pei Ze could tell it possessed the same innate sense of direction as a demon, steadily closing in on its destination.
Pei Ze didn’t rush it, patiently following from behind.
Roughly four or five hours later, the man and the bat arrived in a barren field littered with jagged, strange rock formations.
Suddenly, Pei Ze’s expression shifted as he gazed into the distance.
He could clearly sense intense fluctuations of energy coming from far away.
’Someone’s fighting!’
’And quite a few Wizards are involved!’
The intense fluctuations of Elemental Energy and Spiritual Power couldn’t have been more obvious.
’This energy intensity... there are at least twenty Elemental Mages!’
A flash of surprise crossed Pei Ze’s eyes.
The Abyss was not the Star Realm Alliance; Wizards were few and far between here.
He had already been surprised to see a dozen or so Elemental Mages on the Blood War battlefield, but now another large group had appeared.
’What in the world is going on?’
Seeing the red bat fly straight toward the battle, Pei Ze narrowed his eyes and followed suit.
