After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World
Chapter 2168: Clearing Up Trespassers
Meanwhile, Garan’s fight against the powerhouses was also ongoing. This could be said to be the flashiest and noisiest battle, so most people’s attention was here.
BANG!
SLAM!
The man’s name was Tanko, and his profession was a swordsman. Their battle was a deadly one that damaged various buildings and streets.
The chaos naturally caused the guards to enter the fray, especially since this was an area that the Lord specifically asked to guard.
But what to do if one of the culprits were the Lord’s guests? The other was someone whose position in the city wasn’t low either.
By the time they arrived, Tanko was entering a berserk state. Although neither of them had successfully injured the other, Garan had lasted so long without damage against him, so he was naturally not reconciled.
The head guard at the scene looked uncomfortable, but he did his job. "You will pay for all the damage," he said. "Please stop causing more chaos."
Normally, even if someone were to argue with them, it was regarding the cost. Unexpectedly, someone actually denied the allegations altogether.
"It was all his damage," Garan said with that baritone voice of his. "I did not damage a single brick."
If one looked at the damaged buildings and roads, there were clear marks of sharp sword attacks. In contrast, while there were remnants of ice and metals, they had mostly hit the enemy equipment. It was just that they were blocked by the shields or the high-level defense equipment.
The ones that did not hit did not cause damage either. For example, the sharp metal spikes did not embed on the surface and just laid there, while the ice spikes had either disintegrated or turned to smaller ice pieces.
If one were to look at the evidence, it was difficult to deny his claims.
"..."
Valhalla and Virion arrived just when this happened, and their lips twitched upwards in amusement.
To think that Garan grew up so strong that he could still control his attacks to this degree while keeping himself safe against someone with so many levels higher than him.
To be honest, it burned Virion’s competitive streak.
"Not now," Valhala said, sensing the tension next to him.
"I know."
When he heard chaos was happening to his precious guests, he dismissed the court and rushed over. Similarly, Virion seemed to have this alarm for gossip, and he emerged from his seclusion training not long after that.
The fight between level 40s was intense. Several buildings were destroyed, and some areas were obliterated. From what they heard, there were several injuries as well, and it was lucky there were no deaths.
"Wow...brother, you might really have to consider applying the no-fighting rule in your City."
He said this casually, not really expecting it to happen. Fixing the damage was definitely far cheaper than implementing those rules. First of all, the orcs and half-orcs could get quite violent and vent their frustrations through fighting.
It was why many orcs preferred to live outside the walls. It was just that the monsters at city-level were a bit strong, so the orcs here still lived within the walls rather than be exposed on all sides.
Speaking of orcs...the orcs Garan and Althea brought with them were quite strong. Althea, who was watching everything as she stood on her villa roof, was also reminded that her orcs were indeed quite strong.
Back on the other side, the orcs looked average against the strong monsters. The lower average on that side was level 20 already, so naturally the orcs—which might just be around that level—did not look particularly overwhelming.
However, on this side, she was reminded just how physically superior this race was.
Look, even Bable just had to grab a man’s feet (whose level was higher than him) and then he threw him around like a proper gorilla.
Speaking of this, orcs on this side were inherently a bit weaker than the ones in the far east because the latter were always in life and death situations, surrounded by monsters averaging town level beasts. Here, they seemed to be on ’easy mode,’ with most creatures weaker than they were, unless they lived in cities.
Another reason was because of a long-term lack of monster meat around their level. This did not just mean they were deprived of the miraculous ’healing’ ability of the meat on the orc body.
It also had a passive calming effect, so the orcs on this side were more likely to be grumpy and prone to unnecessary fighting than the orcs on the other side.
It was quite an interesting difference.
Another reason why it was impractical for Valhalla to implement a no-fighting rule was that it was so damned expensive. Maintaining rules and regulations cost a lot of money per rule, and this was proportional to the size of the area. Money was also deducted annually for maintenance.
Maintaining so many rules in a City would cost a fortune each time it charged a Lord’s wallet. If one got too carried away setting up rules and being excessively specific, then the costs of the rules might just get more expensive than its income.
There really weren’t many territories willing to invest on specific rules like Alterra did.
Althea and Garan were now standing on the fence, ready to defend, though their enemies had already halved, with the rest already unconscious or demobilized.
It was just that the enemy had his own gang and mercenary team, so they went over to serve as back up. At that point, the orcs also joined in the fight, pretty much eliminating the enemies.
The enemy also had a few orcs, and it was here that they witnessed the fight between the two kinds of orcs.
Despite being smaller in stature, even the smaller orc, like Bable, could defeat the large orcs from the City. This made sense. Though the orcs of the city fought much harder than humans, the training they received still wouldn’t match with the orcs who lived and fought with strong monsters every day, all without the protection of the system territories.
Althea reckoned that long-term consumption of ’appropriately leveled’ meat might also have some subtle, permanent effects.
She even peeked at their [Stats] and saw that the orcs from the other side had higher physical stats than the same-level orcs from the city.
Valhalla and Virion watched everything from the side. When they realized that Althea and Garan didn’t need them, they even found a seat to leisurely watch the fight.
It was admittedly a bit painful to see this part of the city getting destroyed tho.
