Chapter 369: The Third Zone

Violet sped through the windy wasteland, not bothering to delay herself for any beast that she came across. She already had the required tokens to pass into the next zone and she had no desire to stay in this hostile place for any longer than she needed to.

Still visiblity was next to nothing in this place so she was forced to rely on the faint feeling of Luna’s location through their bind to figure out exactly which direction she needed to head in.

Speaking of the bind Violet had felt it steadily growing stronger the further she travelled. It was minute, the distance between the two of them still too vast for their usual connection to flourish. Still simply knowing that she was getting closer and closer to her companion was reassuring to the void dragon.

It took Violet several hours of hard travel before she finally reached the end of this accursed zone.

She had run into dead end valleys, caves that led her in the wrong direction, massive canyons that split the earth and forced her to take large detours.

Violet would have loved nothing more than to simply fly away and cover the distance, yet the terrifyingly powerful winds of this zone acted as a powerful deterrent to this desire.

Sure she could probabally use her domain to cancel out the powerful winds, yet she felt that would not be a smart choice. Her intuition positively shouted at her that doing so would not end well for her.

When wondering why this might be the case her mind instantly turned back to her musing about the nature of this place and that strange force that seemed determined to restrict her domain.

Wondering if it may suddenly increase its resistance whilst she was flying over a canyon enough to prevent her from daring to brave the winds.

This Violet walked, or ran to be more accurate.

Her large body eating up the distance at incredible speed, her pace only ever slowed down by the aforementioned natural barriers that got in her way.

When she saw the glimmering barrier that separated the zones a wide smile finally split her wind swept face.

With zeal she sped forwards, straining her muscles to cross that final distance and reach the next zone as fast she she possibly could.

Yet upon crossing that final barrier confusion instantly settled over Violet, she looked about in incomprehension at the scene around her.

For Violet now found herself within a vast cave, it was a good 50-60 meters to the roof and was the size of a city block.

Violet turned around and looked at the glimmering barrier that led back to the past zone only to see a exit of the cave she now stood in, it was fairly big, a good 10 or so meters across yet it seemed to act as a delineation between the two zones.

When she approached the barrier from the other side however, their was no sign of a cave, in fact thinking back she realised that she could not remember seeing anything behind that barrier.

She wondered how the separation between zones worked then, so with curiosity Violet stepped back through the barrier and re-entered the second zone.

Violet once again found herself in the windy wasteland, she observed the barrier in more detail now and finally noticed something that she truly should have realised before.

A faint power radiated from the barrier, a power that she was somewhat familiar with given she had a skill that utilised some aspects of it. Plus it was an element that was wielded by one of the first sovereigns she had ever encountered, that of space.

Violet realised then a truth about this entire trial. These barriers did not directly separate different areas of the island, no these barrier teleported them to an entirely different area.

Could it still be in the same sland? Maybe? But Violet was not entirely sure, she remembered the vast array of biomes that littered this island, from Arctic wastes to sandy and dry deserts.

Did it make sense for a singular island to house all of these vastly different biomes all in the same place? Violet was not sure.

Still it at least answered the question of how she had ended up in a vast open cave upon passing through the barrier, she had simply been teleported into a cave, where that cave actually was, now that was something Violet was entirely unsure of.

However, then Violet paused, as she remembered the fact that Violet’s bond with Luna still pointed in the same direction even when she passed through the barrier.

She blinked as her brow furrowed in consternation. How did that work?

A particularly large rock slamming into Violet’s side with a grunt of annoyance snapped Violet out of her worried ponderings to refocus on the immediate task at hand.

She with a sigh at the strangeness of this entire place Violet once again crossed through the barrier and reentering the third zone.

Only she was left confused once again as she found herself in a different but still equally massive cave as before. A slight headache formed as Violet tried to understand why this particular strangeness had happened.

However, with a sigh Violet banished the thoughts and refocused her attention on the cave she found herself in.

As the previous one it was a truly giant space, easily big enough for a fully grown tier 5 beast to have a battle against a foe of equal advancement and power.

With a pulse Violet expanded her presence as far as it would go. To her surprise she discovered that she felt several creatures roaming this cave, or not exactly in this singular cave but out in the wider collections of paths and tunnels that seemed to act as a natural Labarinth of sorts.

"Great, just what I wanted." Muttered violet under her breath, she really disliked labarinths ever since that strange plant maze from the dungeon she explored.

Sighing Violet simply smiled as she hoped against all hope that she will not get too lost.

A/N:

Cutting back on how often Chapters will be released for the foreseeable future. Release schedule will be changed to 5 Chapters a week minimum, Monday-Friday.

Sorry not sorry, finding I’m needing to take breaks from writing more regular, truly begining to get slightly burnt out from releasing daily Chapters for nearly a year now when I only really started this as a hobby.

But I don’t want Violet and Luna’s story to end prematurely. I am determined to finish it out regardless of how long it may take me! Hope you all stick about for that!
