Chapter 371: Stony Maze

Violet contentedly munched away at the body of the mole she had just slain, taking her time as she waited for her injuries to heal and for her mana to regenerate.

It had been a long fight by her standards, normally her fights were short but brutal, so to have to pace herself as she fought for an opening was a slightly novel experience for her.

Still it had not been overly challenging all things considered.

The mole was clearly not used to fighting against being head on, its defense seemed to entirely consist of hiding and taking advantage of the natural surroundings. So when Violet managed to score a singular powerful blow the beast was done for.

That in turn led to Violet enjoying her snack. Which also in turn led Violet to a very important discovery, one that she would value for quite some time.

"Meat from a sovereign is really tasty!"

It was likely a result of the incredible amount of mana that could be stored within a tier 5 being. At that level of power their body was filed primarily by mana more than almost anything else, not to say that they didn’t need sustenance just that it required mana.

In turn that mana saturated every part of a tier 5’s body, that to Violet just meant that any meat from such a being turned incredibly tasty. Granted her experience of eating tier 5’s was quite limited, still every one that she had indulged in had been a true treat.

That thought process led to the next most important decision that Violet made. She would be sure to hunt down plenty of beast sovereigns during this trial so that she would never run out of tasty food!

Nodding to herself as she tore out another chunk of meat Violet hummed contentedly.

When the beast was about half devoured Violet stored the rest of it for later consumption, then stood back up and stretched out, her freshly grown scales from where she had been wounded by the mole already back to full strength.

She looked down both ways that the new corridor she had opened up just before her clash with the mole, trying to figure out which direction she should take.

Sniffing the air she sent out a pulse of her presence. She discovered nothing with her presence, the stone working as too good of a barrier against such methods of scouting. Her nose however, well she did pick something up with that.

She turned towards the right tunnel, smelling the faint scent of plant life and water. Not really having any other idea for where to go Violet promptly headed in that direction at a decent pace.

It turned out that the scent was from quite some distance as it took Violet a good half hour of walking to reach the point where the tunnel she walked down opened up into a massive cave.

Calling it just a cave seemed to diminish the nature of the space however, no, instead calling it a biodome seemed more apt.

In the centre of the massive space a glimmering lake lay, it waters a brilliant azure as it reflected the light shining down on it from innumerable blue green crystals dotting the ceiling high above.

Everywhere else in the biodome was absolutely covered in plant life, from thick ferns and bushes to beautiful wildflowers containing ever colour in the rainbow.

To see such an abundance of plant life in an apparent underground cave was something Violet never imagined seeing. It was a beautiful sight, like something straight out of one of those story books Luna had told her about.

Yet it also felt wrong on a fundimental level to see such abundance of nature, yet for this nature to not be inhabited by even a singular creature, be that large or small, weak or powerful.

Finding herself put off from the impressive sights by that realisation Violet swiftly moved through the cave in search of another exit.

Soon enough Violet was back in the seemingly never ending tunnels of this area. She encountered a few more beasts along the way, only a couple of tier 3 and 4 beasts though so not really worth killing.

She simply ignored the tier 3’s and forced the tier 4’s to surrender, granting her 2 more tokens and bringing her total up to 8 tokens and leaving her with only 2 more to gather before she could leave this place.

Saddly she did not discover any more beasts for the next several hours. Violet simply wound her way through the endless maze of tunnels, slowly growing more and more frustrated with this entire cave system.

Several times she launched her dragons breath or void cannon against any random walls in both an expulsion of her frustration and in somewhat desperate hopes that she may discover another hidden passage that could lead her deeper into the area.

Eventually Violet heard noises coming from ahead, noises that sounded an awful lot like a battle.

Distant explosions rang out as something scraped across armour of some kind, then came the beastly roar followed by a resonating boom as something heavy was clearly sent flying away into a wall.

Desperate for a distraction of any kind Violet rushed forwards with undisguised haste.

She raced through to waving maze of tunnels in search of entertainment. Soon enough she got close to the sounds of combat, her blood pumped with excitement after being deprived of anything other than bland and boring tunnels for so long now.

Turning around a final corner at a near sprint Violet failed to realise one quite important fact.

For Violet was currently in her full 100 meter long size, given the massive size of the tunnels she felt no reason to limit her size during the exploration.

So when Violet in her massive true size came rushing around a corner and encountered two humanoids in the middle of a battle it should come as no surprise that the two enlightened would instantly turn to look at the new arrival.

When their gaze fell upon the mountain of onyx scale staring at them with utter glee and excitement at the prospect of fighting they were understandably terrified.

Then when one took into account the fact that both of these enlightened were only mid stage tier 4 fighters as opposed to Violet being a bonafied sovereign, one who was by no means hiding her domain and overwhelming presence... well it should come as no surprise when both of the enlightened fighters paled and then promptly passed out from shock.

Well it came as quite the surprise to Violet who promptly skidded to a stop so as to avoid squishing the two small enlightened.

Once stationary she glared down at the two with obvious frustration in her eyes. "Stupid people being all weak... Just wanted to fight something." She muttered to herself as she angrily stomped her foot against the ground.

Said ground promptly shattering from the force of her frustration fuled pout.
