After the Divorce, My Wife and I Were Both Reborn
Chapter 216 - 214: Senior, He’s My Boyfriend
Chapter 216: Chapter 214: Senior, He’s My Boyfriend
"Tsk, someone isn’t so magnanimous after all. Getting all possessive, are we?"
Lin Yanwan gently tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, giving him a teasing look.
Jiang Xia said righteously, "I just promised Mom and Dad I’d protect you wherever we go. Besides, that guy just now... he didn’t even notice a handsome stud like me standing right here and was only focused on talking to you. He definitely has ulterior motives. You have to stay away from people like that, you know?"
"Mhm, yes, Jiang’s Bodyguard, you’re right." Lin Yanwan held back a smile.
’When it came down to it, he was just afraid some other equally outstanding guy would steal me away. Tsk, what a silly oaf.’
The two of them walked straight down Tsinghua Road, and in the distance, they could see the most iconic structure in Tsinghua Garden—the Second School Gate.
It was a classical and elegant paifang-style structure with three arches, blue bricks, and white pillars. The lintel bore the large characters for "Tsinghua Garden," inscribed in 1911 by Natoong, a Grand Council minister of the late Qing Dynasty.
Standing on the central axis of Tsinghua Road and looking north toward the Second School Gate, one could see the Tsinghua Auditorium and the Sun Dial in the distance.
"So this is the legendary Second School Gate." Jiang Xia took a closer look. It was indeed identical to the one on his acceptance letter.
Besides students, there also seemed to be tourists with cameras, taking photos of people posing under the "Tsinghua Garden" inscription for their social media.
After passing through the Second School Gate, they walked a few hundred more meters and saw the School of Economics and Management Building. They made a few turns and saw the orientation banners stretched out in front of the School of Economics and Management. Several canopies were set up, divided by major—Accounting, Economics, Finance, and so on. New students were already queuing up in front of their respective majors.
Jiang Xia scanned the area and noticed there were quite a lot of girls in the economics and management programs. He could hardly see any guys at a glance, which instantly put him at ease. It wasn’t like those science and engineering schools where the gender ratio was ridiculously skewed and the few girls in a class were treated like priceless treasures.
’In an environment like this, even if my precious girlfriend is gorgeous, she won’t be lusted after by too many guys.’
It was still early, and there were only three students ahead of them. In no time, it was Lin Yanwan’s turn.
The pretty senior in charge of registration looked up at the handsome boy in front of her, and her eyes instantly lit up. Everyone said the School of Economics and Management was a convent, and it had been a long, long time since she’d seen such a handsome new student. She was so excited that her face flushed.
"Hey junior, are you a new student in our Business Administration program?" The senior was very pretty, and her voice was gentle. Her smile was like a spring breeze, and she was confident she could leave a good impression on him.
Lin Yanwan’s heart twinged. She never thought it would be her turn to be ignored.
’And that voice is way too fake and cutesy!’
’She wasn’t like this when she was registering the girl before us.’
"Hello, Senior. I’m the new student for the School of Economics and Management," Lin Yanwan said, her voice flat as she took her acceptance letter out of her bag and handed it over.
The senior froze for a moment, her gaze shifting to the stunningly beautiful, star-like girl next to him. "Then... then he is?"
"Oh, he’s my boyfriend. He’s in the civil engineering department."
Lin Yanwan smiled sweetly and linked her arm with Jiang Xia’s. She silently resolved to make sure Jiang Xia stayed far away from the School of Economics and Management in the future. The seniors here were just too thirsty.
’B-Boyfriend?’
The orientation senior’s breath hitched, and her expression became extremely awkward. She had almost hit on her junior’s boyfriend right in front of her.
’Seriously, why are couples getting into Tsinghua together?!’
"Oh, oh! I’m so sorry, so sorry."
The senior apologized profusely, the tips of her ears turning beet red. She took Lin Yanwan’s acceptance letter, first checking the name, then the department and major, before searching for her name on the new student roster.
"Found it. Lin Yanwan, Business Administration Class 1. Your dorm is in Bauhinia Apartment, Building 5, room 520A. Here’s your key. Please sign here."
"Okay."
"To get to Bauhinia Apartment, just go out from here and walk straight down Xinmin Road. You’ll need to register with the dorm supervisor when you get there."
"Got it. Thank you, Senior."
Watching the couple leave, the orientation senior couldn’t help but sigh. She thought she’d met a junior she might be interested in, but he was already taken.
She’d almost made a complete fool of herself, too.
"Next," the senior called out, her voice devoid of energy.
◇
"Darling, you looked so cute staking your claim just now." Jiang Xia mimicked her, linking his arm with hers. "’Oh, he’s my boyfriend. He’s in the civil engineering department.’"
Lin Yanwan shot him an annoyed, embarrassed glare and huffed, "You have no idea how much she was putting on that cutesy voice! She was like a completely different person. Her attitude changed, her voice changed... BLECH, so gross."
Jiang Xia just smiled without a word. He loved seeing her get jealous.
"Anyway, don’t you be running over to my building all the time in the future, you hear me?" she muttered.
"Why not?"
"No reason, you’re just not allowed!"
’There are too many girls. If Jiang Xia is always hanging around in front of them, what if some ’green tea’ type shows up? The kind who knows he has a girlfriend but still throws herself at him and tries to seduce him? I couldn’t stand that.’
"No way. I’ll die if I don’t see you for a day."
"...Then I’ll come find you."
Jiang Xia reluctantly agreed.
Tsinghua University was different from other schools. The dormitories weren’t divided by department but were part of a large student apartment complex. All students—male or female, regardless of major—lived there.
So, the two decided to get Jiang Xia registered first, then head to Bauhinia Apartment together.
Fortunately, the School of Fine Arts Building wasn’t far from the School of Economics and Management Building. It was right next to it, separated only by a patch of green lawn.
Following the same procedure, this time Jiang Xia didn’t have Lin Yanwan accompany him. He had her wait under a tree with their luggage while he went to queue up for registration alone with his acceptance letter.
The Tsinghua School of Fine Arts had slightly more students than the School of Economics and Management, but the number of male and female students was about even. There were probably a few more guys, but it was still better than the "monk majors" like vehicle engineering or civil engineering.
He glanced at his acceptance letter. The animation major belonged to the Department of Information Art & Design. In an era where the information age was about to explode, many people chose to major in animation.
There were a dozen or so people in front of him, so he had to wait quite a while for his turn.
"Let’s see, Jiang Xia, right? A new student in the animation program."
The senior in charge of registration took a couple of extra glances at the sunny, handsome boy in front of her. She took his acceptance letter, verified it carefully, and then meticulously searched for his name on the new student roster.
"Mm, found it. Jiang Xia, Animation Class 2. Your dorm is in Bauhinia Apartment, Building 6, room 620B. Here’s your key. Please sign here."
"Done. Thank you, Senior." Jiang Xia signed his name and took the key.
"Hey, Jiang Xia, just so you know, I’m a senior in your department," the small-statured senior in front of him said with a friendly smile. "Oh, and remember to register with the dorm supervisor when you move in. You can also let her know if you need anything."
"Mhm, got it. Thanks, Senior."
Jiang Xia nodded with a smile and was about to leave when the guy who had just finished registering turned back to look at him.
"You’re in 620B? Hey, what a coincidence. Me too."
The handsome guy in front of him smiled and extended a hand.
"Hello, my name is Su Qing. Your new classmate and roommate."
