After a Flash Marriage With a Billionaire, My Brothers Are Begging for My Forgiveness!
Chapter 256: Go Ask Your Wife Yourself
Chapter 256: Chapter 256: Go Ask Your Wife Yourself
Julian Forrester was so close to his grandfather that he could tell his state of mind just by looking at him. His brow furrowed. "Grandpa."
His grandfather raised a hand to wipe away his tears and nodded repeatedly. "As long as you’re awake, that’s all that matters. As long as you’re awake... Sienna has been by your bedside day and night. She’s lost so much weight..."
Julian Forrester knew Sienna Everett well enough to have already noticed.
The thing was, Sienna Everett didn’t have the kind of body type that put on weight easily. He had brought her to live with the Forresters a year ago, providing her with the very best of everything. He had just barely managed to help her put on a little weight, and now she had lost it all again.
Sienna hadn’t thought much of it, but hearing her grandfather say it out loud made her feel quite embarrassed.
Mr. and Mrs. Sterling exchanged a few words with Julian Forrester. Seeing that he seemed physically and mentally all right, they finally began to relax.
Once the full-body examination was complete, the hospital director and doctors approached with the expedited test results.
Sienna Everett asked anxiously, "Director, how is he?"
His grandfather, Keith Sterling, Mr. and Mrs. Sterling, and Samuel Sutton all looked toward the director.
The director unfolded the report and explained carefully, "Following the examination, we’ve determined that Mr. Forrester’s other injuries are no longer a major concern, and his vitals are normal. However, regarding the head injury from the blunt trauma, he will need to remain hospitalized for a few more days so we can observe the situation and watch for any lingering effects."
After all, a blunt-force injury to the head, the most vital part of the body, was not something to be taken lightly.
Sienna was standing by the bed, and upon hearing the director’s words, she couldn’t help but take Julian Forrester’s hand.
Their fingers intertwined, his warm, dry palm enveloping hers. It felt as if he were transferring a steady stream of energy to her, and her anxious heart finally began to settle.
The director continued, "Also, Mr. Forrester was in a coma for almost a week and has only just woken up, so some physical weakness is inevitable. But that’s nothing to worry about; he will recover gradually."
The director then mentioned a few other points of caution.
Sienna carefully committed each point to memory.
To avoid disturbing the patient’s rest, the director led the doctors out of the room once he had finished his instructions.
Keith Sterling finally got his chance. He shot up to the side of the bed, poked Julian Forrester, then squeezed his arm. Feeling that tangible warmth, his eyes instantly welled with tears.
"Brother, you have no idea, I’ve been scared to death these past few days! I was terrified you were going to turn into a vegetable!"
Julian Forrester: "..."
Sienna Everett: "..."
Mrs. Sterling shot him a glare. "Keith, what nonsense are you talking about!"
Keith Sterling pouted and looked pleadingly at his brother, pointing at his own eyes. "Brother, I was really worried about you! Look, I even have dark circles!"
Julian Forrester and Keith Sterling had always been close, so Julian understood his younger brother’s worry. He reached out and patted his shoulder.
It’s when you’re vulnerable that you’re most susceptible to comfort from others.
Keith Sterling had just managed to compose himself.
But with that single pat on the shoulder, that simple comfort from his brother, Keith Sterling couldn’t hold back any longer. Tears started streaming from his eyes like a busted faucet.
"Luckily, these two dark circles are placed perfectly; they don’t ruin my handsome face... Brother, you probably don’t know this, but Sierra is even more worried about you than I am! She’s barely even left the room these past few days. She’s just been watching you, not even eating properly!"
’Look at how thoughtful and considerate I am, not forgetting to help my brother and sister-in-law deepen their bond even at a time like this!’
’I really am a perfect younger brother—dashing, brilliant, heroic, handsome, and cute!’
At these words, Julian Forrester looked toward Sienna Everett. His jet-black eyes were as deep as the ocean, and in their darkest depths, a turbulent undercurrent seemed to churn.
Sienna grew bashful under his gaze and gave a light cough. "Don’t listen to him. Keith Sterling is just being dramatic..."
"How am I being dramatic!?" Keith Sterling shot his brother a wink. "Brother, if you don’t believe me, just ask your wife."
Sienna Everett: "..."
The morning sun rose slowly, its bright, gentle rays spilling through the window and chasing away the bleak silence that had filled the room.
A stark contrast to the despair and chill of the past days, the atmosphere in the hospital room had finally warmed considerably.
After they chatted for a while, the ever-perceptive Keith Sterling was itching to leave his brother and Sierra alone.
His grandfather happened to have the same idea, so he gave everyone a meaningful look, and the group filed out of the room.
Samuel Sutton left, only to double back a moment later with breakfast.
After setting down the breakfast, Samuel Sutton quickly took his leave again, his steps so jaunty they seemed to stir a cheerful breeze.
Sienna shook her head in resignation.
Sienna laid out the breakfast. She glanced at the food; thankfully, it was all easily digestible.
Perfect for the delicate and weakened Julian Forrester.
"You just woke up, so you’re deli—... I mean, your body is weak. You should eat something easy to digest first."
Sienna ladled a bowl of pork congee for him and asked with concern, "You only just woke up, and you’ve been through a long examination and all this talking. Are you tired? Do you feel like you need to sleep?"
Julian Forrester raised an eyebrow. "No."
While he spoke, his gaze never left Sienna for a single moment, as if he hadn’t seen her in a very long time, and yet could never see enough of her.
"That’s good." Sienna glanced at his head, praying that the injury would heal quickly and not leave any lingering effects.
"By the way, we’ve kept your coma completely under wraps, so the public doesn’t know," Sienna said, starting to fill him in on what had happened. "Keith Sterling and Samuel Sutton are holding down the fort at the company, but a lot of things have piled up that you need to handle personally."
Julian Forrester hummed in acknowledgment.
"It’s a good thing you woke up today. If you hadn’t, we wouldn’t have been able to keep it a secret much longer." Sienna’s eyelashes trembled. Just thinking about a scenario where he didn’t wake up made her feel a sting in her nose.
Julian Forrester saw the redness creeping into the corners of her eyes, and a sharp pain pierced his chest.
He didn’t want to see Sienna looking sad. He took her hand gently and teased in a relaxed tone, "Why the long face? It’s not like we were saying our final goodbyes."
Sienna immediately clapped a hand over his mouth. "Don’t say things like that!"
’She was feeling very sensitive right now; she couldn’t stand to hear words like "final goodbye".’
He lowered his gaze, a low chuckle escaping him. He pulled her hand from his mouth. His voice was still raspy, but it was pleasant in a way she couldn’t explain. "So, Sienna’s heart was aching for me this whole time."
Sienna shot him a sidelong glance before dropping her gaze to the lavish breakfast on the table.
After a moment’s pause, she pressed her rosy, dewy lips together, then lifted her glistening eyes to meet his.
"You were in a coma for seven days. Our one-year anniversary... it passed."
"I said... that on our anniversary, I would give you my answer... about whether I was going to divorce you..."
