Chapter 1932: Retreating In Fear

Chapter 1932: Retreating In Fear

A light came crashing from the sky, slamming heavily into the ground. The light drew the attention of everyone on the battlefield as they tried to see what the light was, it took only a few seconds before the glow died down and everyone was left shocked at the scene before them; a Half God Plane expert was dead.

This Half God Plane expert was a Gnome, meaning their numbers had dropped. They were previously fighting five against seven, with one Half God Plane dead; it meant there were only four Half God Plane Gnomes fighting against seven Half God Plane Humans.

The sight of the corpse of the dead Gnome affected the momentum of the Gnomes at the Peak of the Sovereign Plane and below, making them lose interest in fighting any further. Once the remaining Half God Plane Gnomes were killed, it would not matter if these Gnomes were able to kill the Humans below the Half God Plane, as the Half God Plane Humans would be able to easily wipe them out with little to no effort.

The Gnomes felt dispirited with the death of a Half God Plane Gnome, that was not the case for the Humans as they all felt reinvigorated. Now they were sure that victory was theirs, and without the portal for the Gnomes to have any form of backup, Humans did not have to worry about anyone else joining the fight.

Grey and the other Humans were beyond excited at the sight of this, charging towards their opponents with renewed vigour.

The eyes of the Old Gnome chasing after Grey turned red at this point, he could not hide the hate in his eyes for Grey as he tried to catch up to him and kill him before the battle on the side of the Half God Plane came to an end. The Gnomes did not have the number advantage in the top battle, and now that one of the Half God Plane Gnomes has died, it placed a lot of pressure on the surviving weaker Gnomes. Of all the Gnomes, the Old Gnome showed the most resolution in trying to kill his opponent as he blitzed through a series of attacks to get to Grey. If the portal were still open, he knew another Half God Plane Gnome would have passed through by now.

Grey already knew this Old Gnome is stronger than the average Peak Sovereign and no matter how hard he tried, his chances of defeating him was quite low, since that was the case, he decided to continue running around the battlefield, helping his companions. Some Humans were already dead, and if he did not help out, then more Humans would lose their lives.

Boom!

Switching places with Chris, Grey struck the Gnome he was fighting. The sudden change of opponents caught the Gnome unaware, making it hard for him to maintain his composure when faced against the brutal attack of Grey.

The Gnomes all around the battlefield noticed Grey’s movements, making them all wary. Against anyone else, they could still fight, but against Grey, as long as their Puppets were out, they were sitting ducks. Knowing this, the remaining Gnomes hurriedly withdrew their Puppets, not daring to let it out. The three Gnomes Grey had attacked were unable to fight back due to him cutting off the link between them and their Puppets as soon as he arrived, while also attacking. The Gnomes were unable to muster any defense from the momentarily pause they were forced to pause after their links with Puppets had been forcibly cut off.

The Old Gnome’s fury had reached its peak, attacking ferociously, only to be met with a shadow. Grey did not stick around to face the Old Gnome’s attacks, evading at the last moment. The Old Gnome tried to seal the space around Grey, unfortunately, fighting in an open space is different from the confined space they were fighting in and all Grey needed to do was to leave the region where the space was sealed, taunting the Old Gnome even more as he escaped.

The Old Gnome was powerful, too powerful to be left alone. With the exception of Chris, Grey was the only one who could outrun the Old Gnome. Knowing this, he made sure the Old Gnome was always on him to reduce the pressure on the others. Whenever he switches places with anyone, after the first attack, he would always change positions back before the Old Gnome kills the person that switched places with him.

With Grey’s help, the Gnomes were not able to use their numbers advantage, frustrating them. They were still contemplating if fighting was still a good idea when another light fell from the sky, crashing into the ground a few kilometers away from where the first Gnome crashed.

This time, fear gripped the hearts of the Gnomes at the sight of another dead Half God Plane Gnome. They still felt they had the opportunity to defeat these people and help out their Half God Plane Gnomes; however, with two Half God Plane Gnomes dead, they knew they did not stand a chance against the Half God Plane Humans, and without hesitation, escape came to their heads.

The Old Gnome was the first to make a move, discarding his thoughts of killing Grey, he retreated a few kilometers away, carefully observing the corpses of the two Half God Plane Gnomes that were dead. These were existences they did not believe anything could happen to, yet right before their eyes, not just one, but two were dead. Staying here was no different from a death wish, and for someone that has cultivated to his level, he did not want to lose his life, especially to Humans.

Without the Old Gnome chasing after him, Grey was able to run rampant in the battlefield, assisting as many people as he could. The Old Gnome taking the initiative to retreat gave the other Gnomes a reason to also retreat, all distancing themselves from the battlefield. In a matter of seconds, other than the few Gnomes unable to withdraw, most of the Gnomes had disappeared from the battlefield.
