Chapter 1922: Scared Witless

Chapter 1922: Scared Witless

“Who is that?” The surviving Ninth stage Gnomes looked in the direction of the fast approaching figure. They could tell that this newcomer was the one who attacked the Gnome making the hand seals. Now they were short one Ninth stage Sovereign, reducing their numbers to just six. This was still a significant number given they were only battling two Sovereigns in the Eighth and Ninth stage respectively.

Grey did not seem surprised at the arrival of Klaus, he was already aware Klaus was coming. He could not see Void close, but he could sense that he was even closer than Klaus.

The Gnome who asked the question, was shocked when he felt a dreadful aura coming at him. Without hesitation, he retreated, bringing out his Puppet. Unfortunately for him, at the moment the Puppet came out, Grey was prepared, taking advantage of the chaos Klaus’ kill caused, he had the chance to cut off the link between the Gnome and Puppet. This made Gnome pause for a short moment, enough time for the attack coming his way to strike. The Gnome did not even know when he was struck by the attack, and his figure was seemingly exiled into the vast void.

A large black Cat appeared on the spot where the Ninth stage Gnome previously stood, its body giving off strong space elemental essence. The attack the Cat used against the Gnome was made from the space element, signifying it was the one that attacked. The Cat was naturally Void who rushed here with Klaus to help Grey and Chris out.

Two Ninth stage Sovereigns had been killed in a matter of a few seconds, stunning most of the Gnomes present. What shocked them was not the fact that the Gnomes were killed, it was the matter they were killed. Neither of them was able to put up any resistance against the two attacks. Both attacks came from unpredictable angles, and they were well hidden, appearing when it was already too late.

The remaining five Gnomes in the Ninth stage panicked and retreated. This was the chance Grey and Chris had been waiting for, the surviving Seventh and Eighth stage Gnomes were quickly blown away by Grey and Chris’ incredible strength. The fear from having two Ninth stage Gnomes killed in an instant struck fear in the hearts of the three Seventh stage Sovereign Gnomes. The only thought in their heads was to escape, giving up all efforts to fight back, they were like fishes in a chopping board, putting up little to no resistance. In a matter of seconds, only the Eighth stage Sovereign was left alive, the other three Gnomes in the Seventh stage were dead.

The Eighth stage Sovereign could not put up much of a fight against Grey, Chris, Void and Klaus who just arrived. In a single attack, the Gnome vanished like he was never there.

The five Ninth stage Sovereigns looked at the group with a fearful expression, unsure of what to do.

“We need help.” One of them said with an ugly expression. They were faced against just one Ninth stage, one Eighth stage and one Seventh stage Sovereign, yet they wanted to ask for help. There was also the mysterious black Cat that could kill a Ninth stage Sovereign with a single strike; of course, the element of surprise is the major reason he was able to achieve this feat, it still did not change how impressive and scary it was for them.

“Stall them, I’ll ask one of the Elders for help.” The Gnome said this while turning around, rushing in the direction of the Peak Sovereigns’ battlefield.

The four Gnomes who were left to face Grey’s group clenched their fists, wishing they were the ones who came up with the idea. None of them wanted to face Grey or his companions. If Grey had not been present, they would not have been this fearful. Yes, Chris, Klaus, and Void, and even Grey were stronger than the regular Elementalists in the same cultivation stage as themselves. However, the Puppets of the Gnomes would have been able to make their strength invalid. Unfortunately for them, Grey’s ability to cut off their links to their Puppets made it impossible for them to use it, placing them at a disadvantage.

Grey noticed the fear in the faces of the Gnomes, and a grin appeared on his face. This was the best chance they had not to just take out these Gnomes, but to also get closer to the portal. As long as they could seal this portal, destroying it if possible, then they would not have to worry about the Gnomes getting more reinforcement. Klaus and Void were the only reinforcements the Humans could afford since they were the only ones close by, as for the Gnomes, with their portal here, they could get a steady stream of support.

“Uncle Chris!” Klaus hugged Chris after they killed off the Eighth stage Sovereign Gnome.

Chris pushed him away while sighing, “Focus, this is not the time for this.”

Klaus pursed his lips when he was pushed back by Chris, he was well aware this was not the time for this. Turning his gaze to the Gnomes, an evil smile appeared on his face.

If Grey’s grin scared the Gnomes, Klaus’s smile terrified them. At least with Grey it looked like he wanted to kill them quickly, Klaus, on the other hand, looked like he wanted them to face the worst torture imaginable.

“Kill them quickly before they get help.” Chris ordered while making the first move

Grey, Klaus, and Void each took action immediately after Chris made his move. Although Chris was the first to make a move, Grey and Void were the first to get to their opponents, with each person picking a target, they all struck.

The Gnomes were not going to watch and allow the group take their lives without fighting, they were each powerful experts, so how could they not put up any sort of resistance?

Boom! Bam!

The fight between them and the Gnomes was fierce. The Gnomes were fighting with their lives on the line, if they did not defend, they would be slaughtered like the previous Gnomes that have faced this group. However, without their Puppets, they noticed they could barely put up much of a fight against these people.

If they were fighting regular Elementalists in the same cultivation stage, they would at least be able to fight back. Fighting against this group showed them they lacked strength without their Puppets which put them in despair. This was not how it was supposed to be, this was not how they envisioned themselves after invading the Human World. They were supposed to dominate the World and make the Humans their slaves, yet they were being thrashed by Humans in lower cultivation stages.

The Gnome fighting with Chris was still barely able to cope with his beating, after all, his opponent was in the same stage as himself, and he had the light element which greatly restrained most of their abilities. The ones fighting with Grey and Klaus felt like dying right there and then. Even if Grey was freakish, Klaus should still at least be touchable. When the battle started, the Gnome Klaus chose heaved a sigh of relief thinking he would be able to deal with him without too much of a sacrifice. Nevertheless, reality was completely different from his thoughts.

Klaus could not overpower him in the same manner Grey and Chris were doing to their opponents, other than that, there were no other positives. Klaus’s defenses were simply impenetrable to him, no matter which attacks he used, he was unable to break through the ice sphere shielding the latter. He could barely deal any damage to Klaus, who, on the other hand, had no issues with striking him.

Multiple ice arrows shot at the Gnome, and as he tried to block it, he realized that it started drizzling around him. Realizing this was Klaus making use of his domain, he hurriedly used his domain as well, engulfing himself and Klaus in darkness. Gnomes were natural Darkness Elementalists, and only a small percentage of them have other elements with their darkness element. This Gnome was one of the Gnomes with just a single element, the darkness element. Even the high corrosiveness of the darkness element was unable to eat through Klaus’s ice sphere, which showed how extraordinary it was.

Klaus did not panic after being engulfed in the darkness domain, with a smirk, he opened his palm and what looked like a single snowflake floated from his hand.

“I’ve been waiting for this.”

The snowflake exploded with a puff, seemingly harmless. The Gnome looked at it curiously, only to feel a sense of dread as an unimaginable chill spread from the point where the harmless snowflake exploded.

The darkness showed signs of freezing, scaring the shit out of the Gnome.

“What did you do?!” The Gnome asked in fright.
