Chapter 1980: Leaving With The Principal
Chapter 1980: Leaving With The Principal
Grey looked at the sight of the Principal, feeling a little sad in his heart. The first time he saw the Principal all those years ago, he had a calm deposition, always leaving one with a feeling of comfort. The current Principal was a shadow of his former self, it was even safe to say that he was barely any different from a walking corpse. The urge to destroy this entire compound came to Grey’s mind at the sight of the Principal, but he managed to hold himself back. He did not have the strength to fight against the two Peak Sovereigns here. Besides, this City had more than just two Peak Sovereigns. Once a battle breaks out here, the other Peak Sovereigns present in the City would surely race here to see what is happening. They would attack the moment they realize a Human is fighting with their fellow Race members.
The Principal’s eyes were dull, a stark contrast from his usual steady gaze. Grey could not even imagine what the Principal must have experienced during the past few days. It has not even been up to two weeks since he was captured from True Dawn, yet he has been reduced to such a state. Had Grey not taken the decision to rush here as soon as possible, the chances of the Principal losing his life in the coming weeks were quite high. Even staying alive until now must have not been easy.
Grey’s heart was in turmoil, yet he made sure he did not show any of his emotions, keeping the same coldness in his eyes.
“This is the one.” He nodded to the Middle-aged Gnome who brought the Principal over.
“Your description was pretty specific, it would’ve been hard to miss him… even in his current state.” The Middle-aged Gnome replied with a hollow chuckle. From how the Seventh Prince sent his secret Necromancer over, it was evident how important this Human was to him, so he felt a little awkward given the current state of the Human.
Grey nodded, not wanting to waste anymore time here, he said, “Thank you for your assistance, I will be taking my leave now.”
Dropping this statement, he grabbed the Principal by the shoulder and turned around to leave, catching the Middle-aged Gnome by surprise.
“If you don’t mind, we would like to entertain you for a day or two before the Grand Elders return. They would like to have a discussion with you.” The Middle-aged man hurriedly said, taking a step forward to intercept Grey.
“I’m sorry, but I’m in a hurry. Maybe next time.” Grey refused, noticing the flash of anger in the Middle-aged Gnome’s eyes, he added, “You already know where to find me, and once I bring this Human back, I can ask His Highness if I can come back.”
The Middle-aged Gnome thought about it and nodded, the Seventh Prince must be waiting for this Human. Though they did not know what made him special, there was nothing they could do. Forcing Grey to stay here when he had not fully completed his task would mean going against the Seventh Prince, something they did not want to do. They hoped to form a good rapport with Grey instead since he should be one of the closest allies of the Seventh Prince.
Grey was not stopped by anyone on his way out, walking side by side with the Principal who had not said a single word from the time he appeared. Grey scanned him with his Mental Sense when he first met him and knew that he was fine. Other than his essence being drained, as well as part of his life force, he was fine. A powerful healing tonic is all he needed to revert back to his previous self. Of course, Grey had no idea if there was anything that could be done about his damaged core. Even the True Dawn’s experts have been of no help all these years now.
When the duo left the gate, Grey initially wanted to make use of the teleportation array he set up in the alley not too far from the walls, only to change his mind and walk straight into the crowded City with the Principal in tow.
A few seconds after they exited the compound, a shadow darted out of the compound, tailing the duo.
The duo soon got to a crowded area where Grey blended into the crowd with the Principal, before disappearing from sight.
The shadow tailing them wore a shocked expression from where he was hidden, he clearly saw the duo walk into the crowd, and even his Mental Sense was locked on the Principal. He knew Grey was strong and might notice him, so he decided to lock his Mental Sense on the Principal instead. He did not expect him to completely vanish from both his sight and senses the moment they stepped into the crowd.
“What is going on?” The shadow muttered while staring at the crowd from beside a building. He did not know what to do. He was told to track the duo’s movement, yet he had lost them within the span of ten minutes. He was regarded as the best in terms of tailing people in the Family, and had even tailed some Peak Sovereigns without being detected or losing track of them. While trailing an Eighth stage Sovereign with a walking dead Human, he lost track of them in such a short time, leaving him stumped for words.
Somewhere else in the City.
While the Gnome trailing them was at a loss for words, Grey and the Principal appeared leisurely in the western part of the City. On his way out of the compound with the Principal, he was notified of the presence of someone tailing them by the Bunny Leader and Void. His senses are not as sharp as the duo, so he had no clue of this Gnome trailing them. Nonetheless, with both Void and the Bunny Leader always by his side, even a Half God Plane expert would not be able to avoid detection from them, especially the Bunny Leader.
